Hello,

Thanks to everyone providing valuable information on this thread. It’s been helpful.

I was recently awarded a German Government Scholarship. I would like to if I can apply for my visa in UK where I currently reside with my family or it’ll have to be in my home country.

Thanks.

Hello Everyone,

Thanks to everyone that have been keeping this thread alive with valuable information. I’ve found the thread helpful so far.

I recently travelled out of UK (last week) to Nigeria to attend to something personal. I intend to travel back to UK next month and return in June (will book a return ticket) but my passport will expire in August 23, 2023.

Note: I still have a valid visa till next year January.

I would like to ask if I can travel to UK with my Nigerian passport which will expire in August 2023.

Thanks for the update on this group.

On my NiN my First Name and Middle name are correct but they are were used interchangeably.

On NIN, my first name was my middle name and on my passport my first name.

Will it affect the processing of the passport as I really need it?

Thanks

every application needs to be treated wholesomely .. you should have submitted the same employment documents this time around too.. so that u dnt keep giving them leeways to deny her

Thanks Giselle.

I’m thinking of applying for her again. But I’m afraid the 3 refusal might have a lot of effect on the new application even if we’re able to provide everything needs this time. Or it doesn’t matter?

Thegamingorca:

She needs to work on her finance.

Saying she gets 900k income from family is a red flag. She needs show that 900k or the monthly equivalent of the money from a company bank account being paid into her savings account on a monthly basis.

It will also help to indicate in the transaction I'd that it is monthly fund from whatever side hustle it may be

Thanks so much for your comment.

I would definitely take time to apply this time so the account can be regulated to show the savings and salary.

However, can one use a 3 month bank statement for her in this case?

@abiwealth seems her employment documents were not submitted… sorry please

We submitted it in the last application but the account statement was noted as the issue there.

I want to ask, how many months account can one submit if you have someone sponsoring all your trip?

Dear all,

Just found this group last night after combing the internet for resources to help me.

My mum’s visit visa was rejected for the third time yesterday. I have attached the refusal screenshot.

She’s a civil servant with a salary of 101k but the amount payable monthly after all deductions (pension, taxes and car loan) is 38k. She also has a side business that bring funds. We stated all this in the cover letter. The trip is to be sponsored by my elder brother who reside in Scotland.

We attached car doc, house doc, letter of leave approval from her ministry. I attached my wife’s MAT B1 and our current rental agreement. We also included the picture of her business and other relevant doc.

She was first refused in November 2022. We applied again in February using priority, but she was refused due to mistake we made in the amount she’s to spent in UK.

However, when we got the mail yesterday, it was refusal. She was also refused. Now I am confused

What’s the chances of her getting it again if we apply as she hasn’t visited any other countries before. We want her to help with the childbirth and all but seem time is running out now.

Education / Re: Death Of Corp Members And The Nigeria Education System: A Cause For Alarm by AbiWealth(m): 11:11am On Dec 04, 2016
Yes bro, many seems to have loss hope in the system. The executives and legislatives and judiciary are not helping matters at all, rule of law does not exist thereby leaving the masses at the receiving end.
Education / Death Of Corp Members And The Nigeria Education System: A Cause For Alarm by AbiWealth(m): 3:56pm On Dec 03, 2016

Many a times I wonder what Nigerian Students would have done to deserve bad treatment in the hands of the government (both Federal and State), Lecturers, and some individuals in the university system. Over time, Nigerian students who have not only being victim to bad and decandent education system that was inherited as a result of bad system of government, students in numbers continue to lose breathe in the same process.

The news of the dead coppers in Kano and Zamfara struck my inner core, and my heart grow sore anytime I remember the agony and pain their parents and friends are thrown into as a result of their demise. It is sardonic that the Nigeria government never listen to plight of the masses but rather derive joy in adding the injury of the common man who find it hard to come by his daily bread. Hospitals are not well equiped, salaries are yet to be paid, education is now quantitative rather than been qualitative, roads are now death trap while the Senetors who sleep our hallowed chambers also smile home with jumbo salaries and allowances at the expense of the masses the people they are representing. What we call universities these days are nothing but glorified slums, with blighted hall of residence, dilapidated and congested lecture halls, ill-equipped laboratories, lack of access to safe water supplies, poor sanitary and sewage conditions, poor toilet facilities, bedbug-infested hostels, over crowded class rooms and so on. I wonder if our politician are never ashamed of parading thier pot belly stomach and disgraceful faces around all in the name of the representing the people when no Nigerian university can even feature in first 700 in the world and first 15 in Africa.

The political class has failed us yet we run around to campaign for them when election comes, I think it high the youth got it and make wise and clever decisions. They have no value for public schools because their children don’t attend such schools, this is evident when the Oyo State government introduced fees to public primary and secondary schools in the stae, while Osun state government have also joined in the commercialization of the public education. Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso have been on a protracted strike for over six month now and yet the two strong headed state governors have not devise a means to solve this problem. The future of over 10,000 students have been mortgaged by the criminially liable leadership of two governors who claimed to be progressive thereby making me to wonder what fit them rather than "Retrogressives". Futures of scores of people are been hold to ransome by this failure that parade our political landscape while days and months have gone by without hearing a good result on this issue, their children enjoy themselves in Ivy League Universities. Maybe ASUU should stop been hypocritical and fight justly and not for their own pocket.

