Nairaland / General / Africa's Population Woes by Adeba01(m): 5:36pm On Mar 22, 2020
One of Africa's most pressing issues in today's world is our population increase.

Prior to the white man's intrusion and his movement into Africa. Africa's population's was small and manageable.

But thanks and due to the white man's traits of meddling into affairs that don't concern them, their nosy nature and unnatural interference, as a result the white man brought his science and medication and consequently Africa's population has increased dramatically and because of that there has been a lot of stress on the environment and eradication of people's traditional lifestyle and practices (think of the san bushmen, the hadza and the pygmies of the equalateral rainforests).

I believe that Africans need and have to go back to how they used to live their lives prior to the white man's presence and have to forfeit all of the technology, city living and luxuries of the so called modern life, with all of the white man's stuff gone there will be a natural reduction of Africa horrific surplus population and there will be an equilibrium with nature.

For viewing pleasure and further additional information I will also post an online link further highlighting the causes of Africa's unnatural population explosion. Written by a well respected British anthropologist

Now I see that you're very ignorant of African history. For you to say the British dug up Benin bronze plaques and numerous other artistic articles means that you didn't even bother to check it up on google. You clearly didn't bring this topic to learn. For your information, non of those articles we're dug up. They were scattered around the city as adornment and used to decorate the huge palace of the king. Most of the plaques tell a story of certain eras of the empire. Some were for ritual purpose while others were for ceremonial purpose. People were interacting with these articles that were looted after the Anglo-Benin war of 1897. There's even a movie about it. Google to see things for yourself. The city was destroyed with mortar shells after the Benin people put up a stout resistance. No one will like the British for what happened in Benin.

What is the name of the movie?

Abeg let's just say the truth....it's good that we want to make our mother land appear great but the fact remains that Africa has a special problem which will continue to limit them if not dealt with..

*The African particularly the black African have a problem with development and an affinity for backwardness and bushery...before u eat me alive
The Europeans like the anglo saxon were primitive before they were colonized by the romans just like we African were once primitive.....now these primitive Europeans quickly picked up themselves and became developed but boy old Africans have remain backward till 2020

The Spirits that found their way to Africa as idols are dullards and dumb idiots....the Europeans and Asians were extremely religious in the medievial ages and even in the days before Socrates...but yet they were extremely innovative they worshipped their own gods in masoleoums, and in great architectural wonders but our forefathers worshipped their own gods around a red cloth strapped to a tree and the best they Could creat were mud huts...oh and when a chance for evolving their minds to discover innovative ideas they cut it short in fear of the unknown...I hate all African idols .spitss

Man is wicked naturally but the majority of the African men are stupidly wicked...yes the white man engaged in slave trade to build his cities and used black men to enforce so great work in their lands...what wickedness and rascism...but our African father's stupidly raided their brothers towns and sold their own countrymen for tea and sugercane ...hope u know that the highest resistance to the abolishment of slave trade in Africa came from Africans...

Give Africa politics they will corrupt it,give them an education system they will misuse it,give them churches and mosque some will make the churches a business and the Islam an avenue for killing and uncontrolled child bearing
The African has proved over the years to be retarted ,dumb and corrupt except for a few minut exemption in which I am included ..
All the African thinks of is void of development and innovation and focus on daily bread and on cheating others from their own bread......Africa need Jesus....I repeat man is wicked naturally...but Africans have added stupidity to their wickedness

All of u forming solidarity ....this remains the reality in Africa deal with and change

So true that is why I believe we ought to keep our population numbers to the minimum

