ABUJA — HEADS of anti-corruption agencies, yesterday, held a close door meeting on methodology to be adopted in prosecuting alleged oil thieves mentioned in the House of Representatives ad-hoc committee report on fuel subsidy.

The meeting held in the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, headquarters in Abuja was attended by the Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Lamorde; ICPC boss, Ekpo Nta and the chairman of Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, Sam Saba.

An impeccable source told Vanguard that the meeting was held on how to prosecute the suspected oil thieves to avoid overlapping.

According to the source, the meeting will also give each agency the aspect of the report to focus and to evolve method on how to fight corruption in the oil sector.

Vanguard gathered that the head of operations of EFCC, Olaolu Adegbite, who heads subcommittee on subsidy scam made up of 60 operatives had started interrogation of heads of the indicted companies in the N1.7trn fraud, after notifying the affected importers last month.

Officials of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, and the Petroleum Product Pricing and Regulatory Agency, PPPRA have been quizzed by the commission.

The heads of ACAs after a closed door meeting received a situation report from Justice For All, J4A, on how to improve the prosecution capacity of their teams.

Mr Bob Amot, who spoke on behalf of J4A, said they were in partnership with anti-graft bodies to strengthen the capacity building of prosecutors.
