I urge all the parents involved to sue the transport coy to court.i also decree instant impotency for all the robbers involved.in Jesus name.

Am i the only one who seems to think that the Bus company has a lot to answer to.
This is a bus journey that started at a reasonable hour but due a lack of safety/maintenance checks carried out on these buses it was allowed to carry on into a journey it could not complete.
Now if some sort of check had been carried out these girls might have made it back to Lagos in good time and all of this could have been avoided.
I understand that the Nigerian Police could have done more to avoid this but the main blame should lie with a bus company quite happy to send teenage girls into the unsafe NIgerian roads at 11:40pm.
When will these companies start being held acountable for their attrocities

Nigeria is definitely on the highway to hell - imagine the torment that the parents of those young students must be passing through right now. I dont even know what to say, what a country!
i pray the poor students recover from this terrifying ordeal with their sanity intact.

As I said earlier I will reach out to the parents and a class action would be instituted against the stupid transport coy.....We would sue them for all they own....How can they justify being on the road by 11.40pm with 42 school girls...Why did they not stop at a nearby Station in Benin and find a hotel to lodge the girls ofor the nite..just becos they selfishly want to make more profits...

Well . . .In most unity schools at the time e.g the Federal Govt colleges . . .the buses came straight from Lagos with police excorts to pick us up though we usually leave early . . . a PTA official would board each travelling bus . .but their role has being mostly cosmetic if the nostalgic attrocities we often commit on the highway to other road users and road hawkers is taken into consideration

but in your arrangement . .it's quite different cos i feel the driver would still lack that stint of responsiblity to kids moreso being strictly females . .to him . .they are just another set of passengers worth taking useless risk with . . .

Worth ever it is . .this event is a sad one . . . The parents and the school need to meet to trash out a solid arrangement so that stuffs like this do not happen again

The government should make it a law that every bus firm would be liable to a heavy firm if any of their fleet breaks down and the passenger has to wait for more than 30 min to 1hr! without a replacement bus is available…

If it happened in Ogun state, then am not surprised. Early this year, robbers invaded the state secretariat, and were never caught. Robbers have been terrorising the state eversince the new governor entered. The police as well as the governor just sit there doing nutin about it! Its shameful!

Anybody who travelled extensively between lagos and Enugu, would know that route well and agree with me that once you pass Benin City and delve into yoruba land, you are dealing with long stretches of forests and occasional sparsely inhabited villages and the ore - shagamu stretch is even worse because it has the worst motorable road amongst all the roads on that axis.

Could it be that the driver was hurrying to get to the next more populated enclave before calling the journey off because we all know that the distance from Ore to Lagos is still quite far. These drivers are some of the smartest and bravest bunch out there and I take offence when people try to deride them and rubbish their names.

My heart goes to the violated girls, I cannot imagine how they must have felt getting rammed by these cursed odua animals. May those robbers live a horrible life and may their days be short.

jmaine: Well it has being common practice for the PTA in Lagos to arrange for trans coy to convey their wards who scholled far away from Lagos . . .and in our time it was the Chisco trans coy who did that way back in the mid 90's . . .

So for those who want to blame the parents for not picking up their wards should shut the hell up . .the main essesnce of this move is to ensure they travel together rather than in isolation where they might be at the mercy of evil strangers or company

this is not good. Why has things gotten so bad. The police are nolonger aware of their duties, they've lost trackk for long now. It is they who have caused this kind of unforgiveable thing to happen to those kids. We need to start visiting the real issue.

The point they were at 7pm would have determine wheater to continue or not, knowing fully well that there are still much kilometres to cover.! This is NEGLIGENCe on some ppls part.
