Christianity EtcThe Mystrery Of Successful And Happy Life by accused(op): 1:52pm On Sep 23, 2012
THE MYSTERY OF SUCCESSFUL AND HAPPY LIFE The mystery of successful and happy
life lies in our interests, and good
memory which is the basis of our
interest, power of desire and aim,
keeping ourselves smiling and the
character which is the foremost important reason for a successful and happy life. Memory Power Good health is the basis of good memory power. To keep the brain
active, exercise and pure air is
necessary. We get knowledge of this world
through our sense organs. Therefore, it
is essential to keep them alert. As much as efforts are put to exalt
memory power it will improve. Whenever you wish to remember be
clear and open about it. If you wish to
remember a name write it down when
alone. Thereafter connect the name
with the object. If you would learn
something with interest and enthusiasm then you will easily
remember it. By Hand Posture and meditating, the memory power develops manifold. A person with memory weakness has the tendency of forgetfulness, slight
headache, inability to tolerate noise,
non -concentration etc. Power of Desire and Aim For physical, mental, spiritual and material success the desire for it and aim is extremely necessary. A person
who has no aim in life is like a train
without engine. A person with a weak
determination is not competent to take
any decision and incapable of executing decisions already taken. People with no determination and aim,
while doing a job think it would not
have been done, and when not doing a particular work think it should have been taken up. Such a person develops
lack of self -confidence. Therefore they
are rather shy in thoughts and deed,
hence do not progress much. As we mould ourselves the world gives us that shape alone and the way we
spend our life, our life takes that course
alone. A person who concentrates on
achieving his aim with determination,
his mind does not flutter here or there. To start any work the present moment
is the best time ideal for it. If your
drawback in one field hinders your
progress, then achieve success in another direction to make up for it. When we use our discretionary power
to fix a time for realisation of our aim
and start to fulfil it, then, our sub- conscious mind works very fact and we automatically find new ways to do it,
and success becomes certain. Role of Character Only a person who leads a moral life
remains free from disease. Character or
morality is such a source of power
within a human being which gives him
courage in difficult times. Education of building of character and morals values begins in tender age. Just listening to religious messages, moral
teachings etc., are not effective, unless
practised. It is better to be a man of strong
character than be famous. The way you spend your time and your true thoughts give a review of your character. A person’s character is known by his speech. A person’s thought process, builds his character. Truthfulness is recommended as the best ,but characters bears a higher place. Character is tree,
and fame is its shadow. A person with character
likes to bear his criticism. Laughing is way of happiness Laughing is such a great quality which is possessed by human beings alone amongst all living things. Laughing and smiling overcomes anger. A person
who remains happy ever, is dear to everyone . If you want to be healthy laugh loudly. Everyday
for five minutes practise laughter in different poses
before the mirror. Laughing removes tension, gives peace to mind, saves from heart problems, makes the face beautiful and paves a way for success. Laughing
loudly cures many ailments of the stomach, that is
why it is necessary to laugh loudly at least thrice or
four times daily. Make an effort to be smiling naturally while talking, walking, sitting, standing and all the time. This will
keep you always in a positive frame of mind.
Because when smiling such changes take in the
chemical formation of our body that prohibit
tension. One who learns to swallow poison of sorrow
smilingly, has learnt the art of living practically. Character of a Man If you really want to judge of the character of a
man, look not at his great performance. Every normal person can become a hero at one time or another. Watch a man do his common actions,
those are indeed the things which will tell you the
real character of a great man. Great occasions rouse
even the lowest of human beings to some kind of
greatness, but he alone is the really great man
whose character is great always, the same whatever he be. CHECK OUT MORE HUBS.............. 1.Impact of thoughts 2. Life is not bed of roses 3. Purpose in life 4. Effect of Mental Tension 5. Anger - A temporary madness 6.Do not lose hope when all doors are closed 7.Key factors to Success.
