In Europe are a lot of people who are of Asiatic (Samoyedic) decent, but little is said about them outside their native countries.

The term Samoyedic peoples (also Samodeic peoples) [1] is used to describe peoples speaking Samoyedic languages, which are part of the Uralic family. They are a linguistic grouping, not an ethnic or cultural one. The name derives from the obsolete term Samoyed used in Russia for some indigenous peoples of Siberia.[2][3] The term "Samoyed" was originally a Russian word, a corrupted form of the ethnonym "Saamod". "Samoyed" in Russian literally means "Self-Eating", but this is not the original meaning and is thus considered pejorative.

The largest of these peoples are Nenets numbering 34,000. They live in three autonomous districts of Russia: Nenetsia, Yamalia (also known as Yamalo-Nenetsia), and Taymyria (formerly known as Dolgano-Nenetsia).

The Nenets (Nenets: ненэцяˮ, Russian: ненцы), also known as Samoyeds, are an indigenous people in northern arctic Russia. According to the latest census in 2002, there are 41,302 Nenets in the Russian Federation, most of them living in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug and Nenets Autonomous Okrug. They speak either the Tundra or Forest varieties of Nenets.

There are two distinct groups based on their economy: the Tundra Nenets (living far to the north) and the Khandeyar or Forest Nenets. The third group Kominized Nenets (Yaran people) has emerged as a result of intermarriages between Nenets and the Izhma tribe of the Komi peoples.
The Samoyedic languages form a branch of the Uralic language family. They moved (from farther south in Siberia) to the northernmost part of what later became Russia before the 12th century.
