Update: Ghanaian actress, Akuapem Poloo arrested over her nude photo with her seven-year-old son

Ghanaian actress and video vixen, Akuapem Poloo has been arrested over her controversial nude photo with her seven-year-old son.

The arrest comes days after Child Rights International petitioned the Inspector-General of Police in Ghana to investigate her over the controversial birthday photo with her son which went viral on social media.

In the photo, which she posted on Tuesday, June 30, the actress went completely nude in a photoshoot with her son to celebrate him on his 7th birthday. She said she decided to go naked in front of her son who was only in his underwear because she gave birth to him naked.

HealthNigerians Drag China To Court Over COVID-19 Pandemic, Demand $200bn Compensation by adebanji261(op): 2:49pm On Jul 07, 2020
Twenty-five Nigerians have filed a lawsuit against the Peoples Republic of China before the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court over its alleged culpability in the spread of the novel Coronavirus and are demanding a $200 billion compensation over the effects of the pandemic on their livelihoods.

A team of 11 Senior Advocates of Nigeria ((SANs) and other lawyers led by Professor Epiphany Azinge (SAN) filed the lawsuit. The lawyers say the COVID-19 pandemic started due to their negligence, nuisance, and breach of environmental and humanitarian rights of the Chinese government. The defendants in the suit were listed as the Peoples’ Republic of China, Communist Party of China, Minister of Justice China, Minister in charge of the National Health Commission, National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wuhan Institute of Virology and Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention.

The claimant in the class action instituted for themselves and other Nigerians affected by the COVID-19 pandemic include; Kingsley Obioha, Shehu Mohammed Bello, Goodrand Nigeria Limited, Chief Ekene Ebuzeme, Prince Akin Oladipo, Sir Mark Olajide, Mr. Tanko Beji, Chief Victor Nwosa, Chidi Onwuemere, Pasaya Travel and Tours Limited, Trips Shop Limited, Mrs. Susan Akporiaye, Carolyn Asoanya, Jerry Azinge, His Royal Majesty Williams Ezugwu, Ogugua Ogosi. Others are Ayobami Bakare, Olusegun Nelson, Oshineye Adebowole, Adeolu Odusesan, Yinka Omotosho, Mojeed Adelakun, Ajetoke Oyekan, Abdulhakeem Adeleke and Ademola Toromade.

According to the 1st Claimant, Kingsley Obioha, a young erudite lawyer who represents the class of legal practitioners in the country, the legal practitioners in the country on account of the pandemic have been unable to conduct legal business and make appearances in court.
“The class due to the impasse and the attendant restrictions continues to incur heavy financial losses” Obioha said

In the same vein, Shehu Bello, the 2nd claimant and a Bureau de change operator representing the class of forex traders carrying on business across the country, argued that the forex market was shut down due to the pandemic, causing many forex traders to lose huge returns.

“Most of the operators lost their capital because of the pandemic and with the easing of restrictions are witnessing a volatility of the market leading to a decline in investment,” the claimant said

They accused China of failing to act in accordance with the Articles and the provisions of the International Health Regulations, 2005 which it equally ratified on June 15, 2007 (the IHR) and failing to promptly inform the World Health Organisation (WHO) of its discoveries relating to Covid-19. They argue that China's action constitutes a breach of the above Articles, and admittedly an express neglect of an international obligation.

Among the reliefs sought include a declaration that the defendants were negligent in their handling of the COVID-19 outbreak which resulted in untold hardship, death, loss of livelihood and disruption of socio-economic activities.
“A declaration that the defendants handling of the Covid-19 outbreak violated the Claimants’ humanitarian rights guaranteed under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, resulting in social exclusion, loss of human dignity psychological trauma and social deprivations,” among others.

HealthMadagascar Re-imposes Lockdown Amid Surge In Coronavirus Cases by adebanji261(op): 7:55pm On Jul 05, 2020
Madagascar has placed its capital Antananarivo under a fresh lockdown following a new spike in coronavirus infections, two months after the restrictions were eased, the presidency announced on Sunday, July 5.
“The Analamanga region (under which the capital is situated) is returning to full lockdown,” the presidency said.
No traffic will be allowed in or out of the region starting Monday until July 20 and a strict curfew will be imposed on street movement by people.
“Only one person per household is allowed to go out into the street between 6:00 am (0400 GMT) and 12:00 pm (1000 GMT),” said the statement.
The measures have been taken “because of the spread of the epidemic and the increase of COVID-19 cases,” it added.
All government meetings will now be held via video conferencing, while court hearings have been suspended.
Madagascar was used to registering dozens of COVID-19 cases a day, but the country has recently seen a spike in cases after 216 peoples tested positive on Saturday, July 4.
According to the country's health officials, 2,728 positive cases have been recorded including 29 deaths since the virus was first detected on the Indian Ocean Island on March 20.
Back in April, President Andry Rajoelina launched a herbal medicine, COVID-Organics, which he claimed prevents and cures the novel Coronavirus.