PoliticsWhat Dose Nigeria Have In Common Wit Pakistan, congo & India, yet It Cant Be Good by accused(op): 12:19am On Sep 20, 2012
What does Nigeria have in common
with Pakistan, Congo, and India? Yeah, it
can’t be good The report by the United Nations Children’s
Fund (UNICEF) said more than half of the
pneumonia and diarrhea deaths, which
together account for almost 30 percent of
under-five deaths worldwide occurred in just
four countries: Congo, India, Nigeria and Pakistan. Although, the UN revealed that, the number of
children under the age of five who die annually
has falling to less than seven million in 2011,
but generally boys and girls around the world
are still dying every day from largely
preventable causes UNICEF Executive Director Anthony Lake said
“this gives the prospect that these regions,
especially sub-Saharan Africa, will account for
the bulk of the world’s births in the next years,
we must give new impetus to the global
momentum to reduce under-five deaths,” UNICEF Executive Director Anthony Lake. He said youngsters from disadvantaged and
marginalized families in poor and fragile
nations are the most likely to die before their
fifth birthday, but their lives can be saved with
vaccines, adequate nutrition and basic medical
and maternal care. “The world has the technology and know-how
to do so. The challenge is to make these
available to every child,” Lake said. UNICEF said the rate of decline in under-five
deaths has drastically accelerated in the last
decade, from 1.8 percent per year during the
1990s to 3.2 percent per year between 2000
and 2011. “There is much to celebrate. More children now
survive their fifth birthday than ever before the
global number of under-five deaths has fallen
from around 12 million in 1990 to an estimated
6.9 million in 2011.” Lake further stated. The report underscores that a country’s
location and economic status need not be a
barrier to reducing child deaths, stressing that
Low income countries such as Bangladesh,
Liberia and Rwanda, middle income countries
including Brazil, Mongolia and Turkey and high income countries such as Oman and Portugal
have all made dramatic gains, lowering their
under-five mortality rates by more than two-
thirds between 1990 and 2011, the report
said. But UNICEF Deputy Executive Director Geeta
Rao Gupta stressed that there is “unfinished
business” and it is not just about the number of
child deaths. “Behind every statistic is an unseen child, and a
grieving mother and father. A child’s death is
all the more tragic when caused by a disease
that can easily be prevented. That’s why we
have this global movement to recommit to child
survival and renew the promise to end child deaths. This decline shows we can make this
happen,” She said. - AllAfrica
PoliticsTerrorist Hack Into Defence Head Quaters And Navy Website by accused(op): 10:39pm On Sep 19, 2012
Terrorists hack into Defence
Headquarters and Navy websites Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Oluseyi
Petinrin, raised alarm, Tuesday, that the
Defence Headquarters’ website and that of the
Nigerian Navy had been hacked into by
terrorists, adding that the threat posed by the
Boko Haram sect, through online reports of their activities needed to be effectively
checked. Petinrin raised the alarm just as the Chief of
Defence Communications, Air Vice Marshal
Osmond Amu warned that if cyber crime was
not checked, “the security challenges the
country is currently facing, such as killings,
bombs by Boko Haram, kidnapping, pipeline vandalism, oil theft, corruption and so on,
which had kept the armed forces and other
security agencies on their toes, would be
nothing compared to the potential threats
inherent in cyber space.” Speaking in Abuja, at the opening of the World
Cyber Conference, the CDS, who was
represented by Major-General K. Amao, Chief of
Research and Development, DHQ, said to
checkmate hacking into the websites of
security agencies, “DHQ has achieved successes in the deployment of Information and
Communication Technology, ICT, surveillance
and tracking equipment to locate criminal
elements in our society and perpetrators of the
Boko Haram menace. “However, further successes would be
achieved if we appropriately apply cyber
technology and space researches to tackle the
country’s contemporary security problems.” Declaring that it was no longer news that
Nigeria has been making moves towards the
actualisation of a cashless economy, the CDS
said: “Before the pronouncement of the
cashless policy, cyber attacks had been a major
threat to the Nigerian economy. The threat to the Nigerian cashless policy can, therefore,
never be overlooked. “While the country’s apex bank, CBN, backs
this policy, commercial banks over the last few
months have also keyed into the initiative. “Cyber attacks may stand out as a stumbling
block or threat to the actualisation of this
project, except concrete measures are put in
place to counter such attacks.” On his part, AVM Amu said: “The armed forces
and other security agencies are by themselves
incapable of containing the physical security
challenges, hence the call for collective
participation. Same applies to the containment
of cyber threat, but with a higher universal involvement.” In her message, Minister of State for Defence,
Erelu Olusola Obada, said the prevalence of
cyber crime is a worrisome development as
Nigeria becomes more reliant on ICT. - Vanguard Newspapers
PoliticsThe Natoinal Horror List by accused(op): 10:36am On Sep 19, 2012
The national horror list“Stealing a drum is easy, but finding a place to
beat it is not.” —Nigerian Proverb The uproar which greeted the publication of
this year’s National Honours list has been very
unfair to the majority of the those honoured.
