The cause of diabetes is either the pancreas responsible for the secretion of insulin is not productive enough due to impairment or when the target cells is not responding to insulin action. The question now is what is the cure drugs doing? Are they rejuvenating the pancreas or repairing the receptor cells for insulin action.
