Which gcam?
There are some gcam apps claimed to work without enabling cam2api but you won't get good results, maybe that's why you're not noticing differences....OR maybe it's Google camera and not gcam

Now? Nice? All flagships it seems...which you don't really need gcam for.

i know that feeling, it happened to me once, the miui camera just surpassed gcam with the same picture n environment settings, after that miui camera na mostly hit or miss, more miss actually. But with gcam i know more than 90% of the time the pictures will be lit

Rarely do i use my camera.its the least used feature on my phone after mi message.

I didn't specify device....you dont need root to use gcam.

You need cam2api to be enabled before gcam can work....you cant do that with a locked bootloader on xiaomi.... some manufacturers have cam2api enabled by default but not xiaomi.

For detailed guide on gcam...just read....straight forward, you dont need root but custom recovery is needed which means unlocked bootloader.

I just wondered too ....I've installed it now and it works though yet to notice any difference. On the RN5 camera, it allows me do autofocus/auto exposure sef ...so whats the hue about pix being blurry or what not? You need to adjust focus etc to get good pix. I taya joooor

There are some instances that the miui camera beats the gcam...
But the feeling here for some days now is that miui camera is unusable, lol

I have done my research,it doesn't come with google services doesn't mean it doesn't support it.lets be guided.

Chinese rom has Chinese bloatware and doesn't surppot Google services because of Chinese law but global rom supports Google services and many other goodies

Chinese rom supports google play services, just isn't added.you can do that yourself if you want.

I just got MIUI 10 update on my Redmi note 5 Al . I have updated my phone to MIUI 10 . I must confess that the update is good. But I think that the camera is no longer sharp as it used to be. Who noticed that too?

Go to camera settings, set contrast and sharpness from normal to high, might notice a difference
