The Power of Dividend Growth In Equity Investment Before now many investors had always thought of dividend-paying stocks as boring, offering a low return on investment when compared to high flying penny stocks, whose volatility can be pretty exciting, while those who know how to successfully ride on them make a kill. However, dividend-paying companies are usually more matured and predictable, a situation that some may consider dull. However, the combination of a consistent dividend and a rising stock price can offer earnings that are potentially powerful enough to be excited about. Things to know with regards to dividend growth would include a high dividend yield; just as understanding how to estimate dividend-paying companies can give some insights into how payout can boost returns on investment, especially if such income is reinvested. A common perception is that a high dividend yield indicates that the dividend paid is a fairly high proportion of the return on the stock price and the most important measure. However, a yield that is considerably higher than that of other stocks in an industry may indicate that it is not a good dividend, but one depressed and equal to annual dividends per share divided by share price. The price decline, in turn, may result in a dividend cut, or worse still, no payout at all. The important indication of dividend power is not much about a high Dividend Yield, but the quality of a company’s numbers and growth that is discernible through its payment history. Expectations are that a company’s dividend payment should grow over time, based on the improvements in its earnings. If you are a long term investor, looking out for such companies can be very rewarding. Dividend payout ratio: This is the proportion of a company’s earnings allocated to paying dividends, which further demonstrates that the source of dividends- the company’s net profit aligns with its growth. Therefore, if a company keeps dividend payout ratio constant at, say 5%, and the company revenue and profit continue to grow, that 5% begins to represent a larger amount in absolute terms. For instance, 5% of N30 earnings per share, or N1.50, is higher than 5% of N15 earnings power which is 75 kobo. We can demonstrate this with an example. Let’s say you invested a total of N1,000 in AXY Company, buying 10 shares each at N100 per unit, and it is a well-managed business with a price-to-earnings ratio of 10, and dividend payout of 10%. It translates to a dividend of N1.00 per share, which is decent, even as it is nothing to celebrate, as it represents a miserly 1% of your investment as a dividend. However, because AXY Company is well managed, the company expands steadily and after some years the share price grew to N200 each. Even if the payout ratio remains constant at 10% over the period, just as the price-to-earnings ratio, dividend per share grows to 10% of N20 or N2 each, as a result of the increased earnings, even while payout remains unchanged. Since you purchased the shares at N100 per share, your effective Dividend Yield is now 2%, as against the initial 1%. For years, many investors have been using this dividend-focused strategy by buying shares of blue-chips companies. In the above example, we showed how lucrative a static dividend payout can be; imagine the earning power of the company grows so much as to increase its payout. In all of these scenarios, a company’s dividend policy plays an important role, because the portion of its earnings that are paid to shareholders is pre-determined and also guides the dividend equalization, where a company wants to maintain a steady payout, whether in bad or good times. During lean times, it is usual for company boards to go into their reserves or retained earnings to make up for shortfalls, so as to reward shareholders. The company’s reserves serve as a buffer between a certain dividend level and profit. The excess funds are transferred and stored in a reserve account in good years, to be withdrawn in bad years for the company to sustain its dividend payout standard. Another reason why companies maintain reserves or retained earnings is such that the management can be utilized such for expansion or to fund operations, rather than resorting to bank borrowing. As the New Year kicks off with an uptrend market, smart traders and discerning investors should prepare for the earnings season, and the associated tendency of dividend-paying stocks to perform above average in the first quarter of the year. To profit from the potential gains of the earnings reporting season therefore, you as an investor or trader should consider positioning in value stocks with a strong possibility of payout growth, irrespective of the current prices. What to know when investing in stock market It is true that for successful investment while growing your wealth in any market, an investor must understand the bigger picture of the