That's the reason, I brought the issue up. The previa is tokunbo and engine seems to be at its best. I mean clean and relatively unused. Are you saying, 5w30 is a better option? Am yet to change the oil that came with it though. Mind u, this vehicle has gone to Abuja twice and the change oil light is ON, on the cluster. nakoks: |

@GAZZUZ, an advert has been made here which is 10w40. Will be okay for the vehicle or 20w50 as you've recommended will be fine? Your advice is required. Thanks |
Ok GAZZUZ, do you mean I should ignore the 10w30 that's Writen on the engine cap. And that 20w50 will be a better option because of the age. It's a toyota previa 94, manual. Will change the oil ptobably this weekend as the change oil light is ON on the cluster. Thanks |
Thanks Gazzuz. Year of production is 94. |
Hello house, just got a toyota previa. Am abou to give it, it's first service/oil change. I check the cap and it read SAE 10W-30. Can I get the oil grade here and which of the oil brands has it. Note: Gazzuz, Sienna etal, please I need your expert advice. Thanks |
@Autojoshng thanks, will find out from the mechanic if the new hub we got came with a bearing or whether he used the previous bearing on the new hub. That will lead us somewhere. Will get back to you as soon as I find out. |
Thanks Sienna, will check the wheel bearing out. However, let me ask this question. Is the wheel bearing attached to the hub. Remember I've changed the hub and the noise still persist. Or where is the wheel bearing situated? |
Thanks AutojoshNG, will look at the three possible causes you've highlighted. The tires are relatively new andi just did alignment about 3weeks ago. I will look at swapping the tires and then do another alignment and balancing. I gauged the gear oil 3days ago and the it's okay. If it's due to bearing wear, does that mean that the transmission is going bad? Am sorry about the double post, it's due to network error. I must have reposted again when the first one I posted brought an error reply. Will look at those 3 areas and then get back to the house. Thanks |
Hello guys, please there's a howling sound coming from the hood/front side of my Honda shuttle. I have changed the hub, but sound still persist. It becomes very noisy from 60kph upwards. It reduces as the speed comes down and also increases as the speed increases and it becomes very noisy between 80-100kph. What could be the cause of this noise as I have change the hub. Guys please let's solve this. Sienna, Gazzuz, et al... |

that's my observation too with many mitsubishi that I've come across. though they have good build and highly fuel efficient, but their drawbacks is that, their engines are not built to stand the test of time. it smokes easily and I think it has to do with their engines. mitsubishi really need to work on their engines. for now, it's a No No for me. |

The year of a vehicle does not really matter. What matters most is how it was maintained. A car is as good as new if it is very well maintained. Although, Nigerian factor may include because of our bad roads and poor maintenance culture. But, you still have some people who take absolute care of their vehicles. From latest tires, to recommended oil change and OEM parts. What about classic cars that were produced 20-30years back and are still as good as new. It's choice anyway. My opinion is that, you don't choose a car. You put certain things into consideration like your work schedule, your area and if you will doing inter-state trips also. You have to look at your environment to pick a car and don't pick a car and then the environment deals with it. |
It's not all about speeding or over-speeding. It's about confidence, being attentive and maintaining a steady speed. Like I said earlier, op was agitated, curious, and got distracted by other cars. 80-100mph is a good spead at any time. With that speed, you can easily and quickly respond to any urgent pop-ups, or powering down to dodge a pot hole and mostly importantly have a idea of how the engine is performing. Travelling isn't about race, but about getting to your destination. Op forgot about this because he was agitated. The capacity of the engine does not matter, but how you handle and drive it, is what matters. With 80-100mph and occasional 120mph will get you to your destination even if you arrive an hour late late after those flying hummer buses. I challenge you, if you're a Nigerian, get that vehicle fixed and drive it back to lagos yourself. You stand to gain a lot of experience from that. Atleast, you won't be road jjc again. There's always a first time and you've had your own fair share. Fix it and drive it back to become a pro. |
Both cars are good in terms of durability, maintenance, fuel economy, and availability of parts. I don't know what offer you're getting for the two. But sincerely, the highlander is a more stronger SUV. It's ground clearance is good and it comes in both 4plugs and 6plugs. Which ever you get is good. It may lack some ancillary features that the accord may present but it's definitely a good option. It's very rugged, it's fuel economy is good, and again it's an SUV. |
