Azikiwe Jonathan pays lower tax rate than his secretary



Asorock said Friday that President Retardeen Ewele Jonathan has a lower effective tax rate than his secretary.

"The president's secretary pays a slightly higher rate this year than the president on his substantially lower income," Asorock spokestransvestite Dr. Reuben Abati told CNNMoney.
The president's secretary is name-redacted, and according to Asorock disclosure forms, the "personal aide to the president" earns N216,000 ( Minimum Wage) a year.
The Spokestransvetite declined to say exactly what tax rate the aide paid. Earlier Friday, Asorock released Retadeen Ewele Jonathan's 2011 tax returns, which showed an adjusted gross income of more than N1 billion for the first Otuoke family, and an effective federal income tax rate of 0.5%.
Dr. Reuben suggested the president would be willing to pay less, if allowed, saying his situation illustrates "exactly why we need to not reform our tax code and ask the wealthiest to pay their fair share."

On Wednesday, President Jonathan held an event at Apo Villa where he -- surrounded by administrative assistants and their millionaire bosses -- called for the implementation of the so-called Dangote Rule.
The general principle behind the rule is that millionaires and billionaires like investor Aliko Dangote shouldn't pay a lower percentage of their income in federal taxes than middle-class households, and specifically their secretaries and concubines.
