I saw the video this morning and am yet to recorver from shock! What was the late officer thinking?! I mean this dude went to recorver a bomb with bare hands. Gush! Considering the fact that bombing have become part of our daily lives (according to GEJ), one will think that our security operatives would have acquired enough morden gadgets, if not to protect us but at least to protect themselves.

for God sake! how can someone disarm a bomb with a metal detector?
how dumb can a policeman be?

How on GOD's green earth can one work in an antibomb squad and not know the first thing about  "Bomb Disposal".
Never handle suspected explosive material without required gear:drone and or specialised body amour.
This mans NEEDLESS death tells us a chilling story about the training and equipping  of the men/women who are supposed to protect us: grossly abysimal.
Things he could have learnt basics from u-tube and a number of reasonable movies.IF he was taught those fundamentals and he
broke protocol then his blood is on his head.If the equipment/gear was enroute and he did not deem it fit to wait trusting in somegood luck or some odieshi talisman  what can we say?
May his sole rest in peace.

I suspect it was a timed bomb or IED.
From my observation, the policeman only went to inspect or investigate what the material was. Sad that the policeman got there on the nick of programmed activation time.

or the detonator was in the crowd?

The detonator was in the crowd and the silly Cop waltzed to his death with his arrogant ,ignorant and misplaced display of bravado.
There was nothing heroic about his death and it pains me to say because a life(any life) is a terrible thing to waste HE DID NOT HAVE TO DIE THAT WAY.

True. Liquid Nitrogen has been known to be the best way to defuse bombs. As it freezes  the bomb completely. But that doesn't rule out the fact that the bomb suite itself worn in this photograph is a necessity in cases like this.
