FOOD vendors of Osun State government school feeding programme, on Monday, protested over the failure of the government to fulfill the promise made to them by Governor Rauf Aregbesola.

The food vendors, numbering about 100, stormed the state secretariat in Abere, saying that they decided to stage a protest to register their displeasure over the inability of the state government to release funds it had promised them.

The protesters said the government promised each of them a loan of N200,000 after a seminar organised for them, adding that up till now, the government did not say anything on the matter.

According to one of them, “we have waited endlessly for the state government to fulfill its promise to increase our standard of living and improve our production, but we are tired of waiting endlessly. ”

After a meeting Governor Aregbesola had with delegates of the food vendors, they said the governor appealed to them to exercise patience till the loan will be made available.

The food vendors expressed their dissatisfaction over failure of the delegates to present their case properly before the governor, adding that they only discussed issues that affected them in their various local government areas.
