Pepper Farming On 1 Acre Cost And Expected Return In Ogun State by Sadinlewa(op):
🌶️ PEPPER FARMING ON 1 ACRE COST AND EXPECTED RETURN IN OGUN STATE

Location: NaijaBuilders Mega Farm, Ogun State

🔹 1. Basic Assumptions

Pepper farming is one of the most profitable agrobusiness ventures you can start in Southwest Nigeria. It grows well on fertile soil, requires moderate capital, and yields within 4–6 months.

Below is a simple estimate for planting and harvesting pepper on one acre of land under two production conditions, rain-fed and irrigated.

Assumptions:

Farm Size: 1 Acre
Crop: Pepper (Ata Rodo / Tatashe varieties)
Yield (Rain-fed): About 4,000 kg per acre.
Yield (Irrigated): About 8,000 kg per acre.
Market Price Range between: ₦800 – ₦3,000 per kg (depending on season and market)
Farming Duration: 4–6 months.

🔹 2. Cost Estimate (Per Acre)

Land Clearing and Preparation: ₦120,000
Seedlings and Nursery: ₦40,000
Fertilizer and Agrochemicals: ₦120,000
Labour (Planting, Weeding, Staking, etc.): ₦200,000
Tools and Farm Implements:₦50,000
Transplanting and Staking: ₦30,000
Harvesting and Transportation: ₦60,000
Miscellaneous / Contingency: ₦30,000

👉 Total Cost for Rain-fed Production: ₦650,000

If irrigation is added (borehole, pipes, or water pump system), get a professional irrigation artisan and add the extra cost to 650,000.

👉 Total Cost for Irrigated / High-Input Farming: ₦830,000

🔹 3. Expected Returns

Now let’s break down the possible revenue and profit depending on market price and yield.

For Rain-fed Farming (₦650,000 total cost):

1) At ₦800 per kg × 4,000 kg = ₦3,200,000 revenue → ₦2,570,000 profit.
2) At ₦1,500 per kg × 4,000 kg = ₦6,000,000 revenue → ₦5,370,000 profit.
3) At ₦3,000 per kg × 4,000 kg = ₦12,000,000 revenue → ₦11,370,000 profit.

For Irrigated / High-Input Farming (₦830,000 total cost):

1) At ₦800 per kg × 8,000 kg = ₦6,400,000 revenue → ₦5,570,000 profit.
2) At ₦1,500 per kg × 8,000 kg = ₦12,000,000 revenue → ₦11,170,000 profit.
3) At ₦3,000 per kg × 8,000 kg = ₦24,000,000 revenue → ₦23,170,000 profit.

Even at the lowest price of ₦800/kg, the profit margin is still attractive.

🔹 4. Why Naijabuilders Mega Farm Is the Best?

Here’s why many investors and smart farmers are positioning themselves at NaijaBuilders Mega Farm.

✅ Motorable roads within the farm for easy access.
✅ Constant water supply for irrigation.
✅ Security and peace of mind — no Fulani herdsmen intrusion.
✅ Ongoing development in the axis (Kpakpa Interchange Road by Dangote Industry).
✅ Excellent public transport — buses, kekes, and okadas connect easily.
✅ Strategic location close to Lagos and Abeokuta.
✅ Opportunity to qualify for government agricultural grants.
✅ Land value is appreciating fast — early investors are already benefiting.

🔹 5. Why This Investment Makes Sense

Instead of buying land and waiting years for it to appreciate, farm it and earn from it immediately while your land value still goes up over time.

At NaijaBuilders Mega Farm, you can:

* Buy farmland.
* Cultivate it.
* Recover your money from harvest.
* And still own the land.

It’s smarter and more profitable than buying and waiting forever.

Farmland around Lagos is becoming scarce and expensive. Very soon, agricultural land will become gold. Soseri is one of the few remaining affordable yet promising locations this is a life-changing opportunity for anyone serious about building real wealth through agribusiness.

🔹 6. Final Words

Pepper farming is a proven, profitable venture. With proper management, 1 acre can give you multiple millions in revenue within 6 months. Combine that with secure farmland, water access, and ongoing development, and you have the perfect investment opportunity.

The neem is diluted before use na, and if you source in bulk (neem) it's real cheap. Source in bulk and resell to your fellow farmers sef

Thank you for pointing that out it’s an important part of the process.

Yes, pest control is fully included in the management plan. We use recommended and NAFDAC-approved pest management practices to protect the pepper at every growth stage. This ensures healthy development, higher yield, and long-term sustainability of your investment.

We simply didn’t highlight it earlier, but it is a standard part of our maintenance and farm management structure.

I understand your concern very well pepper farming truly attracts pests, from aphids to even lizards. But that’s exactly why we designed our model with preventive management in mind, not trial-and-error.
We don’t wait for pests to become a problem. We use:
Early-stage preventive treatment (so aphids don’t even take hold)

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) a combination of organic pesticides, resistant varieties, good spacing and constant monitoring

Routine farm supervision to respond immediately before damage spreads.
Affordable and effective alternatives to expensive neem oil
So yes, pepper has pests but that’s only a challenge when the farm is unmanaged. With proper structure and routine care, pest pressure becomes very minimal and yield remains consistent.

That’s the advantage of plugging into a managed farming system instead of going in alone.

If you like, I can share our full pest-control schedule so you see exactly how we handle it.

I understand the concern safety is very important to every farmer.
That’s why we don’t operate in isolated or unsecured areas.
Our farms are located in peaceful, monitored communities, and we work closely with local residents, vigilantes, and farm supervisors who live around the area. Farming there is part of normal daily life, and people go in and out without any issue. In short, we prioritize:
Secure and accessible locations
Constant presence of workers on ground, community cooperation, and zero isolated farming

So while security is a valid topic anywhere in Nigeria, it hasn’t been a problem for our farm operations at all.
Your focus remains your investment, not fear.

You’re right that leadership challenges have affected a lot of things in Nigeria, and people are genuinely frustrated.
But despite everything, many of us are still finding ways to grow, invest, and create opportunities that don’t depend on government performance.
That’s why I always encourage focusing on what we can control building small assets, investing wisely, and positioning ourselves for the future.
Nigeria gets tough, but we don’t stop moving.
If you ever want to explore options that give you more stability even in this kind of environment, I’m here to guide you.

I understand you perfectly, many people feel the same way because of what they see online.
But in reality, not every farming location is a high-risk zone.

We don’t operate in isolated bushes or abandoned forests where there’s no human presence.
Our sites are in active, populated farming communities where people go to their farms daily without issues.
No escorts, no ransom stories just normal life and normal farming.

The truth is: security challenges exist in some parts of the country, but not everywhere.
That’s why we’re very selective about our farm locations and we work closely with the local community and vigilante groups to keep the environment safe.

You can love farming and still do it safely the key is choosing the right place and the right structure.

There is nothing bad to use every tool available to communicate better and deliver value.
At the end of the day, what matters is getting results.