Most critics ignored the fact that many people
on the list have eminently earned their
recognition and rewards. A few are borderlines. If you lowered the bar for who should be
honoured in a nation of 160 million people,
where values of hardwork, service and
enterprise have been severely damaged, but
are still basically standing, you will not lose
sleep over their inclusion in the list. If, on the other hand, you believe the bar
should be raised so that a nation desperate for
role models, genuine heroes and heroines and
distinguished patriots should reclaim vast
ground lost, you will keep them out. It is those who have no business being on a list
of rare Nigerians who deserve to be identified
as honorable men and women who embody all
our values in their lives and works that have
drawn all the negative attention to the list. The
list, like many before it, has failed to distinguish between the good, the bad and the ugly, and
the good have been unfairly besmeared. Naturally, the Federal Government has
defended its decisions on the list, including
bestowing the second highest honour on Mr
Mike Adenuga, a prominent Nigerian whose
business of politics and politics of business has
brought him under very close scrutiny of the nation. The heavy presence of politicians, and a large
number of people whose qualification, if one is
charitable, can be described as unknown, and
if one is not, as dubious, have also been
roundly condemned. Others have questioned
why distingnished jurist, Kayode Esho, should be given only the award of the Commander of
the Federal Republic, CFR. There are a few more “misplaced” recipients,
and loud voices against the insulting number of
women and young persons, as well as persons
with disabilities. On the whole, this year’s list
appears to have attracted more condemnation
than previous years, but President Jonathan will shrug this off as typical, a characteristic
response from a nation which has been more
critical of him than all his predecessors
combined. There will be some sympathy for President
Jonathan’s defence of his list as consistent with
previous patterns and practice. Perhaps so, but
this will render this otherwise useful
mechanism for national celebration of service
and excellence even more questionable in terms of its values. The fact is that politicians at federal and state
levels have long turned the national honours
award into a major source of bestowing
political patronage. The quality of the list has
progressively deteriorated with every year, and
it is doubtful if many of the recipients themselves now feel genuinely honoured
when they look at the entire list and find the
names and history of those they are honoured
with. In 2001,under the chairmanship of the late
Malam Liman Chiroma, the nomination
committee became worried by the seeming
lack of rigorous criteria and the existence of
strong political influence in the exercise which
were obviously compromising the quality of the Awards, and recommended some far-
reaching amendments to the process of
selecting those deserving the honour. Among
the recommendations made, these stand out: *Awards should not exceed 100 in any one
calendar year. This figure may be reviewed
every four years; *There should be a ratio of 60 men to 40
women in any one year. The ratio may be
reviewed every three years. *No public office holder, including President,
Vice President, leaders of the Legislature and
members of the Judiciary, Public Service or the
military and para-military should receive a
National Honour while occupying office. The
Award is to be seen as recognition of unblemished service, not a trapping of office. *Honours may be bestowed post-humously to
deserving persons; *The Presidency and Governors should not
nominate more than one quarter of the Award
recipients in any one year; *All Honour Awards should be made only in
recognition of excellent and unblemished
service and transparent honesty. They should
seek to reinforce our values of hardwork,
enterprise and innovation, create role models,
and should be inclusive and innovative; *All nominations, except those made by
Federal and state governments should be
published at least three months before
confirmation. Clearly spelt out guidelines which
should assist professional groups, civil society
and communities in making nominations should be published. No person who has not consented to being
nominated should have his or her name
published.All other nominations outside those
to be made by governments should be made
by citizens and group. *Awards should be withdrawn after
establishing that recipients have fallen below
clearly spelt-out criteria involving personal
integrity, records of service or conviction for
fraud or embezzlement; *Awards should not bestow any other
privilege on recipients; *Service and professional group awards
should be encouraged, but these should be
guided by strict rules which should protect
merit and integrity. There were a few more of these
recommendations, which, needless to say,
were rejected. To be honest, even those who
made them knew that they were merely a wish
list. Looking back, one wishes it were possible
for President Jonathan to re-visit them and stamp his authority on history as the President
who reversed the corruption of one of the
hallowed traditions of recognising and
rewarding increasingly rarified values in our
nation. While he is at it, he could also stop the
bastardisation of the awards of Honourary
Degrees by our universities. He could re-visit
the criteria for awarding the Academic Merit.
And why not re-assess the qualification,
experience and integrity of the people appointed to serve as ministers, special
advisers and key officers in the public service? He could ask where it is gospel that politics
necessarily involves the sacrifice of excellence
and experience, and encourages mediocrity
and sycophancy as cherished qualities. He can
ask how many of his ministers are qualified to
head ministries made up of vastly experienced civil servants who would run circles around
them the moment their incompetence or greed
shows. He could ask how many of his advisers are
qualified to advise him on anything, and why
the overall performance of his administration
has made it the object of national and
international derision. The answers, he may
discover, are not beyond his reach. They are the very people he interacts with every day,
people he trusts to deliver targets and services. When Professor Chinua Achebe rejected the
award of the third highest National Honour last
year, the second time he did this, many people
hoped that the Presidency will take a hard look
at the manner this Award business is being
handled. True, old man Achebe did not hold up his nose at the stench from his fellow Award
winners. He did it against his country, saying it
was not good enough to honour him. There will be people in this year’s list who will
toil with the dilemma of accepting a deserved
honour, or doing an Achebe. They should not.
