Yes please, and look at that picture very well, Dakuku's replacement is the first guy left. He's Fulani. eagleu: |

And when will that be? Southerners steal public funds mostly for personal reasons and are ready to trade the future of their region for selfish reasons. I believe that the North builds up its people as structures. If they steal public money, they most often spend it on religious elements whether in Nigeria, or the Middle East, they develop and empower the next generation to take over. Where are these in the character of the South East or South West politicians who claim to be wiser but in truth, majority of them are fools. piippa: |
https://newsin2.com/northern-interest-groups-jostle-for-nimasa-top-job-as-uncertainty-surrounds-petersides-future/ By DOTUN OGUNADE Uncertainty presently surrounds the fate of the award-winning Director-General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMSA), Dr Dakuku Peterside, as his first four-year tenure comes to an end in a fortnight. The expectation within the industry and beyond is that Peterside will be re-appointed for a second term, given his outstanding track record in office. Peterside's reign as DG is said to have led to improved accountability, operational efficiency and stakeholder relations that have continued to elicit positive reactions across board. In the same vein, NIMASA, under him, has witnessed an increased trade relation in the sub-region and beyond with the agency leading the charge in reorganizing African Maritime Administration Agencies into a broad-based common ideology. The agency under his watch has also seen a massive improvement in Nigeria's Port State Control. Recently, Nigeria’s vessel inspection rating got a boost with 81.7 per cent with 636 ship inspections, a radical departure from her history of recurring lows, compared to South Africa which came second with 327 inspections for 2018, while Senegal came third with 270 inspections, during the period under review. Given this level of achievement, maritime industry watchers are optimistic his re-appointment is a done deal. But feelers from reliable Aso Rock sources appear to say otherwise, as there is said to be intense lobby going on, both internally and externally, for Peterside’s replacement. It was gathered that some external candidates are interested in the job, while some executive directors in the organization have also intensified lobby, activating their political contacts to try to get the nod of President Muhammadu Buhari. The appointment of Peterside, from Rivers State, as NIMASA DG is believed to have been part of the compensation for Transport Minister and former governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, a man who played a major role in the emergence of Buhari as president both in 2015 and 2019. His possible reappointment would follow a broad government trend of re-appointing competent heads of agencies and parastatals upon the expiration of their first tenures. A source who spoke with this correspondent pointed at the Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority, Miss Hadiza Bala Usman who was retained in her position; the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Godwin Emefiele, who was equally re-appointed for second term and Col. Hameed Ali (rtd), Director-General of the Nigerian Customs Service, among others. Analysts are speculating that if, for any reason, however, Peterside does not get a reappointment, it would mean that Amaechi, the supervising minister, has lost influence within the Buhari administration. Speculations are rife in this regard that one of the executive directors of the agency, who happens to come from the North, may have been penciled down by some Aso Rock power brokers for the job. “If this turns out to be the case, it is bound to cause political tremor because it would mean that the South-South would no longer head any parastatal of worth, even as Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita was only recently retired from her position as Head of Service of the Federation,” our source informed. The source also made reference to the replacement of Bayelsa born Matthew Seiyefa as head of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the subsequent appointment of Yusuf Magaji Bichi as his replacement had caused agitations, even as the controversial removal of Cross River State-born Justice Walter Nkanu Onnoghen from office as Chief Justice of Nigeria, inflicted wounds in the heart of many in the region and entire Southern Nigeria. It would also be recalled that only recently, the Buhari government replaced a South westerner, Babatunde Fowler, former Executive Chairman of Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) with another northerner, Mohammed Nami. Almost at the same time, Mr. Muiz Banire, another South westerner was removed from office as the chairman of the Assets Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON) and replaced by a northerner, Edward Adamu. The above had indeed followed the discreet appointment of Hajia Aisha Dahir-Umar to replace Mrs. Funsho Doherty as Director-General of Pension Commission (PenCom) after she was first used to replace Mrs. Chinelo Anohu-Amazu who was dismissed unceremoniously, even when it was constitutionally the turn of the South East to occupy the position. Already, there is restiveness among southern political leaders, the North inclusive, over the increasing lop-sidedness of appointments by President Buhari. Indeed, the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, had while speaking at an event to mark the 60th birthday celebration of the governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, in Kaduna recently, pointed out that under the current leadership, it appears that one must be a Muslim northerner to occupy certain positions in government, even as he warned that nepotism has expiry date. His comments had come on the heels of similar remarks by the Bishop of Sokoto Catholic Diocese, Matthew Hassan Kukah who noted, while delivering a homily at the burial ceremony of Michael Nnadi, a Catholic seminarian killed by bandits in Kaduna, that President Buhari had taken nepotism to an unprecedented level and that at the moment, to occupy any position of note in the country, one must be a core northern Muslim. Speaking in this regard, a prominent ...

March 3, 2019 Press Statement IGNORE RUMOURS OF ALEX OTTI'S STEP DOWN The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for the 2019 election in Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, is still very much in the race and has not stepped down for anybody. Consequently, the Alex Otti Campaign Organisation hereby states unequivocally that the report by an online media blog that Dr. Alex Otti has stepped down for the APC candidate, Uche Ogah, is false and deliberate attempt by desperate politicians to demoralise and confuse the Abia electorates. The Alex Otti Campaign Organisation urges Ndi Abia to remain focused in our resolve to vote Dr. Otti, on Saturday, March 9, 2019 thereby enthroning credible leadership at the government house in Abia State and not be distracted by false rumours by rejected and hopeless politicians and their collaborators in the fake media. Just on Friday, March 1, 2019 the Accord Party governorship candidate, Barr. Emeka Uwakolam, led his deputy and teeming number of his party members to the Alex Otti Campaign Organisation where he formally stepped down for Dr. Otti, declaring that the APGA candidate stands tall above all the other candidates in the race. Whereas this elicited excitement and hope across the political skyline of Abia State, it must have obviously sent shock waves across the camps of the opposition APC and the PDP, prompting the resort to fake news and propaganda by enemies of Abia State. Abia people should rest assured that Dr. Alex Otti is determined to win the March 9, 2019 election on the platform of APGA and will not trade that for anything. Just like we did in 2015, APGA will win the 2019 election, this time with even wider margin. We urge Ndi Abia to remain vigilant and not allow anybody to pull wool over our eyes as we conclude the journey to reclaim our dear state next Saturday, from the hands of marauders who have plundered the state for past 20 years. SIGNED Kazie Uko Director, Media and Publicity Alex Otti Campaign Organisation |