Bantu migration was moving westward until the boers forcefully pushed the Xhosas back towards the East. The khoi-khoi are black people too so the question of the ownership of Capetown or Western cape entirely is not in question.
Well, like most ancient civilizations literacy was for only the rulers and their scribes and not for the populace or even elites. I believe these black scribes and the rulers where killed off and the black illiterate populace became scattered. I hope you know Ethiopians have their written scripts which was preserved till date and they are black people too. How can you say we are sparsely populated? How many slaves were carted to the Americas and other parts of the world from Africa? Millions. What's our population today? My ethnic group is over 35 million people. No wheel you said yet we were blacksmithing and making intricate designs of articles which marveled the europeans. The ancient Benin Empire of present day Nigeria still have hundreds of their precious items at display in British museums which was looted by the blood thirsty British in 1897. These were works of excellent artistry that you can check on the internet right now. Do you think we were just living like animals? We might not be grand like Egypt again but we didn't lose everything. You will agree with me that certain persons and times are timely and key to development. Benin was very great during the time of certain Kings and fell during other times. The Greeks once ruled the world but were later swallowed by to the Turks. So is life. Expansion and decline. What about Babylon? Today, Iraq is nothing save for their oil. Benins story is perfect because they had no relationship whatsoever with the Sahel or north Africa in their development.

I like to be pretty civil, and let me just say let us agree to disagree, thanks for sharing your opinions and insight, as it was very interesting to see another brother's opinion on topics and issues that has gotten me thinking this past year or so, it goes to show we can never agree between ourselves and one wants to go one direction but the other one wants to go the other direction, where I think it's wrong it's for any party or person to impose and force themselves on another person. (That is sadly the situation that is happening to my cherished pygmy, hadza and san bushmen, whereby the government officials are forcing them and pushing them out of their traditional lands to go and live in a squalid camp where vices and diseases are ripe, rampant and spreading amongst them embarassed).

How ironic that without white people's presence and their sciences (such as archeology) black people would have been completely and genuinely ignorant of the existence of Ancient Egypt shocked, so then what? Speaking about archeology you mentioned how the british looted benin artefacts and are displaying them at the British museum, but guarantee to you that had the british not dug up the artifacts, the artifacts would have been long forgotten as they would have still been buried deeply under the earth.

