HealthRe: 170 Million Nigerians Living In Dirty Environment ― Report by Abasman007: 6:58am On Jan 10, 2021
Hunchogee:
Performance indicators from a study by Clean-up Nigeria (CUN) has shown that the number of Nigerians living in an unclean environment has increased from 68 million in 2019 to 170 million in 2020.

The study also rated Abuja as the cleanest city in Nigeria, while Akwa Ibom State emerged as the cleanest state in the country in the study.

The results were the outcome of a 15 member national technical study group on the state of the Nigeria environment report 2020 with focus on the cleanliness index ratings of states and cities/towns in Nigeria conducted by CUN with support from global project partners from Canada, USA, Germany, France and Australia.

This is contained in a statement issued by the National Co-ordinator/Secretary, National Technical Study, Group Prince Ene Baba-Owoh.

CUN said the study was scored on five performance indicators via physical verification 20 per cent and the deployment of GEO-Eye-1 satellite that has the highest resolution imagery system in the world which is able to collect images with a ground resolution of 0.41 meters (16 inches) in panchromatic and multi-spectral from the orbit every quarter year-round and gives accurate reliable data.
The study further said it applied five performance indicators which include “streets/road cleanliness (30 per cent), vegetation/drain control (20 per cent), waste management service (30 per cent) public opinion poll+ social media (10 per cent), knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) of hygiene and sanitation of the people (10 per cent), totalling 100 per cent.

The 2020 study ran from December 2019 to November 2020 with quarterly evaluation.

Ebonyi State came a distant second, scoring 44 per cent to Akwa Ibom’s 80 per cent. Lagos, Bauchi, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Cross River, Rivers, Plateau, Niger and Ekiti States were placed third to 10th respectively in the descending order. While Kogi was the lowest-ranked state in the study.

In the cleanest city category, Abuja and (not the whole FCT,) scored 68 per cent to come first, followed closed by Uyo which scored 63 per cent.

“Ikeja, the capital of Lagos State, placed third with 44% while Maiduguri, the capital city of Borno State, came last in the category,” the statement noted.

The study observed a significant drop in the level of waste management in Nigeria, especially in the areas of equipment most of which have been grounded and unserviceable.

The most disturbing of the study’s observations is that Nigeria still remains the number one country in the world in the practice of open defecation.

It says that “the practice of open defecation in all the 36 states of the Federation and FCT has not reduced.”

“Performance indicators from the studies also show that the number of Nigerians living in the unclean environment has increased from 68 million in 2019 to 170 million in 2020.”

It also reveals that only three states in the country, namely Lagos, Oyo and Abuja operate sanitary landfills in waste management while the rest still operate open dumping,” the statement added.

In terms of waste management privatization which is part of the millennium set goals with 2020 as deadline, the study said that many governments are still far from achieving the goal as most are directly involved in the management of waste rather than privatizing it which would have improved service delivery.

The study, therefore, recommends that the government should hands-off direct management of waste but should engage the private sector to ensure service delivery and job creators.

The study also observes that the informal sector operators of waste recycling and reuse enterprises recorded lower patronage and 37 per cent in 2020 as against 43 per cent in 2020 as against 43 per cent in 2019..

PoliticsRe: 4 A’ibom Communities Donate 40 Hectares Of Land To NALDA For Youth Engagement.. by Abasman007: 6:48am On Jan 10, 2021
Ilaumoh:
4 A’Ibom communities donate 40 hectares of land to NALDA for youth engagement in agribusiness..

As Federal Government reinstates commitment to diversify the economy through agriculture, four communities including Ikot-Obong, Ikot-Ufen, Ukana Mkpa Eyop, and Ikot-Ukpong Akpa Edem and Ikot-Ikpon under Ebong Clan of Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, weekend donated 40 hectares of land to the National Agricultural Land Development Agency, NALDA, for youth engagement in agribusiness.

The donation was made in order to transform agricultural practices in the area and to tackle youth unemployment under the National Young Farmers Scheme driven by NALDA.

The donation of the 40 hectares of land was received by the Executive Secretary, NALDA, Prince Paul Ikonne, who maintained that the government is committed to ensuring 1000 youths are engaged by NALDA under the scheme from each of the 774 local government areas of the country.
Ikonne also explained that the 40 hectares would be developed in order to engage about 500 youths from the four communities that donated the land, which they will be engaged in palm plantation, intercrops, and animal husbandry.

He said: “Now that the community has donated land our responsibility is to develop the land using agriculture, and that is what we are going to impact the youths and we will engage them into meaningful food production and modern agriculture.

“What we are going to be using the 40 hectares is going to be for palm plantation and intercrop activities, engaging roughly 200 youths from these communities that have donated the land.

“For animal husbandry, we are going to do goat and poultry farming and we are not going to engage not less than 300 or 500 farmers directly, and that gives you a picture of how the communities will like under a year.”

Meanwhile, the NALDA boss assured that the fund is already captured in the 2021 budget for the project and it will commence development of the land anytime soon and there is no cause for alarm.

“What we are saying here is not going to happen in the next 40 years it is in this budget year we are entering in 2021 because it is already captured in the budget, and Mr President has already made the funds available for the project”, he stated.

Also speaking was the Akwa Ibom State Coordinator, NALDA, Imoh Imoh, who called on other community leaders to key into the project and donate lands to NALDA in order to add value to their young people who are unemployed now.

“The scheme is open to all communities in the country, and other community leaders in Akwa Ibom State should take advantage and participate in the programme.

