https://www.nairaland.com/6370559/lasg-auction-88-impounded-vehicles I read the news of Lagos State government getting ready to engage in phase two of auctioning of vehicles belonging to traffic violators and I was surprised, shocked, disappointed and sad. Lagos is one of the most populated cities in the world and thus is be-devil by heavy traffic which in part is due to lawless drivers trying to either beat the traffic congestion or the various bad road. Lagos State government has been doing its best to manage the situation adequately which has been commendable in the past few years. In my own opinion the outright auctioning of cars belonging to traffic violators is extreme and laced with a bit of wickedness. Laws are made for the people and not the people made for laws. A fine should be imposed on them and failure to pay such fines within stipulated period can then lead to auctioning of the vehicles to make up for such fines. Even at that traffic violation fines should not exceed the minimum wage of 30 thousand Naira for each offense as well as man hours of community service (traffic control) for traffic offenders. With the economic recession, high inflation rate, high poverty rate and economic hardship, etc the government taking such drastic actions/measures is very heartless and devoid of empathy. I'm in no way in support of traffic violators but these acts of wickedness and anti people policies have to stop. Our institutions and policies must learn to be correctional and not punitive. It jt seems as if the government is out to punish and increase the suffering of it's citizens at every given opportunity. How can fines be higher than the minimum wage in a country that's considered the poverty capital of the world? In this present economic situation parting away with 30 thousand Naira as fine for traffic violation will hurt anyone let alone losing their cars and probably source of livelihood. Just imagine having to pay 60 thousand as fine in a month or two for traffic violation. No one will definitely want such. I also employ the government to ensure adequate, proper and appropriate signage at locations where driving against traffic is prohibited as many of such roads lack proper warnings by signage and traffic law officers are very much aware of this but are only concerned about their pockets and feeding fat on their victims. Speedy repairs of bad spots caused by pot holes should also be addressed by the government. I'm very much aware of the good works of this present Lagos State government but more is desired to make things better. LASG is using a sledge hammer to kill a fly, it is an overkill. I'm appealing to the government of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to please be empathetic and review/repel this policy/law that's laced with a bit of wickedness. Traffic congestion in Lagos will only be made better through smart innovative ideas and approaches. God Bless Nigeria God Bless Lagos God Bless Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu Èkó ò ní bàjé o |

Cutemind:Don't focus so much on finance for now, you need to find yourself first and that'll take studying. Studying yourself and your mind. You'll be surprised that what you've been searching for has been with you all these while but you've not known yourself enough yet to make it work for you and bring you that which you desire. |
Miracle1991:You're my village lawyer, I'm asking you to educate me. Since comprehension is your problem, read my submission again and this time please engage your brain to interpret for you. Did I try to in anyway defend the soldier that committed murder or state that he's not guilty? I won't obligation your attention seeking self with a response no more, no matter how much you quote me. Have a beautiful and blessed day my most educated and learned village lawyer! |
Four other soldiers arraigned for manslaughter were sentenced to various years of imprisonment. Sergeant Sani Ishaya was sentenced to four years, Bidemi Fabiyi sentenced to two years while Private Musa Bala and Private Abdulraheed Adamu were sentenced to one-year imprisonment.Charged with manslaughter was given one year imprisonment!!! I hate been or sounding tribalistic but giving death sentence to the only South Easterner(he deserves it of he's really guilty) and giving very light sentences to others especially of northern extraction where given very light sentences for manslaughter speaks volume of the kind of injustice in our nation. |
In as much as I don't like Trump, I do feel that these actions will leave a very dangerous ripple effect on America as a Nation. This might just mark the begining of the end of America as the world's super power. The once esteemed position of the president of the US has been degraded beyond redemption. They think they're hurting Trump, not knowing that this is a disastrous declension into a slippery slope of chaos and lose of the esteemed position of been a world power. Trump was bad but these steps has shown how weak, useless, unimportant and volatile the position of the president can be. Biden has so much to do, but even at that there'll be no recovery from this kind of damage to America as a world power. |