What do you mean by wonderful story? Didn't we have flourishing societies before contact with the Portuguese? Weren't we smelting iron, domesticating animals, planting crops, observing religious worship, discussing and taking communal decisions before the Europeans touched our shores? Were our masquerades an import of the Dutch? Are the masks and wood carvings in our societies found among the Europeans? All these artifacts have been dated as far back to a thousand year back, outside contact with any non Africans. Doesn't it tell you of its originality.
As for inferiority complex, almost all society show such phenomenon at a point in time under certain conditions. This is why power shifts from one region to another all over the world. As confidence wane, inferiority feeling set in until a group of highly conscious persons drive a renaissance to wake up the society. It has happened everywhere in the world.
Behaving like slaves is something I don't understand. I certainly don't behave like a slave and my people don't too. Majority of the people I know don't behave such too so I don't understand you here. As for traveling overseas, migration is a natural thing for survival. Even animals do so. It doesn't matter what you'll start doing as you arrive. As long as you have a big goal and you set your heart to it, you'll achieve it. That's the aim of all the oversea travels that I know of including mine. Today, average Chinese people are scattered in Africa pursuing their dreams independent of their government. Is that also a slave mentality?
We don't live our lives like white people. We're simply moving with the times. Evolution is part of life. Your forefathers were once hunter-gatherers like the bushmen but eventually evolved to stop running up and down and start domesticating cattle and planting crops. I believe they were wearing animal skins but will gladly wear pants and coats if they had access to it. Majority of what the whites brought we're things to make life easier. These definitely will cause some problems too but when you compare and contrast, you'll see that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Take for instance, your immediate forefather can't compare his endurance and stamina with the bushmen who can trek from Capetown to Limpopo without stress because it is their way of life as against your forefather who had become a bit relax because of domestication. With bicycles, motorcycles and cars, you become less strong and more relaxed which I know you enjoy but wouldn't want to go with the requirements to maintain these vehicles. If so, then this is a childish behaviour. I think I know where exactly you're from because only people from that area reason like this.
For democracy, I'll tell you that it existed in Africa for long before the Europeans came. Among my people, democracy reigned supreme to the consternation of the whites. I can sense that you dislike democracy because it doesn't favour your greed. You want to be free to gather your gangs and Lord and feast on the weak. Sorry, the time for that is long gone. Get use to it.
Capitalism is a better of the economic principles given human nature. Communism and socialism are more practicable when humans have little or no selfishness and equal value system. This you know is not true. Even in the olden days, there were rich and poor people. The difference is there were less ways of showing affluence compared to today and therefore less jealousy. Before, rich men married up to 20 wives while poor men barely maintained one. The size of the houses, family and wealth is not the same but that's where it ends and so you're not that intimidated. Today, the rich guys have big cars, super buildings that makes yours look like a shack and shiny tuxedos that you can only dream of plus easy accessibility to the flashy chicks hence your anger. Back to capitalism: this principle basically is more like excelling according to your drive and opportunities. Communism on the other hand is whereby the everyone has equal access to most things irrespective of the effort they put. Both have their pros and cons and in reality, no country practice exactly one of them entirely. It's usually a mixture of both to varying degrees. When you factor in basic human nature, you'll see that capitalism will appear more practicable as it encourages competition and productivity. Excellence is also rewarded and upholding responsibility appreciated. Communism ensures that everyone has access to the basic things of life whether they put effort or not. Excellence is blurred and eventually discouraged because it makes no difference to the persons doing extra work. The society suffers in the long run and starts to decline. So you see communism is rarely sustainable.
For the artificial boundaries, I agree with you and that's why I'm against the it but only in areas where the indigenous people are against it too. If the people of the particular areas are comfortable with the boundaries, then let it be. I hope some day, we as Africans will look into it and rectify the desired ones.
Language is a mode of communication and the easier it is the better for all. In the days of old, lots of people were multilingual because they have to speak the language of their neighbours for ease of trade. Why should it be different today? Swahili is the most popular as well as spoken indigeous African language yet European languages stand sidi side with it as national languages because the world is too interconnected today. If you don't want that, cut off ties with the international community and stand alone like North Korea.
Finally, you can go back to your village and live without electricity and water supply. Go fetch from the streams and visit the sangomas when you're sick. Don't force yourself on a woman like in the olden days because she has a right today. Drink to stupor in the local shibeens and make no trouble and no government will trouble you.
Don't worry about me forcing myself on a woman I am confident and sure that there are women that are like minded like me, I could find myself a beautiful rural african woman that just like me prefers the natural simple living of the countryside. Besides I have come into this world to be happy and to do what makes me happy. From my own personal experience, trust me a woman can never make me happy, it is only nature that makes me happy. Human beings are pathetic anyway. At least North Korea will not lose an extremely valuable, priceless most honourable thing which is their language and culture anytime soon. Africans continue on your path of self destruction become more white than white people themselves. If I may ask what if white people suddenly turn their backs away from you? What if white people decide to stop the way of life they live and instead decide to live a more simple life. The way I see black people they will have a mental breakdown and would not know how to cope and manage themselves.
Let me tell you something about this change and so called evolution that you're clamouring about, well now all for the sake of evolution and change they are now legalising gay marriage and transgender people, all for the sake of evolution and change they are now telling you that you wasn't born a gender. So now according to your philosophy of evolution and change you have to accept this as; 'what is the problem this is the so called modern age', 'it's 2020', this is not the 19th century what is your problem this is all part and parcel of the 21st century . So Yujin you would have to accept this as it is part of evolution and change you cannot pick and choose. At least for me I know that I choose what we had before over what the whites have and are giving to us.
Lastly, are you aware that the reason why pygmies and san bushmen are being harassed by government agencies is nothing to do with forcing themselves unto women, which I thought was a bizarre thing for you to mention (could you be pretending to be a male when actually you're a female), there is no need for them to do that when they have their wives and are family men. The actual reason why is because the government officials have selfishly and in a nasty horrible way set up game reserves so the san bushmen and pygmies are not allowed to hunt for animals to feed their families and therefore destroying their livelihoods.

The article said that the mummies where dna resembles those of the East and the Levant and was mostly from a specific area where various immigrants had settled in Egypt. The period in question is 1300yrs whereas Egypt had been effectively occupied even before the formation of the great Roman Empire over 2000yrs ago. Persians(Levants) where already in o 2300 ago before the Greeks defeated them and took over by Alexander the great. Today, there's a city of Alexandria in Egypt in his honour. Population mixture increased dramatically around this time just like SA population is mixed today. 500yrs from today, someone like you will argue with other black people that the samples from burial sites in Capetown pointed to the people living there as of European heritage hence, it never belonged to black people. This is what happened to Egypt.

