PoliticsRe: ‘money Gifted To Super Falcons Can Pay 16,000 Doctors, 66,000 Teachers, Others’ by abdsamad(m): 6:36am On Aug 01, 2025
One of the biggest problems is the president announcing cash rewards to fellow Nigerians in dollars, if that was indeed what he did.
Are we proud of the naira or are we not.

As for those saying they deserve it... It's okay, they'll cut half of all govt worker salaries for the next 3 months to gift the girls, do you still think they deserve anything.

We are so shortsighted. Just cos they are not visibly cutting salaries to pay the super girls does not mean they aren't cutting salaries to pay them. If you take money that ought to be used for something beneficial to hardworking masses and give it to some girls who worked really hard to kick a ball, you are still taking something away from those who now never had it. It is still taking away.

Abeg, all these noise is just noise. Hardly anyone here hasn't already made up their minds. Reading this will not make them sudden see reason

Wow!

You're delaying, like billions of others, on the most important emergency - the salvation of your soul!

As it is now because you are not IN Christ:
+ Your spirit is DISCONNECTED from the Spirit of God. This means that you are spiritually dead.
+ If you die now you will be permanently separated from God forever.
+ JESUS came to prevent this from happening.
+ He is GOD'S GIFT to you - John 3:16
+ If you BELIEVE Him and RECEIVE Him into your heart, you will BE SAVED today, not tomorrow, not after death - John 1:10-12

Let no man deceive you!
Jesus says I am the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE! NO MAN comes to God except through Him!

No Jesus! No Life!
Know Jesus! Know Life!
Religion kills! Jesus saves!

Revelation 3:20
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and OPEN THE DOOR, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Proper response in an emergency includes the fact that you know what to do immediately

Pause and Think should not be a / cause a delay in an emergency!
Every emergency is different. You take a few seconds or minutes (depending on the situation) to assess and choose which of the thousands of plans in your head is most appropriate. Not thinking kills
CrimeRe: Maduba Ceemore Strips Female Birthday Celebrants Nude At Nightclub In Rivers by abdsamad(m): 11:32am On Jun 14, 2025
1. If this is exactly what happened then ofcos we should be outraged on their behalf. Nothing they did to him makes all of that acceptable. If he was responding to their aggression, he went too far.

Ofcos, one needs a complete story before making judgment

2. If you live in a village where they say the forest is evil and you decide to argue that why should the forest be evil and it's unfair you're not allowed to go there then who do we blame when you walk with your two left legs into that forest at night to prove a point of independence.

Independence and common sense of Self-preservation should walk hand in hand.
A sharkinfested beach, no matter how beautiful it is is still a sharkinfested beach. Stay on the land if you have to go. Go into the water pre-accepting any consequences that follow.
CelebritiesRe: Wizkid, Davido & Burnaboy Are All Useless, All They Do Is Buy Cars - VDM by abdsamad(m): 11:04am On Jun 14, 2025
1. The discussion is about the celebrities who live showy lives. The whataboutism of what VDM has done is very telling. I don't know him and I'm happy for his records to be examined but not by shifting attention away from the topic

2. If a person murders random people in public but is also a world class surgeon who saves people's lives at night, do you excuse the gross negative impact he has on society because of his other good.

If Hitler saved 7 million Germans would that have made killing 7 million Jews okay?

Buying exotic cars in a manner that does nothing but create a false image of what it means to be successful in the minds of impressionable young ones is objectively bad. Period.

3. Yes it is their money and they can do whatever they want with it. But let's not do this LGBTQ mentality of a person simply living their truth. There's no your truth, there's only the truth, and the truth is that such behaviour contributes to social rot. It's the same way Kardashian is allowed to show her body as she wants but it is scientifically demonstrable that her actions makes the lives of young girls objectively worse by elevating negative stereotypes of body image.

