Major General Folusho Oyinlola, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander of Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP), on Wednesdy convened a high-level security engagement in Sanga Local Government Area, to solidify community relations ahead of the rainy season.

Represented by Brig-Gen Aliyu Aminu, the Garrison Commander 3 Division, the GOC characterized the meeting as a strategic necessity designed to establish practical frameworks for peace as agricultural activities ramp up across the region.

While the military leadership praised Sanga residents for a noticeable decline in violence, the Army remained candid about looming threats such as kidnapping, illegal firearm manufacturing, and the influx of cattle, which have historically led to crop destruction and reprisal attacks that threaten national food security.

A unique highlight of the engagement involved a non-kinetic intervention approved by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, featuring the distribution of fertilizers to both farmers and local stakeholders. our correspondent said.

The initiative serves as a tangible gesture of support intended to bridge religious divides and reinforce the idea that economic prosperity and peace are shared goals that transcend sectarian lines.

The GOC emphasized that security is a collective burden, urging traditional rulers to strengthen early warning systems and community-driven codes of conduct to prevent the poisoning of cattle or the destruction of farms, maintaining that retaliation only fuels a cycle of bloodshed.

Major Mohammed Galadima, the Sub-Sector 71 Commander, echoed these sentiments by calling for a high degree of tolerance as the rains sets in.
He pointed out that the season naturally brings farmers and herders into closer proximity, making patience a vital tool for de-escalation.

By encouraging all parties to utilize formal mediation channels instead of "self-help" measures, the Task Force aims to maintain its dual-track approach of aggressive patrols alongside community-building efforts to ensure lasting stability, our correspondent said.

Every govt MDA is now doing projects. Corruption.