But the black populations never managed to get to the western Cape region of South Africa, the bantu migrations halted on the eastern side, albeit there was a small khoikhoi population there at the western cape, but this is a different case altogether, they will find out that the khoikhoi were there first. Even if I were to humour you and entertain this comic relief idea that ancient egyptians and black people are one what happened to black people, how the heck did they manage to devolve so badly and so quickly transcend into mere sparsely populated tribes with no wheel, no written language, before the advent of the white man, what happened Yujin to the great and wonderful egyptian civilisation that black apparently had

There are two various kinds of mixed race people but I'll limit it to just three. Blacks and other races, whites with other races and blacks and whites. Among these three, I believe your concern is that between blacks and whites. This is because this set of mixed race is the biggest so you think. Europeans have mixed with middle easterners for thousands of years without problem. The aboriginal Americans have mixed with Europeans for hundreds of years now without much problem so why should we? Only in SA do we have 'coloured' race because both sides wanted it. If the whole world had been discriminating against offsprings of mixed race copulation, then we would be creating multiple problems because to cement a race, you need land. Which land will be ultimately theirs? What land belong to the 'coloureds' of SA? Capetown? Think my friend, think.

But they are coloured that is actually the correct term they are not black they have 50% of their blood which is white so I am not sure why are trying to dispute that.
Maybe because you cannot sympathize with the American Indians but it would have been interesting instead of the whites to have taken north and south america they should have taken Africa, then and now it would have been interesting to see how black people view white people and their reactions. Imagine having your land and way of life and everything that is dear to you taken away and you being uprooted from your land and only to find out eventually that other races are joining in the oppression and are supporting the oppressive system which is what black people are doing by moving to America and Canada. Do you think American Indians mix with white people out of choice, it was forced on them. They were regarded as mixed offspring. I feel like you contradict things because at first you deny the existence of race and hence you justify miscegnation, afterwards you except the idea of race and talk about land space for race so which one is it?

If really you're a black man like you claimed, then you have your mind messed up already. It's good to criticize black people but while at it, you need to be highly informed on your accusations and be constructively.
Firstly, claiming mixed race people is not a crime but a laudable thing to do. Mixed race people have always existed from time immemorial and they never did this in isolation. So, here you're off point.
Secondly, calling ancient Egyptians Asiatic people tells of your poor knowledge of history. The people occupying Egypt today are descendants of Arabs and Europeans who are clearly not the original people. Egypt suffered a lot of conquest from Persian, Greek to the Turkish/Arab occupation. All their way of life was changed and the demographics changed entirely. The copts who are the closest to the original people are mainly of Southeastern european ancestry who had integrated into the Egyptian society. Reliefs inside ancient monuments including those giant pyramids you see are mostly of black people. The great Sphinx has all black features which later european Invaders tried to deface. All these gives credence to the race of the aboriginals. So, when we fratanize with Egypt, know it that we're associating with the ancient Egypt and not with the present (Mo Salah) people who are basically Asiatic. As a matter of fact, a good number of West Africans came down to our present location from that axis. How else can you explain the few pyramids that we're found in my region though of lower grand? Lots of artifacts connecting us together. We speak from a position of knowledge and not of emotion. As for the pygmy and San Bushmen, these two were still hunter-gatherers as of few decades ago and a rather interesting to watch but still will never be rejected by us. They're are black people like us so why will we reject them? All I can say is that these two groups of people are still unknown to millions of West Africans and when they eventually meet these people, imagine the scenario. The pygmy all less than 4ft in height and less development will be much funny to watch. Same to the bushmen who can win the marathon race for Southern Africa yet that dream is still far fetch because of doubt if they can keep to the track. No sensible black person can reject or hate on them. For the hazda people, this is the first time I'm hearing of them. Whatever they might be, I agree that they're all interesting and full of wonder(not wonderful). I wonder the sort of acknowledgement you speak of.

