Lol. Atiku’s votes are intact. The same cannot be said of Tinubu and Obi's votes. Jonathan will clear the Southsouth, clear the Christian middlebelt and still get a substantial votes in the North from those who would have voted Tinubu.

Former President Goodluck Jonthan will attempt to return to the presidency using the Peoples Democratic Party as the platform to actualize his renewed presidential ambition, Vanguard gathered authoritatively on Sunday.

A top official in the Jonathan’s team confirmed to Vanguard on Sunday that the decision to use the PDP followed extensive deliberation over where his chances were brighter in returning to power in order to provide quality leadership to the country amid growing hardship and poverty.

The confirmation of PDP as the channel through which Jonathn hopes to use to and return to power, immediately opened a floodgate of struggle by entities believed to be pushing him to contest, to jostle for the purchase of his nomination form, which the factionalised party has pegged at N100 million.

APC NWC Waives Screening Requirements for President Tinubu Ahead of Primaries
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially waived the screening requirements for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, clearing him to participate in the party’s upcoming primary elections without appearing before a screening committee.

At its 188th meeting held today, the NWC resolved to deem President Tinubu as duly screened in line with the APC Constitution. The decision was taken under the powers vested in the committee by Article 13.4 (xiii) and (xiv), which allow it to organise primaries and grant waivers in special circumstances when it serves the best interest of the party.

In a statement signed by APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka after the meeting, the NWC highlighted the overwhelming endorsements and votes of confidence President Tinubu has received from major stakeholders, including the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), the leadership and members of the National Assembly, and other organs of the party at the APC National Summit of May 22, 2025, and subsequent statutory events.

The party noted that as the incumbent President and leader of the APC, who was already screened and cleared ahead of the 2022 presidential primaries, requiring his physical appearance before another screening committee at this time would be “redundant and unnecessary.”

PoliticsPresident Bola Ahmed Tinubu Met With Global Investors In Paris, France by abc115(op): 8:19pm On May 05
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has met with global investors in Paris, France, emphasising transparency and fiscal discipline, and explaining the rationale for the swift implementation of bold reforms.

At the meeting, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Taiwo Oyedele, highlighted Nigeria's strong GDP growth in dollar terms in 2025.

He said Nigeria recorded 11.2% GDP growth in dollar terms last year, a record that reinforced the country's ambition to achieve a $1 trillion economy in 2030.

Oyedele emphasised the government's near-term priorities of translating reforms into results for the Nigerian people. He also pledged to publish quarterly financial data.

The Director General of the Debt Management Office, Mrs Patience Oniha, assured investors of the government’s responsible approach to debt financing and its focus on sustainable debt management.

The investors were from Citibank and France's Amundi, led by Valerie Baudson. There were also BlueCrest, the Britain- and South Africa-based Ninety One, Kirkoswald Capital, Principal Finisterre, US groups Prudential Global Investment Management (PGIM) and Mesarete Capital.

President Tinubu, who left Nigeria on Sunday for a three-nation trip, said the economic reform program of his administration includes measures to remove economic distortions and stabilise macroeconomic indicators, laying the foundation for sustained inclusive growth.

He said his government is committed to deepening reforms, enhancing transparency across the oil value chain, and implementing a multi-pronged security strategy, including police decentralisation and disrupting terrorist financing.

"The focus remains on policy stability and diligent execution to ensure these strategic shifts translate into concrete benefits for all Nigerians", President Tinubu said.

Some of the investors who spoke at the meeting commended the government's transformative reforms and expressed optimism about the Nigerian economy.

One of the investors asked President Tinubu about his post-2027 agenda. He promised to strengthen fiscal discipline and transparency, and to deliver policy consistency.

PoliticsNow I Know Tinubu's Policies Aren't The Problem - Farooq Kperogi by abc115(op): 7:44am On May 03
By Farooq Kperogi

As I pointed out in my Saturday Tribune column, a common refrain among online devotees of Nigerian opposition figures is that they would rather endure Tinubu until 2031 than support any opposition politician other than their preferred candidate, even as they denounce Tinubu’s policies day and night.

That is both mystifying and clarifying. It suggests that, for many of them, the quarrel is not really with Tinubu’s governance, ideology or policies. It is with the fact that their favorite politician is not the one presiding over them.

They would tolerate, rationalize, perhaps even loudly defend the very policies they now condemn if those policies came wrapped in the colors of their own candidate.

