chccho: OP learn this today, the only snakes that aren't venomous are pythons/constrictors (snakes that squeeze and crush their prey to death) every other type of snake is venomous, although very few snakes attack humans except when in danger All I know is every snake is dangerous dead or alive. I hate and fear them a lot |

He allowed Wike to nearly set the state on fire and that's what they'll remember. Wike threat of blowing? I only heard his say some people do not have the monopoly of violence and they should not threatening the president. If they born the pipeline, he’ll born the country if he's the president. Firstly, both parties are not fighting for the interest of people, and I believe they both lose out. Until they get to their right sense and ready to work for the interest of the people, I am with Mr president. |

Politics › State Of Emergency In Rivers State Is The Right Call by Abbeytoy(op): 10:26am On Mar 19, 2025 |
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's declarations of a state of emergency in Rivers State is both necessary and opportune. The political turmoil in the state has reached a critical point, with both sides purportedly receiving support from militant organisations. While Asari Dokubo appears to be the sole significant Ijaw militant leader who supports Governor Siminalayi Fubara, former Governor Nyesom Wike has the backing of other influential figures. Fubara clearly does not have a monopoly on the use of force.
Prior to taking this strong action, President Tinubu attempted to resolve the disagreement multiple times. He originally invited both sides to settle their disagreements amicably, but they refused, leaving the case to the courts. In another attempt to restore peace, the president called a meeting with important state leaders to establish a long-term solution, but no tangible progress was made.
Tensions rose when some militants, acting on previous threats, began targeting oil pipelines over the weekend—acts that tragically continued today. Faced with the looming possibility of widespread violence and economic sabotage, the president's decision to declare a state of emergency is a proactive effort to prevent a total breakdown in law enforcement.
Importantly, this intervention assures that Rivers State workers do not face the implications of frozen state accounts, which could interrupt critical services. With only Asari Dokubo's organisation openly backing Fubara, limiting additional disturbance is possible, unlike in prior periods when many militant factions banded together against the government.
Anyone who opposes the president's decision is either playing dirty politics or does not care about the well-being of the people of Rivers State. Such people appear to be pleased to watch innocent citizens suffer as a result of a catastrophe they did not cause. This state of emergency is more than just a precaution; it is an important step towards protecting the people of Rivers State, maintaining peace, and protecting the nation's critical resources from further harm. |

onatisi: Immediately they started blowing u pipelines, Tinubu had no choice , only a state of emergency can restore normalcy. The same Nigerians now are the ones who would have been blaming Tinubu if the militants had continue to blow pipeline and they would have said that Tinubu is too slow ,he should have taken action bla bla bla. Now fubara is gone ,house of assembly is gone at least for a while, let everyone go and cool off a bit . No reasonable leader will allow a gang of political terrorists to hold the nation to ransom by destroying the nation source of revenue. The lowing up of the pipelines is the tipping point This is my stand too |

SalamRushdie: What is fubara guilty of ? Being governor?
The entire crux of this problem comes from Wike trying to be Governor through puppetship , a scenario that's very strange to our constitution No complaints with the constitution, bombing of house of assembly, spending money unconditionally by not presenting the budget. |

richmond500: As a Rivers man, I do not have a problem with the declaration, my problem is the message. Tinubu only accused Fubara and leaving out those 27 lawmakers and their Abuja father The lawmakers are not guilty at the moment. Do you want to blame them for trying to do their constraintstution right by removing Fubara who has been found guilty by a court of law? |

SalamRushdie: The problem in Rivers State is simple , Wike a Federal Minister wants to be also be the defacto governor rivers State and instead of Tinubu to call him to order he instead want to suspend the elected governor Why do you people leave what you should address and keep attacking Wike? Is Fubara guilty or not? Wile is not a lawmaker at the moment |
