Had same issue on my 4th Gen Toyota 4runner. A brake specialist removed the master cylinder and replaced it with a servo and master.
Brake is working perfectly.

I was reading an old post you made over brake issues on a Toyota land cruiser which you were able to resolve. Could you kindly recommend the mech that handled the conversion? I am having similar issues with my 08 4Runner.

I noticed a squeaky noise while driving on low speed. Noise when in top speed.