They would tolerate, rationalize, perhaps even loudly defend the very policies they now condemn if those policies came wrapped in the colors of their own candidate.

If you are prepared to live through four more years of what you claim to find intolerable simply because you cannot bear the thought of another opposition figure succeeding Tinubu, then Tinubu’s policies are not your problem. Tinubu himself is.

More precisely, your problem is Tinubu's occupancy of a seat you believe belongs to someone you admire, worship or share the same identity with.

And that is fine. I only appreciate the clarity. Opposition infighting has stripped many people’s politics of its costume and shown that what often disguises as principle is merely identitarian investment.

Since many, perhaps most, people don't really have a problem with Tinubu's policies and can tolerate them for four more years as a price to deny the ascendancy of people they don't like, I think it's more psychically liberating to make peace with his second term.

PoliticsADC Is No Longer A Viable Option - Kwankwanso by abc115(op): 12:25am On May 03
Clarification on My Political Position

We have noted recent media reports and discussions suggesting a possible realignment within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) due to the current challenges facing the party.

In light of the misleading narratives in the public domain, I wish to state categorically that no final decision has been taken regarding my political future or that of my political associates.

The recent Supreme Court judgment, while affirming the legitimacy of the David Mark-led National Working Committee (NWC), also remitted the matter back to the High Court. This has left the party in a precarious position.

In addition, the Federal High Court has recently ruled to delegitimise the party’s recent convention. The Attorney General of the Federation has also strangely applied to a Federal High Court to deregister the ADC.

We left the NNPP due to externally influenced legal problems that made our stay perilous. The ADC has now been also forced into this difficulty.

Consequently, like other major stakeholders, we have commenced wide-ranging consultations — including with leaders from the NDC, PRP and others to explore the best options for protecting our democratic interests. We shall announce our decision in the soonest possible time.

On the issue of presidential candidacy, I wish to recall my consistent record as a committed democrat. In the 2014 APC presidential primary, I came second to President Muhammadu Buhari (whom I fully supported to victory), with Atiku Abubakar third, Rochas Okorocha fourth, and the late Sam Nda-Isaiah fifth. Similarly, in 2019, I contested the PDP presidential ticket and immediately supported the winner, His Excellency Atiku Abubakar, serving as the campaign’s coordinator in the North. I have always placed national interest and party unity above personal ambition.

Furthermore, the ADC is yet to zone its presidential ticket or take any decision on a candidate. I have therefore neither declared any intention to run for president nor endorsed any aspirant. All speculations to the contrary are premature and unfounded.

My absence from the two recent ADC stakeholders’ meetings was due to unavoidable personal commitments. I promptly communicated my apologies to the party leadership.

We shall continue to engage constructively at all levels. Any definitive position on our political direction will be communicated formally through official channels at the appropriate time.

PoliticsBadagry-Sokoto Expressway: Tinubu Building Roads On Top Of Mountains In Taraba by abc115(op): 3:02pm On Apr 29
See President wey una dey pity. Somebody that is building road on top of mountain.🤣🙆‍♀️

I told you, if you see any road that is not in good condition, happily tag the President. He knows what he came for.

That Lagos–Cotonou/Badagry road, it is child’s play for him. And this is even the perfect time to fix it.

Those claiming they are the ones that will save Nigeria are not going to do anything.
They don’t even have the kind of time the President is dedicating to fixing roads.
They will come and waste eight years and go their way. I know what I’m saying.

This particular President knows what he came for. Stop pitying him on certain things, tag him with confidence and leave the rest.
He will fix it.

That road is a priority. It should reflect the prestige of Nigeria so that when people enter, they will nod their head and say, yes, I am in Nigeria.

To those claiming to be messiahs, they dont even have any reasonable achievements, but that is a story for another day.
One thing you can take home is that when it’s their turn, they will not even do anything.

However, that is not the point.
The point is this: now that President Tinubu is in office, if you see anything that needs fixing and it is not already captured in the plan or budget, tag him immediately and leave the rest.

Because it is when he leaves that people will understand what I’m saying. Not everyone can be like him.

Yes, this administration has its shortcomings, and Nigeria is a lot. But that is not the essence of this post.

The Lagos–Badagry road is small thing for the President. He is doing even more than this. So with confidence, tag him and the relevant authorities. They know what to do.

When is the ADC sale starting ? Must it wait for supreme court ? Can we see that this is reason INEC did what they did to derail smooth transition, why is the supreme court delaying, and possibly they will say go back to federal high court, what happens to ADC as there shall be time dilemma ?
