Minister’s Cash Gift Triggers Free-for-all In Kano by Tyche(m): 8:59pm On Feb 12, 2012

A hundred thousand naira cash gift from a serving federal minister (name withheld) to a group of mourners at the Koki residence of the Dantatas triggered a free-for- all, Sunday, in Kano.

The arrival of the influential minister lit up the mood of mourners who openly praised his philanthropic nature.

The Minister’s aide gave out a bundle of a hundred thousand naira to the mourners who had lay siege to the minister’s motorcade.

What followed was pandemonium as able-bodied men were seen assaulting each other to have a large chunk of the loot.

However, the misunderstanding arising from sharing of the money caused panic among other dignitaries who were at the Dantata country home, warranting armed security guards attached to the dignitaries to be at alert and combat – ready to ward off imminent ugly incident.

The official bus of the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalist Kano chapter was nearly smashed during the fight.
