But trump and Netanyahu and still cooking something for him based on the Christian genocide in Nigeria which he fueled with their Muslim- Muslim anti Christianity violent rhetoric , trust me on that you will see what will happen |

Business › Re: Folorunsho Alakija: The Icon Who Refused To Be Conquered by aariwa(m): 8:29pm On Dec 25, 2025 |
OverCalculating: Folorunsho Alakija did not study Geology.
She started as a Secretary. Then she became a Fashion Designer.
Yet, she beat the global oil giants at their own game.
Most people think she just "got lucky" with an oil license.
But the truth is, she used a strategy called The "Rejected Stone" Advantage.
Here is what happened: In the 90s, she applied for an oil license.
The powers that be gave her OPL 216.
They didn't give her this block because they liked her.
They gave it to her because nobody else wanted it.
It was "Deep Offshore" (Deep Water).
At that time, the technology to drill that deep was expensive and risky.
The big companies (Shell, Mobil) wanted the easy, shallow water.
They thought they gave her a "useless" paper.
She saw a "Golden Ticket."
She knew she didn't have the billions to drill.
But she had the Rights.
She approached Texaco (now Chevron).
She told them: "I have the access. You have the technology. Let's work."
She didn't try to dig with her hands. She used her "Paper" as equity to attract a giant.
This is the most important lesson.
When they finally struck oil (the massive Agbami Field), the Government was shocked at the volume.
They got jealous.
The Government tried to use a decree to forcefully take back 50% of her stake.
Most people would have bowed to the Federal Government out of fear.
Alakija sued them.
She fought the Federal Government in court for 12 years.
She refused to settle. She refused to be bullied.
Eventually, the Supreme Court ruled in her favor, restoring her full stake.
Why am I telling you this?
Don't despise the "Hard" road:
Just because an opportunity looks difficult (Deep Water) doesn't mean it's bad.
That is often where the biggest treasure is hidden.
Defend your Value: In business, creating wealth is one thing.
Keeping it is the real war.
You must have the audacity to fight for what is yours, even if you are fighting a Giant.
She went from sewing clothes to owning one of the most prolific oil blocks in Africa.
Not by luck. But by Grit.
Nairalanders! I hope you learnt something today. Stop all these rigmarole. Babangida bypassed all protocols, competition, fair and open process for whatever other reason only he IBB knows to give her the oil blocks and you call that success or hardwork or are you just clowning on nairaland today? |

Without a free and fair elections we will continue having such tainted illegitimate leaders and Nigeria will never progress even in the next 500 years and will actually get worse daily |

I knew tinubu would be a total failure, so all of us that didn’t support him are now vindicated because we would never support back to back failures like buhari and tinubu who have ruined a once beautiful country and pride of black Africa with bolekaja policies that wiped away sources of livelihood for the poor and middle class within a few years and increased insecurity by 500% from where they met it |

12inchess: Can you take a leave of absence from a new job. I've been there for less than a year and just passed my probation period of 6 months. You can use it through FMLA which is federal law and mental health which you already have documented is one of the reasons for using FMLA with that your job secured when you are away. Also if you are tired of US due to the issues you are having, you might consider filling for disability. State of Ohio I think is easier to get it and when you get it that would be about a third of what you earn now and that would be more than $1-2k and you can rent a place and live in Nigeria for sometime until you recover. You can google and read reviews of attorneys that specialize in that in your state but I would advise you tug it out a little big till you get the citizenship based on the mess currently going on. Most of the people in Nigeria do not understand what you are going through because you actually need to live in America to understand America |

usmanpogo: This is one of the reasons people don't take ibos serious I don't know how you came about 60% of businesses in Nigeria but let's entertain your fantasy. The questions are : Why are you not doing those businesses in the SE ? This might be another self confession that the SE is a dead zone. Why are your brothers and sisters all over the country seeking economic opportunities ? If you really own 60% percent of businesses. You guys must love Nigeria so much that you decided not to invest in your region 😂 They say charity begins at home except this doesn't apply to the SE 😂 Since the end of the civil war Nigerian government heave almost zero investments in SE unlike they have done in your area but even at that igbos are not confined to space a space in timidity like your people that’s why igbos continues investing igboland ( travel to igboland and see for yourself) and developing in areas with federal infrastructure supports like Lagos , Abuja , port harcourt, west Africa etc. We can bet that if you travel to ph ,Kano , abuja , etc the houses built by your people not to talk of investments are not up to 20 as your people who travel to those areas mostly drive okada , taxi , sell agbo etc no denigration intended my brother but it’s the fact |

LegendHero: I think most well to do Ibos live outside their region. Those one outside their region are what give false sense of importance.
South East as a region is so poor and have lesser economic activities in the real sense. Most economic attributes they attribute to them is from their fellow Ibo residing in other region and going back home for x y z.
Their consumption is actually outside not inside the region.
So if their official population is 100 for example, over 30 might be outside that region already and those 30 have more purchasing power than the rest of the 70 remaining at home.
I think I am now starting to believe Soludo statistics How you been to Igboland before or you go imagine something inside your head begin talk . Investment in Awada alone not to talk of onitsha or Enugu or Aba or Awka etc encompass most of Ibadan alone |