“What we want to do at NALDA is to come and farm to feed the nation and get our youths employed and attain food sufficiency because hunger does not know political colouration, hunger is a human factor, and we want to use this opportunity to appeal to everybody to tap into what NALDA is doing, talk and engage us because we are ready to assist”, he added
Earlier speaking on behalf of the communities that donated their land to NALDA, Ikot-Ukpong Village Head, HRM Obong Mfon Willian Akpan, called on NALDA to consider farm roads, water supply, and other basic amenities that would boost the proposed farm in the area, and also promised support to work with the agency.

“The problem we have here is water supply, road and others in order to enable us to have a befitting farm, today there is no water there, tractors and others. The four communities are ready to work with NALDA in this project”, Idem said.

Ikonne also disclosed that the fund for the project is part of the recently signed 2021 Budget by President Muhammadu Buhari, hence there is no cause for alarm as far as funding is concerned.

my number is on my signature. I wonder why GA doesn't grow in Nigeria. And I has alot of prospects. I plan to get one small Cessna later in nearest future to cruise Al round Nigeria and land on any airstrip. It is my dream sha
Cessna is old an is supposed to be faced out by now.. 152 is ancient..
Ga won't grow cus there's no one to make it grow...my research shows that its cheaper to make aircrafts here than make them abroad.. plus about certificates, if you make a good aircraft it'll attract the Americans and Europeans... A company like Piper might ask for rights to produce your aircraft and sell, certificate will come only if a good aircraft comes.... but about selling my idea? No way..
I'll build on it..

he seems a down to earth person..

I suggest you write officially.. ask for an appointment to make a presentation..

don't send in full details of your proposal. just a brief summary.. enough to wet his appetite..

do some research to get his company address and all necessary details.. you may even be able to get his phone number in the internet!

write 2 summary proposals to him. 1st to him in his official capacity as chairman innoson and 2nd in his personal capacity i.e personally to him (in his personal name). in both, state your qualifications and ask for an appointment to make a formal presentation..

you may wish to make 2 requests.. either he buys the project off you or you both establish a company for the production. specific terms to be
agreed.

make sure receipt of every document submitted is acknowledged.

lastly pray hard!

p.s. make sure you remember me "in your kingdom" if it works!
no problem sir..

you should speak with the chairman of innoson group. he has a working arrangement with the Air Force. he might buy your idea or bring you onboard..
p.s. if you succeed with innoson I hope you'll remember that I gave you the idea and pay me generously for the "professional advice"...
I wouldn't forget anuoan that lifts me up...
How do I get in cincont with innoson chairman.

I don't have the funds to do sir.. I'm looking for funds to make the prototype then prospective customers will test with it and place orders... That's how it's done.

I am an aircraft engineer. So many thing needs to be considered in this ur project. The most important is market. Where is ur target market? Do u know that GA doesn't work in Africa? When I say GA, I mean general aviation which comprises of light aircrafts like glider, Cessna training aircraft ls etc which means ur market is either America or Europe or Asia. And those places, u need to be certified by FAA, EASA etc for ur aircraft to be accepted to fly there and it cost a whole lots to get certified or certificate of airworthiness there. Then as an investor, I would like to know ur market and when I start getting returns. Bro I ain't doubting ur dreams o but I can advise u to write emails to already established light aircraft manufacturers like Cessna, diamond aircraft company, piper etc and share ur idea with them. They might buy the idea and build it for you. Secondly, you can meet Nigeria airforce or Nigerian college of aviation technology to share ur idea with them. So help u God. Amen
please give me your number... Do you know that as GA doesn't work here in Nigeria that it is a big gold mine because the population and is growing and needs smaller aircrafts to transport them on fast short trips... It'll be cool, because we both know that comparing security, bad roads, time to what GA can do to fill that gap.... Is like making plans for a gold mine... An engine running on 10ltrs an hour is more economical than any automobile that consumes the same amount of fuel, in that what an aircraft can do in 1hr a hiace bus will do in 3hrs.

You have a good proposal here. why not borrow or source for fund yourself and establish this ur dream urself and be a millionaire for life if only u can achieve it and it become sellable to public.
nobody will invest huge money on a business that has already escalated in the market with top brand like boeing and airbus. aircraft is all about safety, is your propose aircraft that secured?
the world wil wait for you if only u can do it yourself.
thank you sir .I wish I had the funds.

Boeing makes airliners.
What I want to make is a light sport aircraft..
The market is still a baby

Are you a business loving person?

Do you have money laying around and you are wondering what to do with it? Don't buy that car yet..

I can build aircrafts, standard salable light sport aircraft, with retractable gears... It's going to be the first of it's kind in Africa..

I call it "The African PARDUS²" .. it'll cost 12millon to bring somthing standard up, and because of the kind project it is, it'll attract attention and make you the investor and me the builder popular. The selling price of the class of are airplane I want to make costs, $85,000 on the least (32,385,000) depending on your share in the company, you get paid each time an aircraft is sold. For life!!

You could become a millionaire for life..

A man established a Zoo and made the entrance fee #300, no one went there

He reduced it to #200 still no one came, he now reduced it to #10 but still no one showed up.

Finally he made the Entrance Free and soon the zoo was filled with people. He gently locked the gates and release the Lions, then he made the Exit Fee #1000 and everyone paid.

MORAL LESSON
As you go about in life beware of Free offers, they can be terrible.

Bring 10k and get 20k within 45mins without lifting a finger.

There is dignity in labour.
