How Just Is The Supreme Court Verdict On Rivers State? by jintujinta(m): 7:11pm On Oct 26, 2007
The supreme court of Nigeria just nullified the election of the Rivers State Governor Omehia, because he did not win the primaries election of PDP .

The court went further to say that the man who won the primaries, Rotimi Amaechi should be sworn in. Is this right on the people of Rivers State?

My arguement is that it is okay that the election was nullified but it is not right that Rotimi Amaechi be sworn in.

He did not contest the election. People did not vote for him. They voted for Omehia and PDP . People did not vote for PDP alone but also for the candidate- Omehia. The judgement should have been that there should be a fresh election in Rivers State. I see the verdict as a fraud of the PDP to retain the governorship seat of Rivers State. It is unfair to other parties, it is unfair to the voters.
