The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and of course the current governor of Edo state winner of the states gubernatorial election.
Recall that Obaseki had in a final campaign rally in Benin City, said that with the support of Edo people and the endorsements by over 100 groups in the state, he was certain of victory.
After collating results of eighteen local governments in the state, INEC announced Obaseki winner of September, 19, 2020 governorship election.
INEC’s Returning Officer, Prof. Akpofure Rim-Rukeh, announced the total result of the election.

Kate Cunningham, 38, said it was one of the best decisions she has ever made when she married the tree at Rimrose Valley Country Park in Sefton, Merseyside in September last year.

She celebrated her first year of marriage with two friends and some elderflower champers.

She said: “Trees will always come first. They do keep us alive.”


“Despite causing a little bit of embarrassment for my 15-year-old, he sees the bigger picture now and understands what it’s for.

It was inspired by female activists in Mexico who held similar ceremonies as a form of protest to raise awareness of illegal logging and land clearing.


Likewise, she hoped the whacky tactic would attract attention to the campaign to save Rimrose Valley Country Park from being transformed into a bypass by Highways England.

She has called for an annual ‘Marry A Tree Day’ and encouraged more Brits to wed their local shrub.


“Not once have I thought that I shouldn’t have done it. It’s something that I feel like happened at the right time.


She said: “One day I was looking around tree hunting. I was like ‘oh yeah nice, nice, nice’ as I looked at the oaks, but as soon as I saw the elder, I thought ‘that’s the one’. “It doesn’t look like anything else around.


“This one stood alone amongst the tree. “Often I like to talk to the tree, I say hello and thank you for your good energy. I just feel like trees are people.

“You know if you feel attracted to someone or smile at them as you walk past, there’s just a natural attraction.

“Trees and flowers are the same. I like the story behind the elder tree.”

A lady identified as Apari Joy Oge, has been left disappionted after she purchased Meat-pie on the street.

Many communities have been affected after Margai bridge which links Kebbe Local Government Area with other parts of Sokoto State, collapsed due to severe flooding.


It was learnt that a part of the bridge, which was built during the tenure of Governor Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa, was washed away by the ravaging flood on Tuesday, September 8.

The only alternative route for the inhabitants of the area was that linking them with Jega Local Government Area of Kebbi State, which is over 100 kilometres from Sokoto metropolis, Daily Trust reports.


Malam Anas Dukura, who hailed from Kebbe, expressed fear that scores of students might miss the ongoing WAEC, unless something urgent is done.

He said,

“Our people must reach Jega, through a rough route, and then go to Aliero, another local government area in Kebbi State, before coming back to Tambuwal,” he said.

Confirming the incidents, the Sole Administrator of the area, Lawali Marafa Fakku, said that 9 wards were affected by the incident.





This is coming few months after a man was swept away by heavy flood in Abuja.

A video that went viral on social media captured the moment he was swept away and in the tragic video, the man was seen wading through the flood that extended above his waist. He seemingly missed his step and then struggled to regain balance, but the current was too heavy and he was swept away in seconds while screaming for help.

This happened after reported several warnings that he should stop going into the water. He was also reportedly drunk at the time he ventured into the flooded street.

South African Pay TV company, Multichoice (which runs DSTV), is not only increasing subscription rates across bouquets this summer, the company also intends to reduce its workforce in order to stay in business in Nigeria.
All of which has left the federal government of Nigeria fuming and exasperated.
“They said they are committed to keeping their business in Nigeria but are affected by currency devaluation and inflation rate.
“They said their fears are that they may lay off Nigerians in their employment if they have to remain in business,” Armstrong Idachaba, who is the Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), told the
Independent newspaper.
“They gave examples of other companies that are folding up because of economic challenges.
“At the end of the day, we told them that no matter the excuse they have, we are not going to tolerate any loss of jobs. We frown heavily at any attempt to lay off Nigerians because of these excuses.
“Secondly, we are not tolerating any unnecessary price hike. We asked them how they intend to do the increase and they said they want to start with the premium and then move gradually to the other packages,” Idachaba added.

President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, and other relevant government agencies to urgently provide humanitarian supplies to victims of flood disaster in Jigawa State.
The President also assured families affected by the flooding in several communities of the state of timely support from the Federal Government.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu in Abuja on Saturday.
According to the statement, “Commiserating with families who lost loved ones, farmlands means of livelihood and property in the ravaging floods in the State, the President directs the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and other relevant government agencies to urgently assess the situation in the affected areas with a view to providing the needed humanitarian supplies.
