PoliticsNIGERIANS IN SHOCK As Galadima Exposes Strategies That President Buhari Might Us by Abuchy1(op): 8:58pm On Feb 26, 2022
The Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) has on several occasions said that there is a need for the President to sign the Electoral Bill as this will help the electoral body prepare properly ahead of the 2023 general elections. However, President Buhari is yet to assent to the bill despite the corrections that have been made to it by the National Assembly, which had previously included compulsory direct primaries in electing leaders.

The President had asked that the clause be changed and options be given, which is why the National Assembly and House of Representatives agreed to have direct and indirect primaries and also included consensus.

Many Nigerians and political leaders have also expressed displeasure over the President’ s nonchalant attitude towards the bill, adding that the President has no reason to delay the signature. Some stakeholders also said that the President might again refuse to sign the bill for the sixth time.

An End To Anxiety As President Buhari Prepares To Sign The Electoral Bill

As a result of the President’ s slow response to the bill that has been forwarded to him since January 31st, a coalition of civil society organisations threatened to embark on a protest on Tuesday, which it did, and also gave the President an ultimatum on when to sign the bill, but the presidency asked that the CSO’ s cancel any other protest, which they promised that the bill would be signed on Friday. This was revealed to newsmen on Wednesday by an authoritative source in the presidency.

When the National Assembly sent the bill to the President last November, President Buhari gave his reasons for not signing it as the overwhelming cost of conducting direct primaries and security challenges. However, since the day the amended bill was sent back to the President, which is about 24 days ago, nothing has been heard from the President concerning the bill. However, the constitution gives him the grace of 30 days, whereby he is expected to either assent to the bill or withhold his assent, giving reasons for his decision.

According to Punch News, the Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, assured Nigerians that in a matter of hours, the electoral bill would be signed. The media aide conveyed this information during a feature on Channels Television’ s ” Sunrise Daily” programme on Tuesday. He was quoted to have said, ” It could be signed today; it could be signed tomorrow in a matter of hours, not days. Hours could be 24 hours. It could be 48 hours, but not days and not weeks.

Based on reports made available to Punch News on Wednesday by a source close to the office of the President, all arrangements have been finalised for the President to sign the bill into law on Friday, and this will put all the anxieties to rest.

CSO To Take Next Action After Friday

The coalition of 26 civil society organisations that staged a protest in Abuja on Tuesday, February 22nd, has however, refused to speak on the latest report that the President would sign the Electoral Amendment Bill on Friday. The group says it would only speak after it is convinced that the President would indeed assent to the bill. The coalition that declared February 22nd a national day of protest stated that the protest was to demand immediate assent to the amended bill by the President.

Punch News reports that, in reaction to Femi Adesina’ s words on the TV program, the Executive Director of Yiaga Africa, Samson Itodo, said, ” Let’ s wait and see. ” Je added that, since the news says that Buhari would assent to the bill on Friday, the coalition will wait to see if it is indeed true, but for now, there is no comment.

Another Bill Will Be Passed Secretly For Buhari— Galadima

Meanwhile, a member of the Board of Trustees of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a former ally of President Muhammadu Buhari, Buba Galadima, has expressed his distrust over the much- awaited assent to the amended bill. He noted that President Buhari’ s assent to the bill won’ t change a thing if he signs it with a reservation and not totally.

Galadima, a former National Secretary of the Congress for Progressive Change, during a feature on Channels Television’ s ” Politics Today” programme on Wednesday, stressed that signing the bill with reservations means he has not signed the electoral bill at all.

According to Punch News, Galadima stated that, it is suprising that President Buhari was contemplating making changes to the views of Nigerians which was presented by their representatives in the national assembly. He went on to say that if the media and civil society organisations had not pressured him, Buhari was not planning to sign the bill.

Galadima was quoted to have said, ” They are doing a kind of 419; he will sign the bill and send a list of things he doesn’ t like, which will secretly be passed for him. ” There will be no change, even if he signs, because what he gives us with the right hand, he will take from us with the left. ” He added that the President would make it look like he had signed the amended 2010 Electoral Act Bill, when in fact, he had taken the gains the people had made into the bill.

PoliticsAkeredolu: Amotekun Not In Rivalry With Other Security Agencies by Abuchy1(op): 7:10am On Feb 25, 2022
Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu stated on Thursday that the creation of the State Security Network, Amotekun Corps, benefited the state and other key security organisations.

Akeredolu, who stated that Amotekun was not established to compete with other security agencies, advocated for collaboration and synergy among sister agencies and the state security agency.

The governor spoke in his office while meeting Dayo Oni, the state’s new Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).

He stated that the Amotekun corps could be of great service to the NIS, and that the state security agency was familiar with the topography in the state and could give support on security matters throughout the Sunshine State.

“We know your duties and responsibilities as immigration service. We do appreciate what you do. I know that before you came here, as you rightly noted, we have always assisted your previous colleagues.

“Amotekun is a child of necessity and it has come to stay and the state is better for it. Work with Amotekun. It is not created to rival you. Work with them. Amotekun can help you,” Akeredolu said.

The NIS boss, Oni, commended the approach of the governor to tackling security challenges in the state, stressing that the formation of Amotekun was one great intervention that had received applause from everywhere.

“I want to appreciate you for what you have been doing for the NIS. I am new but the record is there. But like Oliver Twist, I will still ask for more, especially in the area of operational vehicles.

“I want to really commend the governor for his approach on crime, particularly on the formation of Amotekun,” Oni said.

Romance“my Best Friend Is Getting Married To My Boyfriend”- Lady Cries by Abuchy1(op): 3:39pm On Feb 24, 2022
Worse yet, the man has moved in with and married another woman he met only a year ago.

On Twitter, the lady stated that she had mistakenly believed he had a good future with the gentleman.

“I am truly broken,” she says. My boyfriend met someone last year and married her back in Kzn, which I found out.

I was thinking to myself that we were building a future together while he was building a future with someone else. I’m too embarrassed to even share the rest of his thorough explanation.

I wish I could post screenshots of this predicament, but I already feel stupid.

When others on social media began inquiring what she did to deserve his decision, Thembs, who goes by the handle @uThembs_, responded:

“Let’s just pretend I was impolite, okay?” Is it respectful to do all of this without discussing it with your partner? Or does respect just apply when a man is receiving it?”

I AM REALLY BROKEN.I FOUND OUT THAT MY BOYFRIEND MET SOMEONE LAST YEAR AND MADE HER A WIFE BACK AT HIS HOME IN KZN. THERE I WAS THINKING WE BUILDING A FUTURE TOGETHER WHILE HE WAS BUILDING A FUTURE WITH SOMEONE ELSE.
