Collapse Of Ogun State Educational Sector Under Amosun And Odubela by Nobody: 10:13am On May 22, 2012
Ogun state commissioner for Education, Barr. Segun Odubela is simply a confusionist and disgrace to the law profession he claimed

Ever since he has been appointed as the education commissioner in Ogun state, his actions has clearly portrayed him as a clueless administrator. He has really shown to the world that he is suffering from poverty of idea judging from his educational policies since he was appointed. Mr Odubela whose sources disclosed was just an “errand boy” in the Chamber of Rickey Tarfa before his appointment was bankrupt.

Mr Odubela has been described as incompetentent by many of the Students’ Union leaders in the state judging from various rountable talks with him. “The man is too weak for my likeness, he doesn’t even speak good English, he likes shutting you up when you want to advance a superior argument” a students’ union leader disclosed.

The National Association of Ogun State Students NAOSS has also condemned Governor Amosun for appointing Segun Odubela as Commissioner of Education which according to them has bring shambles to the system. The association’s president, Tobi Durowoju stated this during a recent protest by the association at governor’s office. He maintains that “Education in ogun state will collapse, if the governor continue to use odubela as the commissioner for education. If an education commissioner can not recognise the most popular indigenous association like National Association of Ogun state students (NAOSS) which is well known to everybody, then it means he is not citizen of ogun state’’.

Another source which claimed anonymity disclosed that Ogun education commissioner is fond of taking bribes from schools whenever he is on a visitation. He used to collect #50,000 from higher institutions on visitation and he is the contractor of private security outfit in all higher institutions in the state. The man just like his forestry counterpart in the state who was allocated the re-roofing contract of block E at Tai Solarin University of Education is also a contractor of so many projects in the state. According to investigation, Odubela compelled management of one of the Ogun state owned tertiary institutions to buy him a “kick and start” generating set recently in a bid to cover their alleged “misdeeds”.
He was also reported to have imposed many unqualified candidates on institutions in Ogun state for admission in the 2011/2012 academic session.

Stakeholders in the state are worried about the policy summersault and falling standard of education in Ogun state since the commencement of Ibikunle Amosun administration in Ogun state owing to the incompetency of the appointed education commissioner. It will be recalled that Barr. Segun Odubela extended the closing period of secondary schools from initial 14:00hour unjustly, he illegally cancelled the regular mid-term break for schools in the state and endorsed the sack of many teachers on spurious allegations while he misguided the Governor to taking unpopular decision on the merger of Nigeria’s first University of education with the crumbling Olabisi Onabanjo University among other atrocities.

With the dwindling fortune of education, corruption and incompetency of Mr. Segun Odubela, many have predicted the collapse of educational sector at the end of Ibikunle Amosun administration if urgent step is not taken.
