Why are you lots hating on doctors for saving lifes? Patients are not forced to go consult a doctor. My wife consults a colleague of mine and not me so why are you guys going hysterical about this? I conduct VE on my patients when i deem fit but with a coroner (female ). Stop the unnecessary hate abeg, what happens if your wife goes into labour and only a male doctor is on call?

If it is done in a health facility with female nurses around, I am okay with it, more so within that environment and in that situation, you will not even think anything intimate. I am not yet 40, but I once went for prostrate exam, where the dr will insert some probes through ur pen1s and shine light inside ur blokus to see if there is any growth, etc, there were two beautiful female nurses helping the dr, but man mine no even go that side, infact the thing no stand, ejust shrink, I was even more annoy that the thing no show him full length than the presence of the female nurses. After the procedure, all I was thinking is how to go back and tell those lady nurses that, what they saw was not real and that they actually saw one tenth of the actual size,

It happens in every part of the world. Ours isn't the worst or neither is it the only nation where it is done. If you aren't confortable with that then adopt the old traditional method of using herbs and so on.

Na police force you go hospital? no bi by force na. If the woman no want make male doctor examine am, she go voice am out during the first visit and hospital go write am down or she can stay for house born....if complication happen and their are no female doctor immediately available to render help...that na the person luck.

There is scarcity of obstetricians/gynaecologists in Nigeria. Most of them are men. If women are more comfortable with female gynaecologists they should set up a foundation to train them. You cannot have a choice when you donot have the means. A lot of lives are lost yearly because most pregnant women are managed by untrained personel. The price usually paid for gender and religious sentiments is maternal mortality.

I Used to be a supporter of male doctor(male gyneocologist) but my personal experience makes it otherwise now.my words are for sinle ladies they should seek female doctors for anything that has to do with their female anatomy. Though I know all male doctors are not the same but it will be better for you to be safe than sorry.

I agree it would be better if a female doctor attends to a female when it gets to some levels. But, where is the manpower?