It gives me great pleasure to address you today. As you all know, the election to choose a new governor for our great state is slated for March 2nd 2018. It is an existentialist election for many reasons. Since the return of democracy in our country in 1999, the PDP has been in power in our state and has established a dynasty of corrupt, incompetent, selfish and occultic ruling class. This group has held our state hostage and pillaged her resources. Today, everyone agrees that Abia is the worst state in the South/East geopolitical zone. The story the government of Abia state tell, especially on paid TV commercials, is that Abia State is working and all things in Abia are bright and beautiful. In numerous TV commercials, the impression is created that the government is working, that roads are being constructed and that new markets are being built; that schools are being rehabilitated, that workers' salaries are being paid and that pensioners are being paid. But that is not the truth. The reality is that Abia is in trouble. Salaries are not being paid regularly to workers who toil under the sun and in the rain, to make the state work. Pensioners are called, “dead wood”. The government makes no plans for the teeming youths, so many have taken to Yahoo Yahoo, Kidnapping and other forms of criminality Between 1999 and 2018, is a period of 19 years. In that period, Abia State government has earned close to N2trillion. The question I want to ask is, what did the governments of the PDP in Abia state do with all that money? Recently, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, arrested Senator T. A Orji and asked him to account for N27billion; monies which he allegedly stole. As you also know, Chief T.A. Orji's godfather, his predecessor in office, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu is also answering the question of what he did with the monies belonging to Abia State. Shockingly, what happened under Chief Orji Uzo Kalu and Chief T.A. Orji is child's play compared to what is happening now in the government of their godson, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu. As they say in Abia, it is from grandfather to father and to son. According to their plan, Senator T.A Orji’s son, Chinedum Orji, alias Ikuku is standing by to succeed Ikpeazu in 2023. The PDP government in Abia state has created a dynasty of corruption, poor governance, looting and made the governance of Abia State a family business. We cannot continue to allow evil to thrive. Twenty years is enough time for a system to change. For 20 years, PDP has ruled Abia State and for 20 years they have failed woefully. Enough is Enough! My brothers and sisters, we all occupy important positions in our various families, villages and communities. We all have a role to play. We are moulders of opinion, we are influencers. We must show the light for our people to be free. I implore all of you, even though you do not live in Nigeria; get involved. Call your people in the family, call your people in the villages, call your people in the communities, Tell them to forget the propaganda of the government. Tell them to forget the handouts: the bags of rice, the bags of salt and the chicken change. Tell them to vote for APGA and Alex Otti to create a new Abia state. When our party APGA takes over power and I assume office as the Executive Governor of Abia State, I will immediately ensure a paradigm shift in the way things are done. I have set out a clear programme of action to achieve the following objectives: • Make the payment of salaries a first line item in the budget • Make Abia state safe and secure • Create a new future for the youths • Transform Aba into the Dubai of Africa • Launch a revolution for SMEs and large scale industries • Create export free zone to stimulate industry and commerce • Guarantee free and compulsory education up to secondary school • Promote sports and culture as a vehicle to creating jobs and recreations for the youths • Establish and run an accountable and transparent government you can trust. • Establish the Abia Safety Net, a social welfare scheme designed to cater for the aged, widows and the poor. I will build a new Abia State which you will be proud to call home. The fact is that where ever you go – Europe, America, Asia etc, Abia state will still be your home, the land of your birth. Support us to rescue our dearly beloved state; for our sake, for the sake of our children and for posterity. Thank you and May God bless you all Chief (Dr) Alex Otti OFR Ugwu Abia

The Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Kayode Fayemi, has told Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, that the inauguration of a judicial commission to probe his administration in the state is an exercise in futility. Speaking through his media aide, Yinka Oyebode, Fayemi said the governor’s action is at variance with the laws of the land which makes it subjudice for anyone to entertain a matter that is already before a court of competent jurisdiction. He said Fayose’s decision to go ahead with the inauguration of the panel, while two cases arising from the planned probe were still pending in court is presumptuous and ill-advised... Thanks to improvements in medicine, more of us are living longer. That means we have a heightened investment in making sure our brains stay in shape as we age, too. Lucky for us, advanced technologies have enabled researchers to understand how the brain works, what it responds to, and even how to retrain it. For instance, we know our brains prefer foods with high levels of antioxidants, including blueberries, kale, and nuts. We know that a Mediterranean diet, which is largely plant-based and rich in whole grain, fish, fruits, and red wine, can lead to higher brain functions. And we know that smiling can retrain our brains to look for positive possibilities rather than negative ones. Whether you’re 25 or 65, consider adopting these five simple rituals that cognitive scientists say can help your brain grow new cells, form new neural pathways, improve cognition, and keep your outlook positive and sharp. Here are the 5 rituals that can help your brains stay young… Read more @http://alabingo.com/category/clinic-matters-with-dr-uche/ |
