Thank God for small mercies , Finally Africa is thinking progressively.

Plus for those who dey yap Etisalat promo, I decided to investigate all of this stuff and someone is truly going to walk away with the $1Million.

When I asked the execs, all they said was 'we are too young in this market for games and it's all about integrity'.

Believe me, when this same Etisalat started hiring and giving staff heavy pay, no one talk for that time. Have you heard of any staff say that their salary has not been paid for one day?

So abeg, for those who wan become millionaire, go participate. I've sent in my entry. Actually woke up at 4am. Alarm blazing. Fingers crossed.

@ Pushkin: Did the winner emerge for the same day or a different day?

Hold your horses before you guys start calling anyone dumb or stupid!

Before they even brought GSM to Nigeria, didn't we all think it will never happen? And if they told you NEPA was going to give you light 24/7, won't you tell them to shut their traps? Then I guess that's why this promo is so unbelievable.

I decided to investigate all of this stuff that you guys are talking about and whoever does not believe this has every right to, but by the time someone walks away with the One Million Dollars and he's a friend of yours who's up north or down south, then all the Lagos people who are too educated to believe will scratch their heads and run to the next thing Etisalat has to offer.

From the information gathered from their website, in addition to the $1Million that's for take-away at the end, apparently, there's other cash prizes for about 70-something people to win up to N5Million each or something, plus the two phones every hour that I hear some guy has already picked up two of them.

Instead of us abusing these telcos and calling their execs stupid, foolish and crazy, I think we should all look at it from the perspective that at the end of the day, the competition will bring progress and growth for the industry.

Haba, when this same Etisalat started hiring and was doling out heavy salaries, did you complain? Have you heard of any staff say that their salary has not been paid for one day?

So abeg, let's stop complaining and give them credit. Me, I don participate, never win phone, but I go still dey try. After I don win, I go send you people One Thosand Dolls make you share! smiley Pere!

Politics / Re: Musa Yar'adua Is The New President Of Nigeria! by abrad(m): 6:01pm On Apr 23, 2007
I think Nigerians should at least try to be a bit objective about what the outcome of the elections are. There is a great certainty that most of us voted for Yar' adua because if the results were going to be manipulated it made sense to vote for he in who's favor it was going to be done. At least votes were not wasted, but the truth of the matter is, there seemed no other logical person to vote for when PDP already owned possession of almost 90% of the states of the country already. Apart from that with the state of Nigeria's affairs, Yar' adua seems a sensible candidate for the sake of continuity. Let's just keep praying that he would serve the country better than a lot of people expect him to.
Politics / Re: How To Stop 419? by abrad(m): 9:36am On Apr 23, 2007
Well, I went to the link recommended by one of the users and despite the fact we all compain, it's good to see that some people are already thinking positively. I must be honest in saying that the 419 world is rather enticing when all you see around you is constant hardship and lack.
Unfortunately on the lower to middle level, the majority of people who are engaged in this are people who have either just graduated from secondary schools and trying to get into the university, or those who are presently in the university on their way out.
Psychologically, the main reason for getting into 419 is to be among the minority of people who are living the flamboyant lifestyle here in Nigeria or those that we see on TV. The economy has made it worse by provididng minimal ways of keeping these individuals busy.
I always believe that to solve a problem, there is the need to get to the root of it, if not you keep cutting off branches while the plant still survives. The root of this 419 situation is from the government itself. The government and leaders are filled with corruption and if they are getting away with it, then they have no right to tell me not to do same.
I know we all go on about the government, but the people themselves need to do something about it. Cafe owners should be more vigilant about what their access is used for, providing supervisors and secutrity personnel who would politely ask these people to leave the cafes, instead of wanting to make higher profits. If the cafes are probably better monitored and these people are ejected from every cafe they visit for engaging in unscrupulous activities, then I guess they would look for other means and while they do so, then the country can slowly clean up the mess they have created.
In all of this, an alternative for engaging these individuals should be thought of, either some sort of re-orientation or education, the learning of a trade, seminars on what other options they have and so on. If alternative measures are not put in place, then trying to stop them would be just a waste of time because they would become an even greater nuisance than if they had been left alone.