The death of miss Oladepo Ifedolapo continue to trouble my heart as the news seems to be everywhere on social media. The NYSC officials in the camp should be dealt with and used as a scape goat for others who engaged in this draconic act, what is even the essence of scheme when youths die every year during their course of service because of the inhumane and wicked act of the officials. There are have been many cases of students in many universities in the country where students die because of the lackadaisical attitude of the health workers and the management. This must stop and drastic actions must be taken by relevant stakeholders and students through agitation, the sleeping pensioners who parade themselves as student leaders in National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) should stop runnning after politicians for money and protect the interest of Nigerian students and save our Education system from final collapse.

Education / OAU Students Show Displeasure Over SLAN Release, Call Them Anti-students by AbiWealth(m): 6:37pm On Apr 10, 2016
On Friday 11th of April a news release by a group called Student Leaders Alliance of Nigeria (SLAN) went viral on national dailies and websites. The group which is said to consist of former student leaders of the institution showered praise on the vice chancellor, Prof. Bamitale Omole, who they claimed is the best VC the school has gotten and should be celebrated.

The group through their release passed a vote of confidence on the VC. However, students of the citadel of learning have been divided over the release. Some students have come out to criticize the VC. Some of the students has described the VC's tenure as an unforgettable one full of ups and down.

A popular critic and student activist Emman O Emman described the VCs tenure as a disaster and he should bury his head in shame. He further noted that it is a sheer stupidity to congratulate the VC for what he has done during his administration.

Some students also termed the group which claim to parade themselves as pro-students "Paid Agents" who does not have the interest of the masses at heart. Many students who saw this release online reminded them of the fee hike, poor welfare conditions and series of mid semester breaks. A student on one of the popular WhatsApp groups of OAU pointed out that other union body on campus like NASU and SSANU had embarked on strike at different times due to the inability of the management to meet their demands.

Politics / The Rot In The Education Sector And The Ignominious State Of Our Universities by AbiWealth(m): 4:30pm On Sep 16, 2015
By DURODOLA Abiola Nurudeen

Education is a human right with immense power to transform. On its foundation rest the cornerstones of freedom, democracy and sustainable human development, this is the words of  Kofi Annan the former secretary general of United Nations. Also many scholars believe that the development of a nation depends on how well it has developed it's education sector.  According to Nelson Mandela
"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."

It is derisive that Nigeria Education sector continue to wallop in the inglorious days it has found itself in recent years, the sector is fraught with a plethora of problems ranging from neglect by the government admission racketeering, poor hostel facilities, poor state of educational facilities, and unconducive environment for learning. Public schools most especially tertiary institutions have been bastardized as a result of the rot in the sector which has deprived the children of the poor/masses who constitute the majority of public school students qualitative and sound education. The insect which has find it way into the deep root of our education sector has paved way for private institutions which is only affordable by the Otedolas or the rocker fellers in the society. The toffs who our education is in their hand have taken education away within the reach of the already improvised poor and make the children of the rich to enjoy the sweetness of the land. Students that are produced as a result of the bad system are not up to standard and cannot compete with their mates from other countries through out the world.

In recent years, tertiary institutions all over the country continue to increase their school fees without any result or improvement in these schools. Students now attend classes in a lecture theatre that is over crowded, practical activities has reduced due to unavailability of practical instrument, poor state of our lecture theatres and other educational facilities.  It is plaintive that most of our educational institutions are now in poor state compare to what it used to be during the days of our founding fathers. Pejoration in standard of education has also take us backward as no Nigeria university can be found among top 1000 universities in the world. This make our country to be lampoon by scholars and also students from other countries.

Unfortunately, new universities are been established by the federal government without any improvement on the facilities of the existing universities. The addition of universities only contribute to decline in the education problem that is been faced by students who are at the receiving end. Half baked students is what they call our university graduate now. Engineering students now graduate without adequate or no practical experience due to unavailability of materials, our laboratories are now in a 'sorry State', we're now in those days where students buy one by one the instrument they need into a laboratory. The present condition of some hostel is dishearten, most of our hostels are now like 'Poultry', students now live in a condition where there's no light, no water, no improvement in the facilities, costs of living has increase and the masses that can't buy their way into the university are now been deprived their privileged of a qualitative education.

Over years this facilities continue to deteriorate drastically, lectures continue to take place in spaces never intended as class rooms, such as laboratories, sport centres, drawing studio, workshop, open field etc. This affect students negatively and also contribute to academic performance. Toilets are not functioning effectively, existing edifice continue to suffer due to inadequate maintenance, paints peeling from wall, crumbling plasters and sits inside the lecture hall are no where to be found.

The federal and state government must realized that our tertiary institutions need reformation, students still use equipments which cannot even go in line with present day technology, instruments used are outdated, no wonder UNESCO assessed Nigeria education sector over the last 15 years and assertively stated in its outcome of the assessment that, Nigeria education system is one of worst education systems in the world. I vehemently concur to this because as a student I can see the education sector is close to collapse.

At this stage and position we find ourselves, it is expected of the government to take it up as an important task so as to tackle the bane in the education sector. The government should improve in increasing the money proposed for education which fell short of UNESCO's 26% recommendation. It is dishearten when people we voted into power do not show any interest in solving or removing this canker worm that has taken it toll in the sector, like in the case of the former Abia state governor who claim education which is a tool of national development is a 'Money Gruzzler' and they all spend extravagantly on irrelevant and anti-masses projects. It was also revealed that last year by former CBN governor and Emir of kano Lamido Sanusi that our lawmakers gulp 25% of the country's total budget and 10.7% of the 4.6 trillion national budget of year 2014 was allocated to education sector. It is high time we all shift attention to improving public education in a country where all of us can't afford prohibitive fee been charged by private universities, or travel abroad to Oxford, or MIT for qualitative education.
