Halal And Haram (permitted And Nonpermitted Acts In Islam) by komole: 8:04am On Mar 25, 2012
TOPIC : HALAL AND HARAM
(Permitted and non Permitted acts).

When we talk of halah (non forbidden) and haram (forbidden) we will not only be talking of the edible things such as meat, drink, etc. But also those things we earn either through our salary, wages and instrest ( not profit). A lot of us have totally ignored what Allah has permitted and forbidden for our daily, monthly, or yearly earnings. And as such feel it is okay to consume whatever comes our way just because the society of today permits almost anything (both legal and illegal). That why we find it in our society that it is actually does that earn their income on the fast lane (I.e fraud, embezzlement, bribery, prostitution, etc) that praises are showered on once they can afford an extravagance lifestyle. We tend to term them "big boy" or "big girl". Allah has made it clear in the Holy Quran what is acceptable and what He has forbidden for us.

O mankind! Eat from that which is lawful and good on earth, and follow not the footsteps of shaitan. Verily he is to you and open enemy. (Q2:168)

He has forbidden you only the maitah (dead animals), and blood, and the flesh os swine, and that which is slaughtered as a sacrifice for others than Allah. But if one is forced by necessity without willful disobedience nor transgressing due limits, then there is no sin on him. Allah is oft-Forgiving. Most Merciful. (Q2:173)

And to those who are jews, We forbade evey (animal) with undivided hoof, and We forbade them the fat of the ox and the sheep except what adheres to their back or their entrails, or mixed up with bone. Thus We recompensed them for their rebellion (committing crimes like murdering the prophets and eating of Riba (usery). And verily, We are Truthful.
Those who eat Riba (usury) will not stand (on the day of resurrection) except like the standing of a person beaten by shaitan leading him to insanity. That is because the say: "trading is only like Riba (usury)," whereas Allah has permitted trading and forbidden Riba. So whosoever receives admonition from his Lord and stops eating Riba shall not be punished for the past; his case is for Allah (to judge),but who ever returns (to riba) such are the dwellers of the fire- they will abide therein forever. (Q2:272)

Allah will destroy Riba (usury) and will give increase for sadaqat (deeds of charity, alms, etc). And Allah likes not the disbelievers, sinners. (Q2:276)

O you who believe! Be afraid of Allah and give up what remains (due to you) from riba (usury) (from now onward), if you are (really) believers.(Q2:278).

And if you do not do it, then take a notice of war from Allah and His Messenger. But if you repent, you shall have your capital sums. Deal not unjustly (by asking more than your capital sums), and you shall not be dealt with unjustly (by receiving less than your capital sum). (Q2:279).

And if the debtor is in a has time (has no money) then grant him time till it is easy for him to repay, but if you remit it by way of charity that is better for you if you did but know. (Q2:280)

O you who believe! Eat not Riba (usury) doubled or multiplied, but fear Allah that you may be successful. (Q3:130)

And their taking of Riba (usury) though they were forbidden from taking it and their devouring of men's substance wrongfully (bribery). And We have prepared for the disbelievers among them a painful torment (Q4:161)

And that which you give in gift (to others), in order that it may increase (your wealth by expecting to get a better on in return) from other people's property, has no increase with Allah, but that which you give in zakat, sadaqah, charity seeking Allah's Countenance, then those, they shall have manifold increase. (Q30:39).

They ask you (O Muhammed) concerning alcoholic drink and gambling. Say: "in them is a great sin, and (some) benefits for men. But the sin of them is greater than their benefits." And they ask you what they ough to spend. Say: "That which is beyond your needs." Thus Allah makes clear to you His Laws in order that you may give thought. (Q2:219)

O you who believe! Intoxicants (all kinds of alcoholic drinks), and gambling, and Al-ansab, and Al-Azlam(arrows for seeking luck or decision) are an abomination of shaitan's handiwork. So avoid them in other that you may be successful. (Q5:90)

We as a person might not be
directly involved with the above, but we are also guilty if we earn our salary from companies and offices which do, example are does who work in banks (where usury is what sustains the bank), breweries (were alcoholic drinks which intoxicate people are produced), lotto houses / agencies (where the lottery materials and operations are carried out), as well as hotels, motels and brothels (where the above and many other haram acts takes place).

We know the economy is bad and people are desperate to get a job of any kind (even if it violates the injunction of Allah) out of the fear of hunger and wants. But Allah has made it clear in so many verses of the Quran that those who put their trust in Him Alone, He will never let them down. He has promised that who so ever comes to Him seeking for Help, He shall Help.

The main cause why people live, earn, and sleep in haram is that we mostly are very impatient for Allah's help to come our way.

Some individuals "waste" their entire life in worshipping and doing deeds that Allah has frowned at (though He Alone knows whom He will Forgive) because the entire foodstuffs they eat and give as charity during the Holy month of Ramadan, the Zakat they pay, the Hajj payment for themselves and others, the Sadaqah they give and every other "supposed good deeds" where all gotten from haram means Allah has forbidden us from pertaking in. Will such people say their prayers weren't accepted or the deeds wasn't multiplied? Yes they would! But if only they pickup the Quran and read through, then they will know were there purnishment( rather than blessings) is coming from.

The kind policeman who feeds his family from bribe he collected, the God fearing accountant who only gave that lone because of the high intrest he is expecting, the honest brewer, the religious doctor who doesn't miss his 5 daily salat but yet earns most of his incomes from D and C, the responsible husband who is an addicted gambler; all these individuals are "near perfect" in the sight of man, but have been forbidden paradise from Allah (except of course He forgives them).

Let's ensure to always seek for Allahs Guidiance and Protection. May we never find ourselves in situation where we will have to settle for what is of shaytan and his accomplice out of hunger or desperation.

May Allah guide our path aright and make us amongst the dwellers of Al-Jannah. Ameen.

Thanks for the reminder. @OP.

In addition.

We often forget that we need to be careful in our spoken speech and written words. Use of bad language, bullying , curse words are not the traits of a good muslim.

A smile is charity.
