Two police corporals have been arrested and
detained on the orders of the Commissioner of
Police, Osun State Command, Mrs. Kalafite
Adeyemi, for raping a 15-year-old girl in Ilesa.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the girl was passing by
Ayeso Police Station in Ilesa on Tuesday night
when the armed policemen dragged her into
their apartment beside the station and allegedly
raped her.
A source gave the name of the victim as Bisola.
Police Public Relations Officer of the command,
Mrs. Sade Odoro, on Wednesday said, “They
(policemen) cannot escape because this is a
command known for discipline.
“They were arrested immediately and they have
been transferred to Osogbo. Their dismissal is
guaranteed. The girl has been taken to the
hospital for treatment.”
Criticisms have greeted the action of the
policemen with a cross-section of members of
the public condemning the act.
A native of Ilesa, Mr. Seyi Akingbehin, called for a
thorough investigation into the case, adding that
the policemen must be brought to book if found
,guilty.