PoliticsHand Over To Me, You Are Incapacitated - Ondo Deputy Governor Tells Akeredolu by adebanji261(op): 1:49pm On Jul 05, 2020
Agbola Ajayi, the deputy governor of Ondo state who recently joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has asked Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to hand over to him.

In a statement released after Ondo commissioner for information, Donald Ojogho said the governor will never allow his Deputy take control of the state, Ajayi stated that he ought to be the acting governor since Akeredolu is partially incapacitated after testing positive for Coronavirus.

The Deputy Governor insisted that the Governor's refusal to allow him take control of the state, violates the country's constitution.

The statement released by his spokesman, Allen Sowore reads;

“Section 190 (2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) is apposite in the prevailing constitutional abberration in Ondo State.
“However, it should be noted, that Mr Governor is at liberty to handover or not within 21 days after which the constitution becomes operational.
“Ostensibly, the refusal and failure of Mr Governor to handover the running of government to his deputy while he is temporarily incapacitated in self- isolation underscore his absolute disregard for our nation’s supreme document, 1999 Constitution (as amended) as well as the tenets of rule of law.
“The Governor’s position is a spite on the Ondo State people and a direct assault on the provisions of the constitution which he swore to uphold.
“Governor Akeredolu’s deliberate mounting of obstacles to smooth running of government machinery while he’s in self isolation as a result of the fact that he has been tested positive for the COVID-19 privileges the hypocratical nature of Ondo State government’s war against the ravaging pandemic.”

35 primary and secondary school students arrested at drug-filled party; used condoms found at venue

35 primary pupils and secondary school students have been arrested in a raid carried out by the Kenyan police in a rental house at Sango Estate in Homa Bay town on Friday.

While 6 others escaped, 20 girls and 15 boys aged between 13 and 17 were found drunk and naked. Used condoms were also found in the 2-bedroom apartment in the raid led by Arujo Location Chief Robert Lango, Homa Bay Township Assistant Chief Duncan Odhiambo and his Arujo Sub-location counterpart Jackton Olielo.

Lango said a parent rented the house for her two daughters, but neighbours raised the alarm after hearing loud music. The owner of the apartment, Patrick Ayieko was also arrested.

He said;

“We found used condoms which we believe the children used to engage in sex. Six managed to escape when we arrived.
“Some of the minors were dressing up when we got to the house. They had turned the house into a brothel.
“I mobilised my team and went to the house. We locked the door and called police officers who came in a vehicle and arrested the children. The owner of the house, Patrick Ayieko was also arrested for allowing children to conduct immoral activities within his compound."

They were all taken to Homa Bay Police Station but were later released because of lack of space.

Homa Bay Sub County Police Commander Sammy Koskey who also confirmed the incident, said that they have summoned the parents and guardians of the children to report to the police station on Monday July 6.

My husband looked like a farmer when I first met him- Regina Daniels
Regina Daniels says her 60-year-old billionaire husband, Ned Nwoko, looked like a farmer when she first met with him. The couple got married in April 2019.

The actress who welcomed their first child together on June 29 this year, disclosed this in an interview with Punch.

In the interview, Regina said she met her husband for the first time when she and some others went on a tour of his house in the village
''The first impression I had when I met him, which I will keep saying is that he looked like a farmer. We actually went on a tour to his house in the village (Aniocha North Local Government Area, Delta State) and he was so polite and educative. He wants one to know about nature and the world in general. He wants one to experience different things, so he was always trying to educate us on that particular visit.''
The actress said her hubby is always pushing her to be a better person.
''Being married to him (Ned Nwoko), I feel free. I can do whatever I want, dress however I like and live my life. He is always pushing me to be a better person. He brings me out there because he wants me to be more exposed. He wants me to see the world in a different way. As a matter of fact, there are so many things I just can’t start to explain.''

