Residents of Amurri Community in Nkanu West L.G.A of Enugu state was, this afternoon, thrown into a state of panic and mourning as Fulani herdsmen attacked and killed one of the villagers while injuring another as a result of a dispute between the two victims and the herdsmen. Problem started when the herdsmen took their cattle into the farmlands, eating and destroying the crops. The two farmers, on learning about this, approached the Fulani herdsmen so as to persuade them to leave their farmlands but they were immediately attacked and matcheted by the herdsmen. One of the farmers died on the spot while the other escaped with matchet/dagger cuts into the village, shouting and calling for help. This development angered the village youths who went into the bush in search of the herdsmen but could no longer locate their whereabout. The wounded farmer is currently recieving medical attention in a hospital while security operatives (army and police) have been dispatched to curtail the situation.