Many people on the list deserve their honour,
and we congratulate them. The few who do not
will grab it with both hands. It will not redeem them. They and the government that gave them the
award have done a great disservice to a nation
desperate to find quality and respect in its
leaders and citizens.tt

PoliticsQ& A :on Film That Depicts Prophet Muhammed by accused(op): 12:01pm On Sep 16, 2012
Thousands have protested across the Middle
East and North Africa against a film made in the
US that depicts the Prophet Muhammad. What is
in the film and why it has enraged so many
people? How did the film come to public attention? The video was first posted online on 1 July without
attracting much attention. It was later picked up by
various Arab TV stations, with religious Egyptian TV
channel al-Nas's presenter Sheikh Khalad Abdalla
broadcasting scenes on 8 September. A clip from
his show, dubbed into Arabic, was posted online and within days had been viewed by hundreds of
thousands of people. The Afghan government says it has blocked
YouTube to prevent people from watching it. White House officials have asked YouTube to
consider whether the film breaches its own guidelines. These guidelines include the stipulation: "We encourage free speech and defend
everyone's right to express unpopular points of
view. But we do not permit hate speech..." Google, which owns YouTube, said in a statement
that the video was "clearly within our guidelines
and so will stay on YouTube", but added that
"given the very difficult situation in Libya and
Egypt" it had restricted access to the video in both
countries. What does the film show? The video, a trailer for a longer film entitled
Innocence of Muslims, appears to depict Islam as a
religion of violence and hate, and its Prophet
Muhammad as a foolish and power-hungry man. It opens with a scene in which a Coptic family in a
newly radicalised Islamic Egypt is attacked by a
group of Muslims while police look on without
intervening. The father tells his daughters that
Muslims want to kill all Christians and that the
Islamic state is hiding their crimes. It then shows the Prophet Muhammad and his life
with his family and his followers in the desert. He is
shown having sex with his wife Khadija and other
women. The video implies Khadija is behind the creation of
the Koran, which is described as a combination of
subversions of the Torah and the New Testament. The trailer depicts Muhammad and his followers as
killers, looters and extortionists. In one scene the
Prophet sanctions the sexual abuse of children; in
another, he says he is gay. Why is it so offensive? Depicting the Prophet Muhammad in any way
already defies Islamic belief, let alone satirising him.
His wife Khadija and his earliest companions are
also revered in their own right in Islam, and so
mocking these individuals is also considered
serious blasphemy. The founding principle of Islam is that the Koran is
the direct word of God, revealed to Muhammad in
order that he impart it to humankind. Depicting
Khadija as planning to concoct a holy book out of
the Old and New Testament defies an intrinsic
Islamic belief. Other references to Muhammad's affairs with
women, his greed and violence would clearly be
insulting in any context. What do we know about how it was put
together? The entire film is thought to be around an hour
long, although most have only seen a 14-minute
trailer which has now been widely circulated on the
internet in English and Arabic. The fuller version had a showing in a small Los
Angeles cinema, the Vine Theatre, in June, where its
title was The Innocence of Bin Laden. It was clearly put together on a budget, with a
cheaply made set, amateur actors and poor
production standards. It was shot over five days at
a California film studio in August last year, with a
cast of around 50, together with a large production
crew. The most offensive parts of the film appear not to
have been in the original, but dubbed over the
soundtrack at a later date. Who is Nakoula Basseley Nakoula? The now infamous trailer for the film was posted
through a Youtube account linked to the name
'sambacile' - originally reported as an Israeli-born
Jewish estate agent who had raised $5m (£3.1m)
from Jewish donors in the US to make the film. But
this person did not exist. US authorities now say they have identified
Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, an Egyptian-born
Coptic Christian living in California, as the man who
made the film. Mr Nakoula, who was found guilty of fraud in 2010
and ordered to pay more than $790,000 in
restitution, is thought to have used the pseudonym
"Sam Bacile" to hide his identity. He denies the
allegations. What do the actors say about it? They say they were misled about the film entirely,
claiming that the original film had nothing to do
with Islam or Muhammad, and that all references to
him and insults to the religion were added post-
production. Cindy Lee Garcia, who had a small role in the film,
told Gawker.com that she and others were given a script for a film called Desert Warriors, and that it
would be a historical drama set in the Middle East.
