1. Today June 14, 2012 is being marked as World Blood Donors Day. The day is celebrated with appreciating people who have donated blood several times and encouraging many others to donate and save lives.
2. Report just coming out says, the governor of Delta State, Emmanuel Uduaghan’s cousin has been kidnapped in Asaba. The 70 years old Pa Sam Uduaghan was abducted yesterday. Details in subsequent news bulletins.
3. The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has reverted its decision of suspending Air Nigeria to fly after concluding investigations. The investigation came after engineers at the airline carried out an on-and-off strike at the carrier. The temporary grounding of Air Nigeria came after a Dana Air flight June 3 crashed in Lagos, killing all 153 people on board and others on the ground. A cause for that crash has yet to be determined. Air Nigeria is now free to fly on both domestic and regional routes
4. About 1,000 Nigerian asylum seekers in Austria may be deported this month, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) by Nigeria and Austria.
5. Sources say an 80year-old man, Pa Amodu Alimi, recently graduated with Bachelor's in Sociology at Lagos State University. He gained admission into the university in 2007, and underwent a full-time course.
6. The Federal Government has said that it is going to set up regional power pool in the six geographical regions and that each region would be allowed to have its own Regional Electricity Regulation Commission (RERC) a replica of the National Electricity Commission (NERC).
7. Six members of Imo State Executive Council, including the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Dr. Obinna Duruji, were yesterday, sacked by Governor Rochas Okorocha. The action was necessitated following the desire of the governor to re-jig the machinery of governance.
8. Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, said federal govt of Nigeria plans to stop refined petroleum products importation within the next two years, after it was done with the turnaround maintenance. She made this known during the ongoing 5th OPEC International Seminar in Vienna, Austria.
9. Tunisia's ex-president, Zine el Abidine Ben Ali, was on yesterday sentenced to 20 years imprisonment in absentia, by a military court in the North African country. Ben Ali, who is exiled in Saudi Arabia, was found guilty of “inciting disorder, murder and looting,” in mid-January 2011.

10. SPORTS NEWS: Mario Gomez scored two goals which gave Germany a 2-1 win over the Netherlands in the Euro 2012 championship. Gomez Scored the two goals in the first half and these goals took Germany a big step towards the Euro 2012 quarter-finals.
11. HOLLYWOOD GIST Frances Preston, a world renown music industry pioneer and former president and chief executive of record company BMI, died yesterday at his home in Nashville of heart failure. She was 83.
12. Hollywood Actor, David Arquette has filed for divorce from "Friends" actress Courteney Cox after 12 years of marriage, following the couple's initial separation in 2010.
13. During the week, Canadian pop star Justin Bieber brought Bieber Fever to more than 200,000 people in Mexico City's famed Zocalo plaza for a free open air concert to promote his forthcoming album "Believe".
