After many years of reading the entertaining and informative discussions in these forums, we thought we might share a little project we have been working on:

Mindbolt Design Studio creates handmade multicultural paper and textile goods. Some of our items are created with such West African materials like headties, wax print fabrics, old school books and other vintage ephemera. Some of them are sourced right here and some are imported. We hope you love them as much as we do. We are currently starting out with our Agama Paper line Valentines, but we will be adding everyday occasion cards, handmade journals, stationery, etc. to the shop in the next few weeks.

Agama Paper is an arm of MDS that specializes in a line greeting cards, stationery and other paper goods featuring sentiments from West African languages such as English, Pidgin English (a kind of patois), Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa. It is named for the multicolored Agama Lizard that is common in that part of the world and seemed an appropriate mascot for this line. Our reason for creating this line is because as some of the many thousands of West Africans (we are originally from Nigeria) who are spread out all over the world, we don't see our languages or lingua franca featured on any paper goods. We figured that if we made something that we felt was missing in the crowded stationery market, that it might resonate with others in the diaspora too.
