MOTIONS
1. Vote of Confidence and Endorsement of the Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji: Hon. Adegoke Oyindamola Olayinka Majority Leader of the House, representing Ekiti Southwest II.

The House:

Mr. Speaker, We received correspondence from the Youth and Students of Ekiti State that a vote of confidence and endorsement for second term be passed on the Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.

Rt. Hon. Speaker and the entire House, I must remind you that recently, the government of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji has approved the payment of subvention for every youth and student organization in Ekiti State. These subventions will help each association run their programs smoothly and without interruptions.

Mr. Governor has appointed many active and vibrant youths of Ekiti, including the former occupant of your seat, Rt. Hon. Toba Ayo Fatunla, The S.A. OTSD. Mr. Speaker and Honourable colleagues, with these appointments, it’s evident that Governor Abayomi Oyebanji is a youth-friendly and youth-focused Governor.

May I also remind the entire House that recently, the youths of Ekiti were presented with a draft of the youth policy by Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development, for review. He instructed that the youth of Ekiti must own this policy. These actions underscore a governor who has the interests of youths at heart.

Mind you, Mr. Speaker, this Governor also inaugurated the 4th Assembly of the Ekiti Youth Parliament.

Furthermore, he has created two additional ministries for the youths of Ekiti to reduce unemployment and increase wealth accumulation. I am referring to none other than the Ministry of Job and Wealth Creation.

Mr. Speaker and the entire House, we all know that the world is evolving rapidly, and as a state known for its intellectual prowess, it is imperative that we move forward with the 21st Century.

Honourable House, Governor Abayomi Oyebanji has made significant strides in this regard. He has established the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy to foster the rapid growth of our youths in the digital/ technological space. Mr. Speaker and Honourable members, let me remind you that this Governor has diverse initiatives in the administrative sector, including the tractorization of our farmers at a subsidized cost and partnerships in youth agriculture like the one with YSJ, which is a good project which is currently ongoing in the northern part of Ekiti Land.

Mr. Speaker and Honourable members present today, it is noteworthy that Governor Abayomi Oyebanji has also established a Sports Commission, predominantly occupied by youths. The creation of the Sports Commission has not only centralized the focus on sports but also acknowledged its unifying and lucrative aspects in our daily lives.

Mr. Governor, the establishment of this Sports Commission has greatly benefited Ekiti, as evidenced by the success of the Ekiti Tigress and other sports achievements.

Mr. Speaker and Honourable members, it is imperative to note that, for the first time since 1996, Ekiti Land now owns a Youth Resource Center where Ekiti youths can freely access the internet and utilize resources from the World Wide Web. This resource center is situated within the Ministry of Youth Development, under the leadership of our esteemed Commissioner, Honourable Adesola Gold Adedayo, who attributed this achievement to Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, the Omoluabi 1 of Ekiti State.

Honourable members, as we know, African products are now widely accepted globally. One of these esteemed African products is our beautiful attire and clothing design known as Adire.

Honourable members, Under this government, under the leadership of Governor Abayomi Oyebanji, we have seen the creation of an Adire Hub where hundreds of Ekiti youths have been trained, with more awaiting training an initiative of the First Lady of the State.

The creation of the Adire Hub and the ongoing training not only engage our youths but also provides them with opportunities to sustain themselves. As a Yoruba boy, I recall the Yoruba adage “Yorùbá bọ̀ wọ́n ní yin ni yin ni kí ẹni lè ṣèmíì”

I commend the Governor for a job well done and encourage him to continue with renewed effort.

"To whom much is given, much is expected."