Ms Garcia also said she had seen Mr Nakoula on set. Who else appears to have been involved in the
making of the film? An American right-wing extremist called Steve
Klein, linked with various anti-Islamic groups in
California, has said he promoted the film but does
not know the identity of the director. According to Salon, Mr Klein cultivated links with Californian Coptic Christian Joseph Nasralla, who
has been identified as president and CEO of Media
for Christ, the organisation alleged to have
produced the film. Media for Christ is based in Duarte, California, and
advertises its mission as promoting Christian values. Pastor Terry Jones, from Florida, who gained
notoriety after threatening to burn a copy of the
Koran over plans to build an Islamic cultural centre
near the site of the World Trade Center, has said he
was in touch with a Mr Bacile over promotion of the
film, but did not meet him and could not identify him. According to Gawker.com, soft-porn director Alan Roberts was brought in to work on the film by
Nakoula Basseley Nakoula. The site says he too
may not have been aware what he was actually
working on. Is there something more going on here than
protests about a film? As was evident after Danish cartoons of Muhammad
were published in 2006, politicians and religious
leaders in the region used perceived insults to
Islam to rally public support. Protests began to spread from Egypt to other
countries - spurred on perhaps by local media -
because of a long-standing mistrust and anger at
the West, something a number of groups have
been able to capitalise upon. Middle East analyst Magdi Abdelhadi says that
although the film will have caused genuine offence
among many Muslims, groups like Al Qaeda, whose
black flag has been seen at some of the protests,
have seized the opportunity to stir up unrest. Disillusionment, lack of opportunity and anger at
the establishment is also feeding into the protests,
analysts say.t
PoliticsDo Our Soldiers Have Supervisors ? by accused(op): 11:35am On Sep 16, 2012
Do our soldiers have supervisors? Tweet 1 September 16, 2012 | 12:03 am Nigeria Today By Tonnie Iredia In a typical society, the maintenance of law and
order which may involve a drastic crackdown
on some elements in the society is essentially a
civil matter. It is not expected to involve the
military; hence most countries hardly call out
their military to deal with such matters that are clearly less than war. It used to be so in Nigeria
as every infraction was usually left for the
police to handle. The culture of keeping the armed forces in their
barracks was however altered by years of
military rule which militarized the people and
civilianized the military; and although military
rule ended in 1999, Nigeria has not been able
to return its armed forces to their proper role and location in the country. Now and again, soldiers are deployed to quell
communal clashes or to deal with one type of
conflict or the other which are being
erroneously seen as military functions. As a
result, our armed forces are often invited to
many rudimentary security-like duties which they ought to be called to only as a last resort.
As a matter of fact, even the routine police
function of road checks across the Nigerian
highways to apprehend criminals has virtually
been usurped by the military, on the grounds
of helping to combat insecurity. Expectedly, the image of the military is fast
becoming like that of the police following the
behavior of soldiers at checkpoints. To start
with, the locations at which checking is
expected to be done have not only become too
many, the time spent at each point is so excessive that it takes a minimum of 10 hours
these days to travel from a place like Asaba to
Abuja. There is a checkpoint between Asaba and
Agbor, another one between Agbor and Uromi,
another before Auchi, then two in Okene, one
before the Lokoja Bridge, another at Abaji, then
one after Giri junction before the last one which
is immediately after the Airport junction in Abuja. There is doubt if we had as many during the
civil war. Perhaps there are issues from the
security dimension that are unknown to lay
men which compelled the military to create and
sustain the policy for so long. Unfortunately, it
has raised too many posers. The first is the rationale for the long queues
especially the resultant long hours imposed on
travellers. Despite the argument that people
should make sacrifices for their own good,
every public policy ought to help the people
and not to punish them. Due to wrong handling of a road contract for
instance; people are inconvenienced for longer
than is necessary while Government officials
explain that everyone would be happier for it
at the end of the project. Must people make
avoidable sacrifices? Meanwhile, the international construction companies do the
same work timely and diligently in other
countries. In the same manner, the attitude of military
operatives at the checking locations is a
problem because it is so obvious from their
disposition that they are contemptuous of
public opinion and are insensitive about the
high degree of public discomfort which their operations create. If soldiers insist on checking the booth of every
vehicle as well as every luggage in it, there are
many people who would leave the scene
happy that some good work was being done.