economy and stock market dynamics. Today’s wealthy men who made fortunes from equity investments are those that recognize the long-term nature of the stock market and know the appropriate keys with which to play the game profitably. The big picture gives an idea as to how all the facets of the economy work together to influence share prices of quoted companies. A booming economy will have a strong and promising stock market which is the leading indicator that reveals the country’s economic prosperity. An economy consists of the socio-political and economic environments that influence business activities and in turn, drive a nation’s growth and development. Every economy is sub-divided into the market, sectors, industries and then companies. It also has economic cycles that go from boom to gloom. The boom stages are the early, middle and late expansion periods; while the gloomy stages can come in the form of early and late periods of contraction. To be a successful investor, one must identify the stage an economy is, and which sector, industry, and the company can do well in any of these stages by remaining in business and posting good earnings capable of supporting future dividend payout. One, therefore, has to look at the nature of a particular company’s products and services and try to determine whether demand for them is inelastic in nature such that a price increase will not have much effect on the demand for them. One question that would arise is whether the company has a clear and simple business model that is easily understood? And also, whether it is has a good management team, as well as a succession plan in place? Other factors for identifying quality companies are consistent earnings growth, a profit margin that is above 10%, low debt, improved cash flow, and a good dividend payout ratio. This suggests that planning one’s financial freedom through equity investment is very possible if you buy the right stocks as you plan for your retirement. The 10 Golden stocks selected at our Invest 2020 Traders and Investors Summit have, so far, shown strength in their earnings power on a quarterly/yearly basis, recording consistent growth in dividend payout. Also, the nature of their products or services and business models support future performance. In picking any stock into your portfolio, ensure it shows qualities that are consistent with the factors mentioned above. Also, select profitable and defensive stocks that meet your investment goals, because your objective helps you to plan your trading, and or investment. For your retirement stocks pick, trading and investing for the long-term, sign up for Investdata buy and sell signal setup by calling 08028164085 When to buy and when to sell using Technical Analysis To make real money in the stock market you don’t need to know why a stock price rises or falls, you just need to know two things: When to buy and when to sell. If you can quantitatively measure the buying and selling pressure of stock, then you will know in advance whether the price of a stock is likely to go up or down. And you will then know if you should take a ‘buy,’ or ‘sell’ position. In other words, if you take a reading of the buying and selling pressure for a stock, you can successfully assess whether the price is likely to go up or down. There are numerous ways to measure the buying and selling pressure of a stock. We want to teach you several methods. That way you can use all of them, or just work with the methods most comfortable for you. Remember, comfort and ease are what Investdata aims for and which our Buy and Sell Signal Setup offer subscribers The best way to measure buying and selling pressure is to track the daily price movement of a stock. If the movement is increasing, then the buying is exceeding selling pressure and the stock is signaling ‘BUY’. On the contrary, should the daily price be on the decline, then the selling is exceeding buying pressure and the stock is said to be displaying a ‘SELL’ signal. TIME WILL TELL In a move that resembles that of Mr. Magic, the CBN crashed interest rate on bank deposits to the low single-digit level. A 50million naira 30 days fixed deposit for example now attracts only a maximum of 4 percent as against an average of 10 percent as of November last year. To achieve this fete, the CBN simply tinkered with the loan to deposit ratio for banks by moving it up. It also restricted some active players from participating in the debt market (treasury bills and bonds). As a result, the last treasury bill auction by CBN attracted only 5.1% as against an average of 13% last year. Advantages: -Lower deposit rates should usher in lower lending rates from banks to manufacturers etc, which is the primary desire of the government. -The stock market which has been in the doldrums for upwards of three years has witnessed a positive resurgence due to the inverse relationship that exists