CrimeUganda Motorcycle Rider Kills Himself After Police Officers Refused To Release.. by adebanji261(op): 2:52pm On Jul 03, 2020
Uganda motorcycle rider kills himself after police officers refused to release his bike seized for flouting COVID-19 rules (photo)

A 29-year-old motorcycle rider in Uganda, Hussein Walugembe, has died after setting himself on fire inside a police station where he had gone to demand the release of his impounded bike.

According to the Ugandan press, Walugembe’s motorbike was confiscated in the South-Western district of Masaka, about 134km (83 miles) from the capital, Kampala, on Monday, June 29. As part of the measures to contain the spread of the novel Coronavirus, the Ugandan government banned the use of motorcycles popularly known as Boda bodas, as a means of transportation for humans. They are able to operate between 06:30 and 17:00 local time but must only transport cargo.

According to the police, Mr Walugembe had lent his bike to a friend, who was apprehended while using it to carry a passenger. Walugembe reportedly became frustrated with the police after visiting the station several times to demand its release.

On Thursday, July 2, he visited the station and locked himself in a room before setting himself ablaze using petrol concealed in a water bottle and match sticks. An officer who was with him at the time suffered minor injuries and several files and computers were destroyed.

Commenting on the incident, the regional police spokesperson, Paul Kangave, said it is investigating the allegation that some of its officers were asking for a $40 (£32) bribe to release the bike.

EducationLagos State Govt Seals 10 Private Schools For Reopening Despite Ban On Academic by adebanji261(op): 2:43pm On Jul 03, 2020
Lagos state govt seals 10 private schools for reopening despite ban on academic activities

The Lagos state government has sealed ten private schools in the state for flouting the closure directive from the Federal and state governments on schools in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This was revealed by the Lagos State Director-General, Office of Education Quality Assurance, Mrs. Abiola Seriki-Ayeni, on Friday, July 3.

Seriki-Ayeni who leads the Monitoring and Investigation team of the office, disclosed this during the second and third phase of the massive monitoring of private schools' compliance to the directive to curb the spread of the pandemic in the country and the world at large.

According to her, a large number of private schools visited across the state were found to have complied while the non-compliant schools were sealed. The DG did not, however, mention the names and locations of the defaulting schools.

“No doubt, COVID-19 has had a negative effect on our schools but we want students to come out stronger and better.
We want to make sure schools are closed. We also want to make sure schools are adhering to the closure directive since the number of COVID-19 infections has increased dramatically over time. This is a unique time in the entire world, therefore, it is only the living that learns.” she said

Seriki-Ayeni warned of the danger inherent in the exposure and clustering of students in a class in the name of tutorials. She reiterated that any school found operating, while trying to beat government scrutiny without concern for the health and safety of pupils would be sealed.

EducationOyo State Government Lists Guidelines For Schools Resumption by adebanji261(op): 11:50am On Jul 02, 2020
The Oyo state government has announced some important guidelines which schools are expected to follow to ensure a smooth resumption in the state.

The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Olasunkanmi Olaleye who made the announcement on Wednesday July 1, said school heads, principals and teachers have undergone training on how to monitor and report any suspected case of Coronavirus.

An Emergency Operation Centers (EOCs) has been set up in the State capital and at the zonal levels. Incident Managers have also been appointed for each school in the state, and they are expected to report any emergency directly to the EOCs through special communication lines.

Each class will also have Warder whose obligation is to relate with the Incident Managers on his or her observations. Schools in the state must also observe compulsory hand-washing points at its entrances and at the entrance of each classroom. Alcohol-based sanitizers must also be provided for students and teachers.

Olusunkanmi said;

“Throughout last week, what we have been doing was to train school heads and teachers of public and private schools, preparing them for this task of taking firm control of preventing the spread of Covid-19 into our schools as we resume.
“Each school has been mandated to strictly enforce social distancing and observe other protocols against Covid-19 among teachers and students as laid down by NCDC.
“Students are to come to school with their facemasks and follow instructions on the guidelines from the management, these are imperative the government cannot lock down forever and education is an aspect of life that should not be allowed to suffer backwardness.
“I can boldly tell you that with these measures in place, the children are more safer with us in school than even many homes, imagine situations whereby students are asked to go to private lessons that provided no safety measure, many follow their parents to the market and workplaces where possibility of contracting the virus is high, so they are rather better kept at school than home."

The Commissioner also allayed fears of members of the public on risks associated with reopening of schools.

This is coming after the state government announced that teachers of public schools in the State are to resume on June 29, while students are to resume on July 6.