It is a different matter if the soldiers tell
everyone in the car to disembark in the rain because they (soldiers) who are always in the
rain and sun are also human. As some people told this writer in Lokoja the
week before; what the soldiers claim to annoy
them is that the occupants of some vehicles
leave their air conditioners running while in the
queue. What an offence? When someone is
about two hundred vehicles away from a checkpoint, he tends to think that some earnest
efforts are being made to apprehend criminals
and their weapons. But on getting close to the end of the queue, he
suddenly realizes that the checkpoint is merely
designed to slow down traffic and that in reality
no checking is going on. When this is added to
the fact that military convoys and siren piloted
vehicles drive off along the curves and sometimes against traffic to avoid the
discomfort of long queues, the credibility of the
institution of the operatives is diminished. To argue that military convoys can be trusted
and need not be checked makes it hard to
explain the several times when impostors have
used military uniforms etc to cause havoc and
insecurity? The exclusion of military vehicles from checks
is not the only evidence of the self serving
nature of the military on our roads. There is
also the aspect in which they operate with a
retaliatory mindset instead of the larger picture
of ensuring public safety. The new and vicious Okene checkpoints confirm this. As we hear, the recent mayhem in the town
which led to the killing of some people
including 2 soldiers is responsible for the
overwhelming brutality at the points. In other
words, the Okene checkpoints are operated for
vengeance against the world at large as a deterrent to the innocent never to attempt to
hurt a soldier. To avoid the first checkpoint in Okene, some
vehicles use a longer route through Kabba.
Others dump the airport road for the Kubwa
road into Abuja. What this suggests is that it is
irrational to have permanent checkpoints as we
now do which having been known can be avoided. Indeed, the mounting of checkpoints as a
security device is obsolete in this age of
technology. There are devices that dispense
with that. The officer cadre of the Nigerian
military of today is too educated to allow this to
continue. Accordingly, they must immediately review the mundane functions they are
engaged in and disengage from them. Until that is done, they have to seriously induct
their field operatives on a code of conduct
otherwise those who deprecate their
unwholesome behaviour especially at
checkpoints which even the police are
abandoning, may assume that our soldiers have no supervisors.
Christianity EtcLieing In The Name Of God by accused(op): 10:55am On Sep 16, 2012
Whenever Paul swears, he tells a lie. Jesus calls the devil “the father” of lies. He says:
“He was a murderer from the beginning, and
does not stand in the truth.” (John 8:44). This
profile corresponds to that of Paul in the bible.
Paul was a murderer of Christians from the
beginning and he is an inveterate liar. Paul disregards the truth. He says: “The
important thing is that in every way, whether
from false motives or true, Christ is
preached.” (Philippians 1:18). Like a
chameleon, he declares: “I have become all
things to all men, that I might by all means save some.” (1 Corinthians 9:22). Accordingly, Paul
says: “I try to please everybody in every
way” (1 Corinthians 10:33). Then he
contradicts himself: “If I were still trying to
please men, I would not be a servant of
Christ” (Galatians 1:10). He even openly boasts of his deceitfulness:
“Crafty fellow that I am, I caught you by
trickery!” (2 Corinthians 12:16). This is not the
way of Christ. Lying and swearing Jesus says: “Do not swear at all. Let your ‘Yes’
be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is
more than these is from the evil one.” (Matthew
5:34-37). However, Paul could not obey this
injunction. He often had to resort to swearing
to make up for his deficit in telling the truth. Indeed, whenever Paul swears, he tells a lie. Paul says after his conversion, he went to
Arabia, seeking no interaction with the
disciples of Christ for three years. He backs this
by swearing: “Indeed, before God, I do not
lie.” (Galatians 1:20). But this is a lie. Paul was
instructed by Ananias in Damascus, where he interacted with Christ’s disciples; and then
Barnabas brought him to the apostles in
Jerusalem. (Acts 9:17-28). Paul says: “In Damascus the governor, under
Aretas the king, was guarding the city of the
Damascenes with a garrison, desiring to arrest
me; but I was let down in a basket through a
window in the wall, and escaped from his
hands.” (2 Corinthians 11:32-33). Paul backs this by swearing: “The God and
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is blessed
forever, knows that I am not lying.” (2
Corinthians 11:31). But this is also a lie. His
persecutor was not the Governor but Jewish
Christians: “The Jews plotted to kill him. But their plot became known to Saul. And they
watched the gates day and night, to kill him.
Then the disciples took him by night and let
him down through the wall in a large
basket.” (Acts 9:22-25). Paul swears to Timothy: “I was appointed a
preacher and an apostle- I am speaking the
truth in Christ and not lying- a teacher of the
Gentiles in faith and truth.” (1Timothy 2:7). But
Paul is lying. Jesus does not appoint teachers.