between low-interest rate and capital market. When the interest rates on deposits become unattractive, investors are then willing to take on the extra risk of putting money in the stock market for better yield. Disadvantages: -There is significant value erosion in putting money in the banks since the interest rate offered currently is less than the inflation rate which stands at about 12%. - The exchange rate may come under pressure as a result of investors moving there deposited funds out of banks to buy FX. -Foreign portfolio investment (FPI), especially in our debt market, will decrease because foreign investors will find low-interest rates unattractive for arbitrage. This will consequently decrease FX inflows into the economy. - The bank's profit earnings in 2020 may take a significant haircut because of lower margins and depositors fleeing to other investment destinations. Take Away: -There is a positive confluence of opinion on CBN’s move at this time stemming from the general outcry by manufacturers and others whose businesses have been stifled by high-interest rates. -The CBN will continue to hope that crude oil prices remain stable or higher, else, defending the currency may become a challenge. Finally, by playing around with the macroeconomic variables, the CBN seems to have succeeded for now in lowering the interest rate. If sustained, this can have a positive impact on the GDP growth and also bring back life into the economic value chain. Time will tell........ https://investdataltd..com/2020/01/time-will-tell.html |

Mixed Session, Pullback On NGSE Amidst Profit-taking, As Investors Position For Earnings Season Market Update for January 16 Stocks, again rebounded on the Nigerian bourse at the end of Thursday’s trading, halting the two previous sessions of profit booking on renewed buying interest and positive sentiment for medium and high cap stocks. This came just as N400bn of Open Market Operation (OMO) investments matured on Wednesday, with a high probability that a sizeable chunk of these funds could flow into the equities market. Recall that not all of the funds can be reinvested in the OMO window given the recent restrictions announced by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), besides the continued decline in money market rates especially Treasury Bills, a situation that supports the ongoing capital wave in search of higher returns. It is known that not all financial market investment windows can be bearish simultaneously. At the close of Tuesday’s trading session, the benchmark Nigerian Stock Exchange All-Share Index closed higher; despite the relatively low traded volume as equity prices have remained very mobile over the past weeks. This is driven by the hope of improved earnings, continued low-interest-rate regime and the low valuation that made equities assets attractive, considering the high Dividend Yield of the market. Meanwhile, Thursday’s trading was volatile and mixed, reversing the selling sentiment as the NSE opened slightly in the upside, a situation that lingered till mid-morning before rallying up in the midday to early afternoon and oscillated for the rest of the day to close positive. However, the NSE’s index touched an intraday high of 29,497.97 basis points from its low of 29,062.50bps, before closing the session higher at 29,352.13bps. The day’s market technicals were positive and mixed, with volume traded slightly higher than the previous session’s, in the midst of positive market breadth and improved demand for stocks, as revealed by Investdata’s Sentiment Report of 67%, buy position and 33% sell volume. The day’s total transaction volume index stood at 1.21, just as the momentum behind the day’s performance remained strong and even upward-looking as Money Flow Index read 78.67points, as against the previous 73.37ps. This is an indication that funds entered the market. Index and Market Caps At the end of Thursday’s trading, the composite NSEASI gained 289.68bps, closing at 29,352.13bps from the 29,082.50bps, representing a 1.00% up, just as market capitalization rose by N150bn, closing at N15.14 trillion from its opening value of N14.99 trillion, representing a 1.00% value gain. Attention: If you have not signed up for Investdata buy and sell signal setup, don’t delay. We have just added another risk management feature and new stocks of most revered traders and investors in corporate Nigeria to our watchlist. These stocks are with double potentials. To become a member, send ‘YES’ or ‘STOCKS’ to the phone numbers below. Take advantage of this service to buy right and sell right at the current market recovery ahead of full-year earnings reporting season portfolio reshuffling and repositioning as we await an economic reform policy to stimulate and re-track the economy again. The upturn recorded resulted from buying interests in Dangote Cement, MTN Nigeria, Zenith Bank, UBA, Guaranty