OP is making an interest point. The Yorubas may have not learn their lessons from the past. If not for British colonial interference, the Yorubas were engaged in a body genocidal civil war.

I actually remember reading a historical book written about the Yorubas.
It actually mentions that traditionally Yorubas are not a seafaring people, so they were not prone to settle in the coast, but due to the Fulani attempted conquest the Yorubas were pushed further south.

I think the OP is too exotic to resemble Yoruba, you clearly see in her admixture. Having been around Yoruba people she would not be able to pass completely.

But i agree and still disagree on ignorance being better than knowledge. Reason being that though the ignorance served it purpose in my early life, i'm so thankful i left the village for a better life. The lives of those who stayed back is not something i would want to envision for myself.

You're absolutely right to me white people are the most unreasonable people, as a result you cannot reason with them.
Chinese people are a lot better than them.
I think it is better that as black African people we dismiss and disregard their way of life and go back to live the way our honourable ancestors lived their lives, in village communities and living a self reliant way of life. The more we imitate them the worse off we are

Nice story OP. I feel that ignorance is more innocent and better than knowledge. I think that is why Africans are losing their dignity and respect as more and more I wanting to live and become oyinbo

Sir Francis Galton proposed a permanent settlement of chinese in east Africa, that would have eventually led to the complete replacement of the black people in that part of Africa.
I feel that this is relevant to today's current affairs; particularly in Africa as Africa is witnessing greater communication and transactions with China. Maybe it may lead to the chinese, forming their own territory or land space in Africa; and as a result black Africans will find themselves exterminated and displaced, in the same way the indigenous native americans and Australian aborigines got sadly exterminated.
Personally for me I feel it was a big mistake for Africans to have fought and demanded for independence from their former colonial European nations, as they (the African nations) were better managed and the African nations under colonisation had better law and order and enjoyed greater prosperity under colonisation.
The colonial officers did a better job managing and running the country than any corrupt African leader has done.
Ironically, being independent has made Africans to be more interdependent as they are running away to come to Europe and the Americas. There was a time where Africans loved and preferred their own homelands and would never leave it what has happened to that mindset?