He says specifically: “Do not be called teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Christ.” (Matthew
23:10). Moreover, Jesus’ twelve apostles do
not include Paul. (Matthew 10:2-4). When
Judas committed suicide, Matthias (not Paul)
replaced him. (Acts 1:26). Jesus chose his
apostles from those who had been with him from the beginning of his ministry. (John 15:27;
Acts 1:21-22). This disqualifies Paul. Christians should avoid swearing since it is so
correlated to lying, as the case of Paul
conclusively demonstrates. Congenital liar Paul says the high priest hired him to arrest
Jesus’ disciples in Damascus. (Acts 22:4-5).
However, the high priest’s authority did not
extend to Damascus. Pharisees and Sadducees
were implacable opponents. But Paul,
ostensibly a Pharisee, claimed to be a hatchet- man for the Sadducee high priest. When Paul
finally met his putative employer, he could not
recognize him. After cursing him in ungodly
fashion, Paul pleaded: “I did not know,
brethren, that he was the high priest.’” (Acts
23:3-5). Paul said Jesus told him on Damascus road: “Go
into Damascus, and there you will be told all
that you are to do.” (Acts 22:10). But
subsequently, Paul lied to King Agrippa,
claiming Jesus gave him the blueprints of his
ministry there and then on Damascus road. (Acts 26:14-18). Paul further claimed Jesus
promised him: “I will deliver you from the
Jewish people, as well as from the Gentiles, to
whom I now send you.” (Acts 26:17). This is
an outright lie against Christ. Paul was not
delivered from the Gentiles. False witness Paul lied that he saw Jesus on Damascus road.
He asks: “Have I not seen Jesus Christ our
Lord?” (1 Corinthians 9:1). The answer is
“No!” Witnesses of the resurrection saw a
living Jesus. But Paul only heard a voice: “Saul
arose from the ground, and when his eyes were opened he saw no one.” (Acts 9:cool.
Elsewhere, Paul himself admits he could not see
Jesus: “I could not see for the glory of that light,
being led by the hand of those who were with
me.” (Acts 22:11). Later, Paul would further
embellish this testimony; claiming Jesus did not just appear to him, but was revealed in him.
(Galatians 1:15-16). In the bid to group himself with the true
apostles of Christ, Paul became a false witness.
He says Jesus appeared to the twelve disciples
on his resurrection. (1 Corinthians 15:5). This is
palpably false; Jesus only appeared to eleven
disciples. (Luke 24:33-36). Paul then says Jesus appeared to over 500 people at once. (1
Corinthians 15:6). This is pure fabrication by
someone who was not there. Peter, an eye-
witness, said there were only about 120
disciples at the time of Jesus’ resurrection. (Acts
1:14-15). Indeed, by deliberate design, Jesus did not even appear to all of them, but only to a
select few. (Acts 10:39-41). More lies Paul claims his second visit to Jerusalem was
occasioned by a revelation. (Galatians 2:2).
This is another lie. Paul was commissioned to
go to Jerusalem by the church in Antioch. (Acts
15:1-3). The edict of the Jerusalem Council had
four requirements for Gentile Christians: “abstain from things offered to idols, from
blood, from things strangled, and from sexual
immorality.” (Acts 15:29). However, Paul lied
that there was only one requirement: “They
ONLY asked us to remember the
poor.” (Galatians 2:10). But the poor were not even mentioned. Paul then declared deceitfully
it is permissible to eat food sacrificed to idols. (1
Corinthians 8:cool. When he was arrested and brought before the
Sanhedrin, Paul lied in the bid to divide the
Pharisee members from the Sadducees: “When
Paul perceived that one part were Sadducees
and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the
council, “Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee; concerning the hope and
resurrection of the dead I am being
judged!” (Acts 23:6). This is not true. His
accusers said different: “This is the man who
preaches against our people and tells
everybody to disobey the Jewish laws. He even talks against the Temple and defiles it by
bringing Gentiles in!” (Acts 21:28). Jesus is the truth. (John 14:6). The Holy Spirit is
the spirit of truth. (John 14:17). Therefore,
Christians must always be truthful. Paul says:
“If my falsehood enhances God’s truthfulness
and so increases his glory, why am I still
condemned as a sinner?” (Romans 3:7). This is facetious. Lies never promote the trutht
PoliticsNigerians Are Missing Me -dame Jonathan by accused(op): 10:30am On Sep 16, 2012
“Nigerians are missing me,” says Dame
Jonathan… in last week’s news with a pinch
of salt by Stanley Azuakola Nigerians are missing me – Dame Patience The wife of Nigeria’s Vice-President, Hajiya
Amina Sambo, has turned down calls for her to
step up and assume the role of acting first lady
of the federation, saying she is not interested in
the job, as she is loyal to her boss, Dame
Patience Jonathan. Some Nigerians have been worried that
following the first lady’s continued absence;
the very important duties of a first lady like
organising thank-you tours and causing traffic
have been left unattended to. But Hajiya Sambo
has said that there is no vacuum in leadership. Meanwhile, a source in the office of the first
lady told A Pinch that Dame Patience is excited
about the level of interest her absence is
generating. The source said, when she heard
how interested people were, she decided to
postpone her return for another two months, saying “Nigerians are missing me well-well. I
told them to make my position official and
constitutional but they refused. I will so do
them, that when I’m ready to come back, they’ll
be begging me to make my office official.” Three things A Pinch… saw and overheard last week A Pinch… would like to share with you some of
the things we saw and overheard this past
week. We are not exactly sure where we heard
or saw them though, so it might just have been
in our head. 1. A quote inside the in-flight magazine of
one of the remaining surviving airlines
in Nigeria: “What shall it profit a man to
build a great business and allow Jimoh
Ibrahim to buy it from him?” 2. The president would soon fire his
recently appointed attack dog, Doyin
Okupe over the current allegations
against him. In his place, CBN governor,
Sanusi Lamido would be appointed.
