Lol... I have been following this his work at a very young age, between age 9-10. I think the time he succeeded in fully mapping the human gnome brought him to limelight, although, not a genius as people would make him to be but a pro-active and hasty genetic engineer who's bent on fully mapping the human gnome. I can remember then he form an organization call 'Tigre' and some other information about is life.

However, creating artificial life in this sense is using what is available in nature to span together and manipulate the genetic makeup of the biological organism. I still think the genetic engineering in creating life is more like what combining the little differences in different organism gnome to create something exotic or more sophisticate or less. Yet, it is nothing we can actually bet on would be of less importance or fear would be a threat to the human evolution.