Only the truth exists, not your truth. Crying about it doesn't change what it is

4. In the end, we are to blame. One minute we are singing the praises of Jose Murica (i hope i got the name correct) who recently died and was known for living a simple life as a president, the next we are praising people who live lavish lives on social media. It begs the question: what the heck were we celebrating about the first person.

I think it's because in the end we all know what is right but we also know we are too shallow to do it.

5. The Argument that they're not hurting anyone is as shortsighted as a... Umm, a shortsighted person. Living in a society means your existence always has an influence on others, good or bad.
A person sitting down smoking a cigarette may argue he's hurting no one but we know what second hand smoking does.
The more people who live extravagant lives your children see, the worse their mental health. Period

Kindness and social consciousness is contagious but so is selfishness and narcissistic thinking

Not always!
There's a time to be patient
There's a time to act fast
You're not patient in emergencies
Again, patience isn't to say you shouldn't do things. If you are not patient in an emergency you will join the victim. If someone is electrocuted do you rush to their aid or you pause and assess first. When sm1 is drowning do you jump in first or you assess the situation.

Patience isn't inaction

letting people walk all over you, turning you to their foot mat, is foolishness.

No amount of rationalization will stop it from being foolishness. When people realize you're too soft and a weakling, they'll take advantage of that and use your stup!d ass however they please.

When people know they'll always get away with whatever they do to you, why won't they continue doing it? Okoro.
People confuse a teaching about patience for one about inaction.
Patience isn't to say don't act, it means don't act in haste.

If you have to punish a child for example, don't punish in haste because you are so angry. You will do nothing but hurt them. If you can be patient and allow yourself to think, you may then choose what the best approach is, even if it is to punish the child.

If someone takes advantage of your good nature, it doesn't mean your good nature is the problem, it just means you learn to recognize them and be less generous with your time and property with them.

Summarily, patience isn't meant to prevent you from acting, it's meant to allow you to choose the best course of action then execute it.

They are not! They are worn down! And they are leaving!

I was on the fence about this guy's "evilness' but this one solidifies it for me.
20 years for something you should hope to get mostly right in 2 to 3 years.

Oya, let's hear from the minister of water how much it'll take to provide portable water nationwide... 100bn monthly for 100 years, maybe.
Water that people have sorted.

The more we realize we are not united and are not meant to be, the better for us. National things don't work in this country, period.
Let us accept that reality and let people embrace solar tech. Subsidize it for people, or at least stop preventing importation

I spend 30k per month, and it's honestly fair. Had to get rid of the ACs though cos those would have easily doubled my usage.
Perhaps when my income improves I'll get efficient ACs that won't threaten to send me back to the village.

If they can make power reliably available, some extra cost wouldn't be unfair

HealthRe: Patients Suffer: Abuja Hospitals Cry Out Over Lack Of House Officers by abdsamad(m): 6:15am On May 08, 2025
People still don't get it. It's not about how many you train, it's about the quality of the profession first of all.
Saving lives is not enough incentive for people to come and suffer.

In this economy, a house officer shouldn't earn less than 500k. If you do that and you similarly raise the amount those that will train them also earn, you have started thinking like someone who understands the problem. Then bring in adequate doctors to the existing facilities before you start talking about building 1000 million hospitals somewhere. Adequate as in adequate not 3 doctors working like they're trying to build the pyramids. From there, listen to the actual doctors... not clueless asshole ministers and hospital administrators who are the root of the problem.

HealthRe: Man Loses Wife As NEPA Takes Light Mid-operation,no Fuel In Hospital’s Generator by abdsamad(m): 11:46pm On Apr 27, 2025
Govt: Make solar power available at subsidized rates. People will generate their power just as they've been generating their water. Demand on PHCN reduces; everybody wins. Well, except for the bloodsuckers in power who profit from the status quo