Sanusi who fancies himself as an effective attack dog, famously slamming
ex-president Obasanjo last week, will
bear the title of Chief Barker of Nigeria
(CBN). 3. President Jonathan hurriedly ended his
foreign tour earlier than planned
because of an epiphany he received.
The president who had just visited
Malawi to launch their Malawian National
Cassava Master-plan felt bad afterwards. He was worried that the last time Nigeria
helped a country in agriculture was
Malaysia, and now they’ve surpassed us
in oil palm plantations. He worried that
since Malawi and Malaysia have
similarities in how they are spelt, Malawi, “just like the other Mala- before it, will
come and surpass Nigeria in cassava
production” which is dear to his heart. CROWNED CLOWN (CeeCee) OF THE WEEK If it were in the days of old, songs would
actually have been written and sung about the
man, Dino Melaye. They would call him the loud
politician who knows how to capitalise on
situations for personal gain when in reality he
wouldn’t have acted any different, the ex- legislator renowned for his physical
combativeness, the serial political party
switcher, and the self-confessed election
rigger. In light of the stunt he pulled last week, they’ll
also call him the erratic, foul-mouthed
leadership pretender. Melaye, an Action
Congress of Nigeria stalwart, who obviously
harbours hopes of standing for elections again
in the future, was asked by one of his followers on twitter to explain one of his many bumbling
positions. Rather than declining to respond or
doing so with grace befitting a leader, this was
his response: “You can take two liters of acid
and shut up.” Now pause for a moment and think about this:
If that man was a Jonathan or a Fashola, do
you think he would tolerate free speech or
criticism? A Pinch… doesn’t think so. For his
natural ability to surpass his previous levels of
silliness, Dino Melaye takes the CeeCee this week. Follow A Pinch…on twitter @stanleyazuakola

ICKER: Saddam Hussein lookalike attacked
by men who tried to kidnap him to feature
in a porn film (See Photo) An Egyptian Saddam Hussein lookalike claims
an Iraqi gang tried to kidnap him and force
him to make a pornographic film
impersonating the late dictator. Mohamed Bishr, who comes from Alexandria,
said the group hoped to sell their video as
exclusive erotic footage of the former leader. He claims the gang beat him severely when he
refused to go along with the plan, despite
being offered $333,000 (£205,000). The devout Muslim says the gang made
threatening phone calls saying they would
kidnap him unless he changed his mind. Last weekend, he was leapt on while en route
to a cafe in Alexandria by three men in black
suits who tried to bundle him into a vehicle. Speaking from his hospital bed, Mr Bishr told
the Egyptian Al-Ahram newspaper: ‘The three
men, who had guns hanging from their belts,
forced me out of my car and shoved me into a
van, hitting my head.’ The devout Muslim says the gang made

to Saddam that he has previously been
assaulted by Iraqis living in Egypt who mistook
him for the despot and hoped to claim a
reward by turning him in. The former Iraqi leader, who was executed in
December 2006, was known to keep body
doubles in his entourage to help thwart
attempts on his life. Mr Bishr’s sons said he has moved four times in
a bid to avoid the attacks. One, Mahmoud, added, ‘We asked police to put
special protection on our father because this
has happened to us several times.’ - UK Daily :

The number of prostitutes we have this year is almost twice of last year, yet they still struggle to make ends meet......Yet the first lady doesn't concern herself with their existence.
By God's grace, the Jeroboam and his cabinets would soon become history of painful memories.