Trust Bank, Dangote Sugar, Access Bank, Ecobank Transnational Incorporated, FBNH, and FCMB, among others. This impacted positively on the NSE’s Year-to-Date gain, increasing it to 9.27%. Market capitalization YTD rose to N2.23tr, representing a 16.70% growth over the year’s opening value. Mixed Sector Indices The sectoral performance indexes were largely bullish, except for the NSE Industrial Goods and Insurance Indexes that closed lower by 1.54% and 1.15% respectively, while the NSE Banking index led the advancers, gaining 2.19%, followed by Oil/Gas and Consumer Goods that rose 0.97% and 0.21% respectively. Market breadth turned positive with advancers outnumbering decliners in the ratio of 23:16, while market activities were up in volume and value traded by 7.52% and 77.01% respectively at 387.16m shares worth N5.12bn, from the previous day 380.08m units valued at N2.83bn. Volume was driven by trades in shares of Access Bank, Zenith Bank, Lafarge Africa, UBA and Morison Industry. The best-performing stocks were Livestock Feeds and Forte Oil, after gaining 10% and 8.42% respectively to close at N0.55 and N20.60 per share, on market forces and sentiments. On the flip side, BOC Gas and Caverton lost 10% and 9.97% respectively, closing at N4.95 and N2.62 on profit-taking. Market Outlook We expect the mixed performance to continue as the markets react to the December inflation report to be released by the National Bureau of Statistics on Friday morning, in the midst of positioning by investors taking advantage of the price correction. This is also ahead of next week’s first Monetary Policy Committee meeting of the year 2020, as well as the full-year earnings reports of companies. It is also against the backdrop of the prevailing low-interest rate regime in the money market. Also, investors and traders are positioning in anticipation of the 2019 full-year earnings reports, amidst changing sentiments in the hope of improved liquidity and positive economic indices which had pushed the market out of the bearish zone. We see Investors focusing on the upcoming full-year earnings season, targeting companies with strong potential to grow their dividend on the strength of their earnings capacity. Again, the current undervalued state of the market offers investors opportunities to position for the short, medium and long-term, which is why investors should target fundamentally sound, and dividend-paying stocks for possible capital appreciation in the New Year. This was noted in the 10 golden stocks and trading ideas for 2020, as discussed extensively during the Investdata 2020 Traders & Investors Summit held in Lagos last December. Access Bank Gets CBN Approval For Cameroon Subsidiary The management of Access Bank Plc, on Wednesday, said it has received the blessing of the Central Bank of Nigeria via a “no objection” to its proposed expansion into the Republic of Cameroon. In a notice to the Nigerian Stock Exchange, the bank, through Sunday Ekwochi, its company secretary, said the plan to set up a banking subsidiary in the country “is subject to the approvals of the regulatory authorities in the Republic of Cameroon.” The move, which is awaiting regulatory approvals, the statement continued, is sequel to the bank’s strategic objective to become Africa Gateway to the world. https://investdata.com.ng/2020/01/access-bank-gets-cbn-approval-for-cameroon-subsidiary/#more

Investors Focus On Full-Year Earnings, Target Juicier Dividend Growth Potentials Market Update for January 15 Stocks closed lower for the second day at the midweek on the Nigerian Stock Exchange as volatility and profit booking continued, despite the less-than-average traded volume traded during the session. This is yet another signal that market players are treading cautiously, besides an unwillingness to sell due to the seeming improved buying interest in the final minutes of the session. Since liquidity remains one of the major fundamentals that drive prices in equity markets, the further crash of Treasury Bill rate across all maturities remains a plus for the market, especially with the lowest bid rate for 364-day at 4%; while the 91 and 182-day instruments stop rate was 2.95% and 3.95% respectively. The decline in rates resulted from oversubscription due to the excess liquidity in the financial market, after more OMO investments matured on Wednesday and the funds could not be rolled over due to restrictions placed by the Central Bank of Nigeria. The bull-run on the equity market is expected to resume after this pullback or correction that is driven by short-term profit takers. Also, the NSE’s securities lending operation is likely to further improve market liquidity, just as the new Finance Act recently signed into law will boost returns in the stock market, given that there is no longer Withholding Tax on dividends. The improved economic activities witnessed in the last quarter of 