There was drama in Kaduna State yesterday as the State Property Development Agency demolished the APC  headquarters of  Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi and his faction. The faction had recently suspended the Kanuna State governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai from the party for the next six month.

 

According to Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi, he said that the Kaduna State governor himself drove the bulldozer  used in demolishing the building yesterday. But according to the  Director General of Kaduna State Geographical Information Service, Ibrahim Husseini, he said that building was removed for flagrant violation of land use and non-payment of ground rent since 2010.


He said, "This morning (tuesday) , a building on 11B Sambo Close was removed for flagrant violation of land use and non-payment of ground rent since 2010. This illegal violation of the land use law had begun to distress neighbours, who are being forced to endure an influx of thugs and blockage of the road.

Nigeria play writer, actor, dramatist and scholar, professor Akinwumi Ishola is dead. He died this morning after battling with illness for over two years at the age of 79.

Prof Akinwumi Isola was born in Ibadan in 1939, attended Labode Methodist Shool and Wesley College. He studied at the University of Ibadan, earning a B.A in French. He also earned an M.A. in youruba literature from the University of Lagos in 1978 before commecing academic work as a lecturer at Obafemi Awolowo University were he was appointed a Professor IN 1991.

A teacher not only teach, but inspires and encourage students to do their best. But this is not the case in Kano as a teacher named Ali Muhammad was arraigned by a Senior Magistrate court  in the State. Ali was alleged to have defiled two of his students as he was charged with unnatural offense contrary to section 284 of the penal code law. 


It was reported that the two student named Bashir Yahaya and  Sulaiman Umar was lured by their teacher into his room one after the other. And after attacking  them sexually, he will give them N50  each.  The accused who pleaded guilty to the offence was learnt to have been reported to the Kano State Hisbah Board by the victims parents last year.

Nigeria playwright, poet and essayist, Prof. Akinwande Oluwole Babatunde Soyinka, popularly known as Wole Soyinka has voiced out on the attack of  secretariat in Akure south Local Government area of Ondo State and the burning of farm land in Osun State. He made his opinion known  yesterday in Lagos State at a conference he participated in. The press conference is titled, ' Nomads and Nation: Valentine Valedictory rites.' 



Prof. Wole Soyinka said, " I will say Mr. President you are in a trance."  Trance is a half-conscious state, seemingly between sleeping and waking, in which ability to function voluntarily may be suspended. He said this while answering one of the questions he was asked.  The question was about  what he will tell Nigeria president when he sees him because he believed that the president in not doing anything about the attacks of the headsmen in Ondo, Osun and other part of the country.  He said, " I don't known. so many unforced errors: take for instance, the suspended Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme, Usman Yusuf, that was reinstated by the president. " What is that about? What is going on?


" I am urging voluntary organisations to ask themselves when and how armed herdsmen would be disarmed. They need to ensure that anytime they see armed headsmen, they report to the nearest police station. But if at some point, the police have not taken action and the armed herdsmen are not disarmed, these voluntary organisations should move into the place and disarm them."

The Nigeria Vice - President call for the creation of State Police in the country has been backed by the State Governors and Senators. the governors and senators gave their full support to the Vice-President after the end of the summit on National Security which holds in Abuja for two days. The summit was organised by the Senate and also have leaders across the country in attendance.


The leader of the House Minority Leader, Sen Godswill Akpabio while addressing newsmen said, " We may need to review the constitution to bring security under the concurrent list of the legislature so that it will be easy for the states to setup something that will be in line with proper guidelines. State Policing has been accepted by all and sundry. I have not seen anybody speaking against it. I think that is one major thing we can take out of this summit. The centralisation of the police can longer work with the kind of population that we have today."

" The implication now is that with the current population growth in the country, there is now a lot of competition among the cows, the grass and infrastructure. If routes do no longer exist, we have to modernize the system."

The Chairman of the Nigeria Governor's forum Abdulaziz Yari who is also the Governor of Zamfara State also spoke on the same issue. He said, " The takeaway from this summit is that the Vice-President raised some of the key discussions about state Police on August 2017."

An Indonesia man named Robert Nababan was learnt to have fought with a huge python of about 7 meter, the man who is a security guide came across the snake on the road when he was coming back from his place of work.


The 37 years old who lived in Riau Province in Indonesia was said to have stopped, moved closer to the snake to kill it but was beaten by the snake in the hand.
He was learnt to have wrestled with the snake until he killed the snake. Robert Nababan after killing the snake was later rushed to a Clinic due to the injuries he sustained from the snake bites.

Kaduna State Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in statement released by the corps Public Education Officers Bisi Kzeem, said its operatives along Kaduna-Zaria route yesterday arrested a Fiat Bus known as J5, with plate number XC532ZAR for overloading. 26 year old Martial arts fighter Rondel Clark, suffered a technical knockout in a match in Massachusetts on Saturday, as he was confirmed dead by the Plymouth County district attorney's office yesterday. That Clark died at a Boston hospital.
Clark competed as part of the Cage Titans XXXV showcase on Saturday at Plymouth Memorial Hall. The match was stopped about two minutes into the third round and was ruled a TKO.
According to one of the observed of the match, clerk had been dominanting in the fight, but then there was a sudden, noticeable change in him.
After the fight, the DA said Clark was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth and then transferred to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.
The state medical examiner's office will determine the cause and manner of Clark's death.
It was learnt that the police, local police and the Massachusetts State Athletic Commission are investigating his death. Photos below:

Some suspected gunmen shot down dead a policeman near Assemblies of God Church, Oguta Road Onitsha, Anambra.
The gunmen, disguised in masquerade costume, also killed a passenger on commercial motorcycle popularly known as Okada and injured the rider accoring to eye witness.
Anambra Broadcasting Service corespondent, Odinaka Nwolisa gathered from eye witnesses that the police officer was standing opposite the church, when two men in Okada ran onto him, shot him and made away with his gun. but hours later, yesterday, the police released and official press conference signed by the command spokesman, Nkiru Nwode. read below:
"Gentlemen of the press, I welcome you all to this press conference today, 13th August, 2017.
I have the authority of the commissioner of police, CP Garba Baba Umar psc to intimate you on the incident that happened this afternoon at Oguta road Onitsha.
At about 10.30 hrs of today, men on disguise as masquerades attacked policemen on foot patrol, and opened fire on them. The team of policemen, responded swiftly and arrested one while others on the run are being trailed and would soon be apprehende.

North Korea’s state-run television on Thursday, August 10, KRT described U.S. President
Donald Trump as “senile” and his threat as a “load of nonsense”, referring to the president's “ fire and fury” warning.
Trump earlier said in the week that on North Korea “will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen” if it threatened the United States again.
Following Trump’s comments, North Korea said it was completing plans to fire four intermediate-range missiles over Japan to land near the U.S. Pacific island territory of Guam in an unusually detailed threat that further heightened tensions with the United States.
North Korea continued its attacks on Trump with the KRT saying, “ The U.S. commander-in-chief who was on a golf course again let out a load of nonsense about ‘fire and fury’, failing to realise the ongoing grave situation. This is extremely getting on the nerves of our infuriated Hwasong (North Korean tactical ballistic missile) artillerymen. We cannot have a sound dialogue with a senile man who can’t think rationally and only absolute force can work on him. This is the judgment made by our soldiers of the Strategic Force."

A self acclaimed prophet of a white garment church in the Sagamu area of Ogun State, Mr Kehinde Onayiga, has been arrested by the state police command for the alleged killing of a 13 year Anuoluwapo Ajisafe, for ritual purposes.
The propeht was arrested together with an accomplice, