Am about to build 5 bedroom b/galow and some of the houses beside my site has a craking wall and is not a swanpy land. What can some one do to prevent this |

Cracks could be caused by many reasons, chief among them is low quality foundation. Your building engineer should be able to advice you ob the beat building method after investigating the soil for both load bearing capacity and compacting qualities. Most cracks occur in swampy lands as seasons combine to play with soil stucture. Get some good quote for the foundation, you could do some combination of raft and strip foundation or use rods to chain the foundation floor before casting your lintels, please dont spare money as maintenance is always very expensive. Dont forget to do the German floor before you lay blocks as this acts to stengthen the foundation. Cheers my man. |

if you can run this section thru external an some major foundation wall within. you are saved from cracks. cos it is diffrential settlement that causes crack in most cases. since block can only resist compressional force so it gives way at any slight tensional force. with this u will have a uniform settlement.