2019 are likely to impact positively on full-year financials of companies which in turn may increase the payout of some listed companies, which will support the share prices going forward. Meanwhile, volatility and the mixed trend continued at the midweek as the NSE’s Index opened the session on the downside and oscillated between midday and afternoon on renewed demand for some stocks. This was after the composite All-Share index touched intraday low of 28,855.22 basis points to breakdown the 29,000 mark from its high of 29,094.14bps, before finishing the session lower at 29,082.50bps. Market technicals for the session were negative and weak, with volume traded lower than the previous session’s, as market breadth favoured the bears, amidst an improved ‘buy’ sentiments, as revealed by Investdata’s Sentiment Report of 87%, buy position and 13% sell volume. The day’s total transaction volume index stood at 1.14, just as the energy behind the day’s performance remained strong, although looking down as Money Flow Index read 73.37points, from the previous 78.43ps. This is an indication that funds left some stocks and the general market. Index and Market Caps The benchmark NSEASI, at the end of the session’s trading, lost 220.65bps, closing at 29,082.50bps from the 29,283.15bps, representing a 0.75% decline. Also, market capitalization fell by N113.82bn, closing at N14.99tr from its opening value of N15.11tr, representing a 0.75% value loss. The day’s decline was driven by profit-taking in stocks like MTN Nigeria, BUA Cement, Dangote Sugar, Access Bank, Ecobank Transnational Incorporated, International Brewery, Oando, and Wema Bank, among others. This impacted negatively on the NSE’s Year-to-Date gain, reducing it to 8.27%. Market capitalization YTD slipped to N2.03tr, representing a 15.70% growth over the year’s opening value. Bearish Sector Indices All the sectoral performance indexes closed lower, except for the NSE Insurance Index that gained 0.33%, while NSE Industrial Goods led the decliners after losing 1.30%, followed by Banking and Consumer Goods which lost 0.21% each. Market breadth was negative with decliners outpacing advancers in the ratio of 17:11, while market activities dropped in volume and value traded by 54.37% and 56.6% respectively to 380.08m worth N2.83bn shares, from the previous day 666.78m units valued at N6.52bn. The day’s volume was driven by trades in shares of Morison Industry, Access Bank, UBA, Zenith Bank and Transcorp Plc. Beta Glass and Cornerstone were the best-performing stocks as they chalked 10% and 9.45% respectively to close at N64.90 and N0.58 per share, on market forces and sentiments. On the flip side, Livestock Feeds and Sovereign Trust Insurance lost 9.09% each, closing at N0.50 and N0.20 on profit-taking. Market Outlook We expect mixed performance and profit-taking to persist, just as position-taking on pullbacks as investors take advantage of price correction, ahead of the release of Nigeria’s December inflation data, as well as next week’s first Monetary Policy Committee meeting for the year 2020, and full-year earnings reports of companies. This is also against the backdrop of the prevailing low-interest rate regime in the money market. Also, traders and investors need to change their strategies, because of the NSE’s pricing methodology, the CBN directives and their impact on the economy in the nearest future. https://investdata.com.ng/2020/01/investors-focus-on-full-year-earnings-target-juicier-dividend-growth-potentials/#more

Mixed Market, Profit Taking Ahead, Amidst Wait For December Inflation, Earnings Reports Market Update for the Week Ended January 10 and Outlook for Jan 13-17 It was yet another bull run on the Nigerian Stock Exchange in the first full trading week of the year 2020, with the composite All-Share index closing higher on strong demand for larger and small-cap stocks, following the positive sentiment for better and higher returns. The stock market’s average Dividend Yield stood at 6.18%, higher than money market rates, including the 364-day Treasury Bill rate of 5.2%, as well as the 7.14% annual return of Federal Government bonds, both of which are below daily capital gain in the stock market and inflation rates. This impressive year-to-date performance of the NSE ranks it among the world’s best performing exchanges in US Dollar terms. This year also, the NSE has seen the completion of the year’s first merger- between Cement Company of Northern Nigeria and Obu Cement, following which CCNN was delisted, which was replaced by BUA Cement Plc, on Thursday. During the week, also, the Federal Government announced the withdrawal of its case against MTN Nigeria over allegations of an unpaid backlog of taxes, in what may be the country’s way of assuring it is friendly to investment, as part of its Ease of Doing Business campaign. The 2019 full-year earnings reporting season kicks off next