I am sorry to disappoint you but mix race people are not and can never be black you don't see chinese people claiming their own mixed race people from whites. With regards to ancient Egypt if you follow recent genetic studies it is pointing to the fact that they are a eurasian race of people not African. Black people do show hatred towards pygmies and san bushmen, as they are continuously being harassed, criminally prosecuted, and stripped away from living their traditional lives and practices, they are bring compelled and forced away from their traditional lands and livelihoods even though they prefer to keep on being hunter gatherers (which by the way there is nothing wrong with that), and the government places them in camps where they live sadly in squalor and addiction to strong alcohol angry, a proud race of hunter gatherers being forced out of their lands and traditional way of life all thanks to black government officials angry angry angry

For you to sound like this, I'll have to agree that you and gregyboy are birds of a feather. Africa certainly has a history and we were living like every normal community with our natural resources and lacks. Heavily forested regions can certainly not be with enough food to sustain the people. Are you an Afrikaner?

That is a wonderful story, but please if I may ask if we were living our own african lives as you say, why did we allow inferiority complex to come in and invade our minds and way of thinking and affect our lives, why do we behave like slaves and run away from our africa homelands to come into the cold dry lands of white people in Europe and North America, why do we live our lives as if we are white people, why do we implement and uphold white institutions like democracy, capitalism and the artificial african countries that the Europeans created, why is it that in our so called proud independent african countries our national languages are indo european, the last I checked black africans are not an indo European people so what gives.

I being of black african descent why is it near impossible for me to live the simple village african life that my forefathers lived without being harassed by government agencies ??

For you to sound like this, I'll have to agree that you and gregyboy are birds of a feather. Africa certainly has a history and we were living like every normal community with our natural resources and lacks. Heavily forested regions can certainly not be with enough food to sustain the people. Are you an Afrikaner?

No I am not an afrikaner, I am a proud melaninated man.

I believe this is the problem with us black people we lack self critical thinking, instead of that, we replace it with emotions and wishful thinking, this is the reason why we are the only race that claims mixed race people as their own, what bizarre and weird way to think. We obsess and love to claim foreign asiatic people like the ancient Egyptians but we refuse to acknowledge our own people like san bushmen, pygmies and hadza people, very interesting people with a wonderful way of life.

How do you know that she is sex-worker maybe the poor lady was waiting for her boyfriend or something.

Actually that is a sensible point, one cannot positively ascertain that she is a prostitute as you suggested she may be waiting for her boyfriend or even family member. The only ones that can confirm what she is doing there are the ones on the ground not us here on an online forum.

I think we have this habit and unwholesome trend of reporting fake news... whatever happened to the hysteria of the fulani herdsmen, now it has been taken over by coronovirus and the eating habits of chinese people

Interesting and intelligent question OP you have asked. Normally I like to back up my posts with sources, but with this one I am going to do something unique and solely express my opinion.

I believe that the Fulani are a hybrid mixed race and a cross between caucasoid north african berbers and negro black sub saharan africans. This mixture event must have been quite historical probably happened 1,000 to 2,000 years ago. And it would have taken place in north africa I believe in the region of what is now Morocco.

Actually I am going to post a genetic study carried out on the fulani that demonstrates some sort of foreign blood the Fulani have absorbed

grin grin This White South African keeps deceiving tpiar and others that accept what he or she says, I already know that your from a white South African family and it is in the nature of your family history to dispose blacks from what's rightfully belongs to blacks, well you are leaving up to the expectation keep the fire burning, keep disposing them, the so called blacks (some of them) here in Nairaland and also, you keep throwing some articles up and down to support your Eurocentric view well who exactly wrote those articles the same white, your white ancestors who derived pleasure in disposing blacks from things that belongs to blacks, all I can say is that nature runs in the family blood.

To be fair to you I think it is rather strange and odd for you to be taking the defence of black south africans when they have no love or even warm feelings towards other black africans and have been even killing and discriminating against other black Africans, they justified this by saying that there were criminals and drug peddlers embarassed . When in actual fact black africans are trying to make an honest living in that country. As it stands even white countries treat black africans better than black south africans. Goes to show how we are towards one another lipsrsealed embarassed

South Aftica was actually a lot better under apartheid. It was a lot more orderly and functional