Hospital Management: It's not all govt problem. There are some useless and clueless people making decisions who have no business in those positions. Being the most senior doctor does not mean you have the skillset to run a hospital. Let those who know and have the hospital interest at heart do the job. This one is personal cos I work with some incompetent fools at my workplace. It has turn to begging for them to provide enough mosquito nets for patients on admission to use. Fan, the poor patients don't have. Doctors requested for chair to be replaced, some idiot said we should wait that they have requested for fan and they'll approve the chairs together. Therefore, we should be managing. That was like 3 months ago. This is not from lack of money o, mind you. Just pure cluelessness. When we ask director to hire more doctors, he was talking nonsense about how the salary of one doctor will hire 2 lower level employees. Mind you, this is a university clinic, he is not the bursar in charge of money.
Not every director is worthy of that post. You can just go on being a consultant whatever you are. Let those who can manage be the ones to manage

You know what... Let me not be that guy.
I apologize for being cheeky with you.

You are correct that millions die for cruel leaders. You started making that point but you immediately fell off a cliff when you put the bully and the victim in the same category. Because that suggests you believe Zelensky should have rolled over rather than send millions to defend their country.
There are grey conflicts where people are merely being used, for example, you see thugs used on both sides in elections to make a rich person hold on to power or gain more power. But to equate the response of a community that was attacked unprovoked to the senseless invasion of their attacker is to muddle things up and get it really wrong.

'Do you not find it cruel that leaders who make decisions to start war are both alive'
Yes I find it cruel that leaders who make decisions to start wars live. I exclude the leaders who stand against them from that umbrella.

Yes, yes. Good strategy. Zelensky's country was invaded, his people were in a panic, he chose to stay with them rather than book the first flight out, and he didn't even run to hide in some protected bunker. But what he should have done was to go to the front lines, and get killed. Then some asshole who is sympathetic to Russia will take power and the war would be easily won.

Good thinking my friend. Very good thinking
PropertiesRe: Damages Done By Tenant Who Paid ₦‎250,000 Caution Fee (Video) by abdsamad(m): 7:14am On Apr 27, 2025
That's a one-sided story if I ever heard one.

FIrst, for a house like that the caution fee of 250k isn't much. I would expect higher TBH. The only problem is whether it is refunded or not. So, if the story is that they refused to pay back the caution fee and the culprit went crazy. Wellz, I guess they found someone who matches their energy.
That's probably not the case though.

He started by complaining the guy turned the house into a bakery. Did he hide it with a magic spell until the day he left. The caretaker must have been aware before now, and would have approved of whatever activity went on there. If it was bothering others they would have complained too. So, it tells me the person making the video is also shady cos they're clearly twisting the narrative to their advantage.
Ofcos it could mean that they truly never bothered to check on the house till the day they made this video, but that just means they neglected their duties as a caretaker.

Then they went into the house and showed the POP that fell through, and the door handles that were broken. Their insinuation was that the person purposefully damaged those things over the course of their tenancy. I respond by saying maybe.
Maybe the build quality was bad. The room with the caved in roof was downstairs not upstairs so it was not a roof leak. Perhaps the build quality was bad, and the door were made with poor materials so they broke down easily.
Who knows if the guy had complained in the past and the caretaker paid no heed or wanted them to fix things with their own money when they weren't responsible for the structures being built poorly in the first place.

I reserve any judgment here but the video is definitely suspicious in it's appeal.

alcuin:
Everyone currently has access to cutlasses, why are people not cutting each other down on slight provocation?

Guns aren't the only tools of violence. Why aren't we seeing violence with other tools?
Anyone can abuse their classteachers to their faces in the classroom but somehow most will probably choose not to do it or will only do it online where they have anonymity. I mean, if they get provoked enough in class, they still might, but they are just more likely to wait till later.

Cutlasses require you to get up close and personal with someone and you still might not succeed. A gun allows you to put some distance yourself, pick your moment and even get away with it. And you're more likely to succeed.

Makes sense, hmm?

Also, you carry a gun around concealed because it is otherwise useless in many cases, but not a cutlass. If people carried concealed cutlasses as a norm there would be a lot more cutlass attacks.