month, and as we have said coming into the year, all is set for positive earnings surprises. This expectation was triggered by the improved Purchasing Managers’ Index in the final quarter of 2019, which has been extended into the New Year, in view of stock valuations after the week ended positive on a recovery trend after closing negative for two consecutive years. The market is at 9.45x forward earnings (earnings expectations for the next 12-months), which means it is still cheap, in the face of declining yields in fixed income instruments and the low-interest rate regime in the money market. As we discussed previously, historically when rates come low, stock valuations tend to run north. In the final half of 2019, as we have written previously, rates remained low, and the Price/Earnings ratio of stocks indeed remained below 10 to end the year. If the market is, again, underestimating earnings, then the market is cheaper than it appears, at even 9.45x forward earnings. Movement Of NSEASI All through the period under review, the NSE’s performance index climbed up, beginning with its 1.39% gain on Monday as fund managers and others repositioned for the year and continued for the rest of the week, gaining 0.89%, 3.54%, 2.92% and 0.07% respectively. This bought the week’s total gain to 9.07%, as against just 2.09% in the preceding week that ushered in the bull ascendance. The benchmark index opened the period at 26,968.99 points and touched an intra-week high of 29,585.13 basis points, on improved buying interests in Industrial Goods, Financial Services and Consumer Goods, which had suffered huge losses before now. The index closed the week at 29,415.39bps on huge traded volume. Also, market capitalization rose significantly to close the week at N15.18tr, from its opening value of N13.02tr, representing 16.55% appreciation in value. This was due to the listing of 33.86bn shares of BUA Cement at N35, which boosted market cap by N1.38tr as it replaced CCNN. Large-cap stocks have for a long while continued to dominate the advancers’ log, with speculators and investors rushing to position ahead of positive economic and corporate numbers. This impacted the week’s rally, following which market breadth remained positive, as advancers outnumbered decliners in the ratio of 51:20. The energy behind the week’s performance was strong and up as revealed by the Money Flow Index reading at 64.61bps, from 56.13bps in the previous week. The increased volume of trade and classes of stocks that appreciated in value shows that accumulation is ongoing in expectation of better 2019 full-year earnings reports, with the hope of markup in dividend-paying stocks with high yields and strong earnings capacity. Also, Investdata Sentiment Report for the week revealed a strong buying pressure of 94% ‘buy’ volume and ‘sell’ position of 4%, on a transaction volume index of 1.97. NSEASI Weekly Time Frame NSE Index’s price action and trading sentiment for the week confirm a breakout of the bearish zone in the recovery state of the market. The breakout of three psychological marks of 27,000, 28,000 and 29,000 to test 29,585.13 point in just five trading sessions indicates a strong inflow into the market as all classes of market players, especially as the institutional and fund managers, position for the first quarter of 2020 being the peak earnings season of the market. Friday’s trading pattern revealed profit booking that slowed down the gaining momentum for the period as reflected in the weekly candlestick, while at the same time indicating that markup is still ongoing, as the index action is trying to recover lost grounds and many equities remain undervalued. The daily and weekly candlestick patterns reveal a mixed signal as the action has formed double tops on a daily chart that suggests profit-taking and pullback in the short-term, while weekly chart indicates more rooms for a rally, depending on market forces. On a daily and weekly time frame, MACD has remained bullish with the composite NSE index sustaining an up movement that signals continuation of the recovery mode as demand for stocks continues to look up in the midst of profit-taking. The NSE benchmark index on a weekly time frame is trading above its 50-Day Moving Average, while on a daily basis, it is trading above the 100-DMA last week on a high traded volume. The Relative Strength Index read 64.02, indicating relative strength. However, Money Flow is reading 63.42 points and looking up on the weekly chart which is an indication that funds are entering the market and individual stocks. Bullish Sectoral Indices All the sectorial performance indexes for the week were bullish, except for NSE Oil/Gas which was down by 0.02%, while the NSE Industrial Goods Index led the advancers, after gaining 22.27%; the NSE Banking index grabbed 8.36%; followed by the NSE Insurance and Consumer Goods indexes that were up by 