Who Are The Real Activists From The North? by olapluto(m): 8:52am On Apr 14, 2012
I was just wondering why most activists(at least the vocal ones) come from the South. Is it due to the long years of Northern rule? Or is it culture up North that hinders people speaking against authority? Or are Northern activists easily swayed by other sentiments such as religion, culture or even money? While many Northerners are clearly unhappy with GEJ, is this not a time for us to see more real, articulate oppositions to the government coming from the North? Rather, what we see is attacks on personality and mostly incoherent, sentimental attacks which do not really touch on important points. I know there are very brilliant minds up North, but why do they not speak up?
Forget the cosmetic El-Rufai and other political jobbers, are there young, opinionated Northerners? I know of an intelligent lady in Birmingham who voices her opinion frequently on national issues, but where are the others?
Boko Haram would also have been a big opportunity for the face of Northern youth to come out and be identified. Can we have any SUG president or youth activist from Maiduguri come out, and lead fellow students to tackle BH in the state? If they can come out, and team up with genuine activists down South, I think we can all shame the thieves in Abuja.
PLEASE LEAVE SENSIBLE COMMENTS, BUT DO NOT TROLL

Actually there are none.
Reason. . . the dominant culture of the North does not recognize any socio-economic abuse on the less priviledged based on either gender or social status.
It is agreeable with them and embedded in their mores and religious backgrounds.

So. . .what is there to fight for EXCEPT oil derivatives? undecided

Think of Saudi Arabia or Yemen. The only kinds of 'activists' you can find in such places, just like you could have in the North are socio-political terrorists and distabilizers of domestic and global polities.

Boko Harams! Nothing more.
