fortran should be okay. It's good 4 mathematical calculations. Since mcb is a science course, u will find it useful. I believe languages like java and c++ would be overkill, since all u want is probably to get some mathematical analysis done.eg anova, regression analysis, serial dilution etc. |

@Poster, why does this microbiologist want to learn programming skills? There is no requirement of such for biological scientists. Your company ought to hire computer scientists/ your run of the mill developer if any IT programming is necessary. |

Learn R , Matlab or Spotfire. You can do lots of statistical analysis. Spotfire would allow you to do trend analysis/ visual analysis while Matlab would be useful for modelling your microbe populations (I am trying to sound knowledgeable about microbiology.
