NiklauseFred:You must sabi the book by force ![]() Seriously,my husband is in the academics and there is no day he does not lament about the educational sector in Nigeria. The ease of study and access to materials is top notch.. There is a reciprocal scheme called SCONUL. The scheme covers most of the university libraries in the UK. It allows many university library users to borrow or use books and journals at other libraries which belong to the scheme. So a student of Heriot-Watt can borrow or use books from the library of University of Manchester and vice versa.. |
Sights around.. Bust stop in the picture
|
NiklauseFred:Yes it is. Still in use. You see them scattered in the city |
So Heriot-Watt was named after 2 Scottish Men.. An inventor James Watt and a philanthropist and goldsmith George Heriot. I am sure there is a statue of George Heriot somewhere in the school too

In April 2020, Captain Sir Tom Moore wanted to raise £1,000 for charity by his 100th birthday by doing laps in his yard with his walker. His story inspired so many people that he ended up raising over £32 million for the NHS. He received over 150,000 birthday cards from all over the world. In July, he was knighted by the Queen. Sadly, he has just passed away with Covid-19. May his soul rest in peace.

@Igbamatigbi, what's up? Seen and replied Ur mail.. |
tushqueen:Lol.. Depending on your taste and how long you'll be in the country, you can rent an unfurnished house. It won't cost an arm and a leg. There are plenty charity furniture shops, eg British Heart Foundation where you can get furniture for cheap prices. Earlier in the thread in Coventry I posted one called Love Coventry, you can get a reasonable sized fridge/freezer for £50. Tables, chairs, chest of drawers for less than £30 etc. Also there is gumtree and even Facebook market place where people sell unwanted stuff for giveaway price and some even give out free provided you can go and pick it up. Lastly, if you are working and you want tear rubber stuff, you have the option of getting the shop's 'pay small small' scheme ( I am considering this for the new Samsung S21 5G, I cannot come and kill myself jor) ![]() Decent living |
I remember in Coventry, someone asked me how much I get paid as a carer, hours I work etc.. I am not looking for work yet but when I do get one, I'm thinking if I should put it out here so people can see how it is over here and probably learn a thing or two. Already DH has a 3day training for a job from tomoro. Bills has to be paid ![]() Let me know what you think cus I'm still thinking.. |
After much reading about Monzo and other digital banks, I decided to open an account with them and got my card delivered to me.. Sweeeeet Now na to find money put inside remain.
|
Shebi I said we couldn't open the freezer part of the fridge hence the need for the new one.. Strange thing happened, while struggling to move it so has to place the new one, the door of the freezer opened o.. ![]() lo and behold there was nothing wrong with the freezer just that ice had glued the door shut. Oga landlord don buy new fridge/freezer, na who go tell am ![]()
|
We complain to our landlord about our fridge. We couldn't open the freezer compartment so it affected how we preserve food and the quantity we can buy. Also, if we are to have other occupants in the house, the fridge/freezer will be too small for us. Yesterday, our new fridge/freezer (that's how it's call here) was delivered by 2 men. The men just dropped it and told us to connect after about 3 hrs... First pic, old fridge Now I can shop with easeeeee
|
tushqueen:I just observed that about biscuits, sweets Lidl is more of fresh food, food generally and few household, at least the one around us. One below did not have fresh food |
tushqueen:Yes. I remember when we use to sing it in secondary school from one book called "Sing through the Ages" ![]() |
on our journey home, we had 1 more passenger unlike our onward journey. Likewise empty Edinburgh bus station Isn't this currency beautiful? Well defined hologram