2.05% and 0.82% respectively. Market activities in terms of volume and value for the week were up by 16.02% and 50.6% respectively, as investors exchanged 2.68bn shares worth N32.65bn, as against the previous week’s 2.31 billion units valued at N21.68bn. This volume was mainly driven by trades in financial services providers, especially in UBA that hit its new 52 weeks high within the period, Zenith Bank and Wapic Insurance. The best-performing stocks for the week were Dangote Cement and Presco, as they led the advancers’ chart, after gaining 21.13% and 19.79% respectively, closing at N172 and N56.90 per share on low price attraction and share buy-back programme, and the interplay of market forces. On the flip side, NCR and Union Dicon lost 10% and 9.88% respectively, closing at N4.05 and N10.95 on selloffs. Market Outlook We expect mixed performance as profit-taking is underway, in expectation of December inflation report and continued positioning for the New Year by institutional investors as more money market investments reach maturity. Expectations are that as a result, more liquidity may find its way to high dividend yield stocks with sound fundamentals, which will also be based on the seemingly positive outlook for the domestic economy, despite the mixed outlook for 2020 from different analysts. Discerning investors, nonetheless, should take advantage of the current low stocks valuation to position for medium to long-term. It is noteworthy that the market is selling at a discount and therefore offers high upside potential. We would, however, not overlook the possibility of a bargain-hunting motive supporting positive performance, especially with many fundamentally sound stocks remaining underpriced. With a dividend yield of major blue-chips continuing to look attractive in recent weeks, we expect speculative trading to shape the market’s direction, despite the seeming mixed outlook. Again, the current undervalued state of the market offers investors opportunities to position for the short, medium and long-term, which is why investors should target fundamentally sound and dividend-paying stocks for possible capital appreciation in the New Year. This was noted in the 10 golden stocks and trading ideas for 2020, as discussed extensively during the Investdata 2020 Opportunities & Trade Ideas Summit. Also, traders and investors need to change their strategies, because of the NSE’s pricing methodology, CBN directives and its impact on the economy in the nearest future. Meanwhile, the Investdata team welcomes you to a bullish 2020. Dangote Group Projects 650% Revenue Growth To $30bn By 2022 President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, says the turnover of his conglomerate could grow to $30bn in the next two years when its ongoing projects including the refinery, fertilizer, petrochemicals and other businesses are completed and running. This will translate to a 650% growth from the group’s current annual turnover of about $4bn. He has a crude oil refinery currently valued at $12bn oil refinery under construction. It would be the single largest in the world upon completion, with the capacity to meet more than Nigeria’s entire fuel consumption. Addressing newsmen last week, Dangote also lauded the Federal Government’s efforts in the agricultural sector, noting that the government’s focus on the sector will boost national GDP and less reliance on the oil sector for growth and development. According to: “We have massive arable land, we have water, we have the right climate, so the population growth does not really make me nervous… So, I think the government is doing very well by focusing more on the agricultural sector …we just have to tilt towards agriculture and manufacturing as against our oil-reliant economy.” He also praised the government’s determination to get more revenue from taxes, noting that the restructuring of the nation’s tax system will generate more revenue for the government. According to him “60% of the government revenue is coming from oil, but the government is doing quite a lot to diversify the economy by even trying to restructure the tax system because we need to make more money from taxes… because as it is now, the tax generation in Nigeria is a bit low but the government is on the right track with these innovations.” It would be recalled that 62-year-old Dangote was recently reported as being $4.3bn richer in 2019, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, ending the year with a net worth of almost $15bn. This ranked him the 96th wealthiest man in the world at the end of last year. Dangote holds a significant stake in Dangote Cement, Dangote Sugar, and Nascon Allied Industries, among many others. Dangote incorporated his own business selling cement at 21 and begun cement manufacturing in the 1990s. https://investdata.com.ng/2020/01/dangote-group-projects-650-revenue-growth-to-30bn-by-2022/
