Business / Re: Fraud Alert: Beware Of Paper Chain It Limited by abbe7(m): 1:16am On Oct 02, 2014
kakulus94: Absolutely fantastic, I'm highly grateful for your insightful comments. We gave all the documents to an experience clearing agent who confirmed that all were fake. We have reported to Efcc and u.k police. I will report to our bank as you suggested. Thanks so much.

Just too sad. u should have done ur homework well. It doesn't stop at business registration confirmation. How about past Bills of Lading, past SGS reports of shipments for verification, references, third party investigation. The seller's copy and paste website reeks of scam. Just too obvious.

Globally, a lot of fraud - intent companies are legitimately registered with bank accounts but with fake information to take in hits like urs and become stale after use. The address could be fake, the telephone number could be a virtual call forwarding +44 series, and probably the ip address masked or diverted. It will take high calibre intelligience officers to unravel this.

Truth is, It doesn't take much to "ask", even if u know, its always safe to "ask". And this is a lesson for anyone else who wants to go into international trade.

Firstly, the CIF price of $7410 for a whole 20ft container is a sham especially at a time when paper pulp, a material used in making A4 paper has gone 30% expensive.

$7410 translates to $0.95 CIF per ream. which legitimate seller will offer u a price that cheap? At a period when prices are $1.6 - $2.0 upwards.

Secondly, when has uk of all places been a export producer of A4 paper? They are end users too. Ur sources should have been within Brazil, Portugal, Indonesia, Thailand and China. Mind u, there are a bevy of scammers too in these countries, but with a vigillant eye u can brush them off ur shoulders.

Thirdly, its wrong... Just so wrong to do 30% advance deposit with a first time seller, when u have safer options of L/C and Escrow or have a third party investigate the company. The best bet would have been to "visit" the company "urself" and transact "directly".

Even the 100% L/C is not so safe cos fake documents, Bills of Lading, inspection reports can be sent to ur bank to effect the payment whereas there was no shipment or u may be taken for a ride on a fake or cloned shipping company website.

Its a good thing for you to report to EFCC, your bank and the foreign bank. Try open a case under the Economic and Specialist Crime which is a branch of the Specialist Crime Directorate within London's Metropolitan Police.

All in all don't be discouraged. My regards.

No probs

U can try these few:

www.fruits.co.za
www.jabfruits.co.za
www.safe.co.za

Negotiate directly and request certain health certifications.

Most imports come by air due to d nature of d goods and quicker way to bring in goods but however more expensive. Delivery from SA to Nigeria, around a week.

For container imports, u might be given a reefer container where the fruits will be packed under a certain controlled cool temperature to preserve fruit life span. Delivery from SA to Nigeria, 2 weeks at d most.

You will need to register with Nafdac before import as it concerns human consumption.

Apart from negotiating with these fruit suppliers, never forget to ask what shipping coys they intend to use so u can do ur ground work as regards to which has an affordable freight cost and a good terminal, where d container is destined to be stacked.

An array of shipping coys u can meet with are PIL, Hanjin, MSC, Niledutch, Maersk (< expensive). Its important u meet and compare freight and also see to it if u can be granted certain import privilledges and concessions which is very important if u favourably seek a repeat in ur imports.

Its very important u do thorough findings so u are not caught unawares..

There is nothing new. If u need import advice feel free.

Regards

Business / Re: Is Importation Of Wheat Flour Contraban? by abbe7(m): 11:59am On May 04, 2013
No, not a contraband. But the FG intends to control our over dependence of imported wheat esp from US. This they have done by increasing the import duty which was 35% and promoting cassava as substitutes.

My advice on ur export biz:

Never source for a buyer when u know u have no supply base. Scrambling for leads at d nick of time shows how vulnerable and unprepared u are.

Never over stretch your financial capacity to supply. If you can do a 20ft, 40ft FCL or LCL then stick to it, till u gain buyers confidence to upgrade volume.

Never call a buyer a "customer" esp. when he hasn't opened a legitimate L/C, or hasn't traded with u before.

As most of these ginger requests are meant to measure price with other suppliers of theirs from Indonesia, which is more closer in proximity to Bangladesh and India.

They usually request unrealistic prices.

Dried split ginger FOB (free on board) hovers around $1250 - $1350 per ton.

Freight from Lagos to Chittagong and Nhava Sheva for a 40 ft depends on the shipping line u intend to use. Your forwarder will do this for u. Until u get the freight cost then can u arrive at an actual CFR (cost and freight). It should range btw $3500 and $4000 for the full 40ft container.

The price u have to beat is the FOB price from Indonesia, which ur buyer wants to hear, and it falls around $800 - $1100 per ton.

If you do have d funds and drive, I did suggest u go for ginger powder. Add a little value to your product.

Welcome on board and my best regards in all your endeavours.

Trust me he ain't ready for that.

Objectively, ladies first; it was clearly written wives should submit.

Objectively, it was clearly written men should love.
(KJV)

Suggestively, loving entails a certain level of submission, and not of the same form for both parties. One has to love with respect and one has to be love with humility.

For a virtuous wife is peace upon to a man and his days will be long.
Romance / Re: Question For Guys by abbe7(m): 3:05pm On Jan 09, 2013
Mrs.Chima:

It also said in the same chapter that men submit to wives too!!!!

Point of Note:
It says wives should submit to their husbands and husbands should LOVE their wives. The bible never said men should submit.

There are different kinds of rice one can venture into importing, but adequate analysis should be taken care of in its profitability in the domestic market.

One can opt for commercial options; Thai rice, Indian rice, Pakistani rice, or Vietnam rice. Each vary in price and specification. Parboiled is mostly sort for locally and Thai rice is mostly prefered followed by the rest.

The rice is mostly shipped in 20ft containers, containing 500bags of 50kg rice. Approx 25tons.

Cost and Freight of rice to Apapa port can vary from $490 - $690 per ton. (Per ton means 20 of 50kg bags)

Other expenses you will incurr are:

Customs Duties: 30 - 40% of value of rice

Domestic Import Service Charge from Shipping Coy: Average of N58,000 for 20ft

Terminal Charges from Container Bay Operators: Average N56,000 (will be higher if container is transfered to a Bonded or private terminal)

Transport logistics to warehouse: Determined by location of warehouse, average of N35,000 - N60,000 within Lagos.

Customs Clearing Agent fees: it varies and is negotiable

Some prefer to import, while some prefer to buy already imported ones for distribution. Either way its still not enough to fill the gap in the increasing demand nationwide. And due to the ravaging floods in farms belonging to coastal states last year, rice is much more needed and imports cannot be banned now.

My best regards.
