Crime › Re: David Hundeyin Vs Kiki Mordi: Court Awards £95,000 Damages Against Hundeyin by Addme: 9:55am On Nov 24, 2024 |
AntiChristian: Too much!
The case between Charles Northcott (Claimant) and David Hundeyin (Defendant) revolves around a libel claim. Here’s a summary of the key points:
Background: Charles Northcott, a documentary maker, filed a libel suit against journalist David Hundeyin. The allegations stemmed from defamatory statements made by Hundeyin on platforms like Substack and X (formerly Twitter) in 2022.
Court Findings: The court ruled in favor of Northcott, stating that Hundeyin's claims were unfounded and damaging to Northcott's reputation.
Damages Awarded: Northcott was awarded £95,000 in damages for the libel, reflecting the court's recognition of the harm caused by Hundeyin's statements.
Evidence Considered: The court noted that there was no corroborating evidence to support Hundeyin's allegations, which contributed to the decision.
This case highlights issues of defamation and the responsibilities of journalists in reporting.
If na Nigeria now they'll say Tinubu or APC is witch hunting him! Now na saner climes! Thanks for the summary though I believe Ma Chidiebube would have caused Hundeyin to write that defaming article when both of them were together. But now, no evidence to back up all his claims. Hope he will learn a very good lesson from this. This is not the first time. |
