You should have stated atleast 19000* number of years (if you will use the university funding) you will be in that school. I am sure your funding even covers the entire stay yearly.

The fact that they asked for a year does not mean you will put just for one year.

Tell us what you wrote in available funds on a major CIC form. I believe you that is where your mistake is.

At submission, I had just 600k in my account (including 300k transferred by bank-to-bank from my dad) and my dad(who wrote a letter of support for me, not letter of sponsorship) had 1.2m.

Tell me how you tackled finance. I dey vex for you. lol

It's quite sad to see such profile being delayed, however I think the questions which you highlighted can help to ascertain the cause.

How much was the closing balance of your brother's SOA, and does he have other dependants?

Secondly, did you state the long term benefit of having an M.Sc in mathematics in your SOP. And like @thesoj mentioned, what have you been involved in between your NYSC and now. Is there any correlation with what you intend achieving after the M.Sc?

Did you highlight specific topics in your M.Sc that can be applied back home to add direct economic value to a particular course?

In all, I think you should focus on the financials and your SOP. Although you got a scholarship, you still need to have/proof good home tie or at least an alternative financial buffer.

These are my views though.

I am not a guru but I think you SOP lack some key points and that could be why the VO was not convinced that you will return apart from insufficient funds issues. First of all you didn't tell the VO why you choose the program. Yes you might have gained a first class in mathematics but you should let the VO know why you are in the mathematics field and why you chose Canada-at this point you mention your funding offer as one of the factors. Again you didn't tell what you will gain from the Msc program which will boost your career opportunities back in Nigeria-you must know that you should convince the VO that you are just a student who will return home after your studies and not a potential immigrant. Also, you should address what you expect from the Msc program itself. Lastly no need to bring up the benefits of NYSC cause I think the VOs already know.



My 2 cents tho. Best of luck in your reapplication.

Because insufficient funds is not tick doesn't mean we should ignore. I think you should look into increasing your funds the account balance both of you showed is not up to living expenses. The only issue I can figure out in your application is insufficient fund. Your closing balance can barely takeup your flight ticket not to talk of your living expenses. Like I said in my last post, especially to those msc applicants who are on either full or partial funding, you shouldn't rely on your funding alone to avoid stories that touch, it's always good to fulfill all righteousness and dont leave all stones unturned because your application will be treated same way they will treat a sponsored app (no preferential treatment). This vo are always skeptical about funding either internal or external because they know that most funding do come with conditions that you must meet during the period of your study to maintain your funding and they are not sure if you will be able to always meet up with those conditions. This is why it is good to convince them that you are capable of taking on the responsibilities if at all anything happen to the source of funding along the line by presenting more convincing SOA (your SOA should do the talking) but order for ur gcms note and lets have a proper clarification. Now my humble advise to all msc funding beneficiaries, you are so lucky enough to have gotten funding(I.e full or partial) and it is not by your power but by the grace of God and his mercy. God has played his part and your approval now lies in your hands. Do not take any changes to jeopardise this great opportunity, strive hard to raise money and let the vo's sleeping dog lie. To all that was delayed, nothing good comes easy, don't let it weigh you down. In life, be prepared to fall and rise again but u are not yet a failure until you fall and decides not to rise again. Repackage your app and refire,do not lose hope coz everything is possible. To all trv hopefuls, keep ur hopes alive, never stop praying and u will have the coz to share your testimony soon. And a big congratulations to all trv approvals it will surely end in praise for us all. Gracias!
