Legit1: Whatever the case may be,DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED!!!!Lmaoooo I never actually witnessed any mad person on the streets when I was younger. Only saw then in Nigerian films. But yeah thank you. ![]() |
abiL, what's to to?
Oga mumu. Typo. "To go" #yimu |
Legit1: Pardon my earlier rhetorics, now you have made it explicitly clear. I understand where you are coming from.Tbh, I'll focus on any institution(s) that want my help lol. I'm expecting a lot of them to discard my ideas because they might see me as too young. ![]() But I really wanna contribute to the mental health facilities in Nigeria.. If I don't die from the heat. ![]() |

Thanks for the mention. |
Legit1: Lmao! That tells you what to expect and more importantly get PREPARED for!Are you in the medical fields? |
ItsModella: I'm experiencing some jetlag but it's all good.Awww pele Food is one of the reason I want to to back to Nigeria. I will chop tire! ![]() |
Legit1: There I was thinking you would change historyI wish! |
Legit1There are several types of mental disorders: personality disorder, schizophrenia, bipolar, depression, eating disorders, anxiety etc. How many old people in Nigeria have been diagnosed from suffering from dementia? I'm guessing none or very few. If more mental health practitioners in Nigeria are aware of the proper diagnostic procedures (such as the DSM criteria), there will be less chance of people in Nigeria with mental illness not getting the proper treatment they require. Treatment for depression is different to the one given to someone who is schizophrenic. Instead of sending some them to the herbalists, to church, or even left without help, they can be diagnosed properly and given the proper treatment method. But a problem with Nigeria is that money isn't getting directed to where it's needed. I blame your government. Tut tut! |
Legit1: Wetin be spiritual madness?I don't think you read my posts properly before replying back. Please do try and read it again, because I don't like repeating myself. ![]() I'm still going through my training, and western cultures don't recognise spiritual madness like African people do. "Some people in Africa are mad beyond medical help" (My dad, 2012) ![]() |
ItsModella: @D-Ex sweeryI thought you were ignoring us! ![]() How is it going? Please bring me ewa agoyin!! |
Legit1: Never said anything about profits.I did. Read my post again, you might have missed the other things I've added to it. My contribution is not set in stones. I would like to. Even if it's in a public psychiatric hospital or just offering therapeutic sessions to those who need it. I just need to go first to get an idea of what they provide to patients since there is little information available on google about Nigeria's psychiatric wards that can help me with my research. |
ayobase: What are we celebrating?Ask him nau ![]() |
Legit1: Forgive me,I couldn't resist quoting this post. What the fück? Patient-focused as in directing the care based on the needs of patients and not how much profit or money they can earn from them. If the mad ones on the street (exclude the spiritual madness o ) are attended to before their health deteriorate, then they won't be dancing around nâked. I'm not saying I'm going to change everything in a day, but my plan is to give them ideas (maybe train them) as to how they can go about making those changes. Rome wasn't built in one day. Hahaha that last paragraph is funny as fück. ![]() |
Sexkillz congrats! ![]() |
Redmosquito: Amadioha where u dey? I want you to fry something for me!It's abiL, not amadioha! ![]() & I'm not your cook! ![]() ![]() |
Redmosquito: SeriouslyNo -___- ![]() |
Goldieluks:Thank you ![]() I don't know how Nigerians deal with mental health problems, but I want to try and introduce the holistic approach into their treatment programmes. Get it to be more patient-focused, and to make it easier for people to assess therapeutic programmes. I'm burning with ideas, just don't know who to speak to about it in Nigeria LOL. My mum has links in Aro hospital, so my plan is to start from there. Don't know how far that will get me ![]() |
Goldieluks: Abilare you a psychiatric doctor or a nurse?None. Im a Psychologist. |
Redmosquito: Woman yansh! Go to any african shop and say u wanna buy woman yansh, they will give u straight? ![]() |

Redmosquito:Evil!!! ![]() |
Shollypopz: LMAO!!Nah if I go in feb/ march, it will be to test the water to see if I can adjust to life in Nigeria. Hahahha Don't even laugh. My plan is to see my GP two weeks before departure, and to exaggerate how anxious I get during flights so he can prescribe me the medication. Vodka is an easy thing to get, I only need to show my ID for that lol ![]() |
Yeye girl. Na 't' dey make you angry?
Yes o. Since you're too quick to correct my Yoruba. ![]() ![]() |
Shollypopz: Might go with my younger sister, she's been planning to volunteer in an hospital in Nigeria to boost her resume. You know the way med school love those that show a passion for the career and the whole Africa thingyI've just got a lot of ideas that I want to try and implement in the way people with mental illness are attended to in Nigeria. It will be a direct flight (6 hours, like you've said). Anything more than 2, 3 hours the most kills me. My plan is to use a lot of diazepam and have a couple of vodka shots to settle the nerves. |
Ok you try on this one. No your fault though
![]() |
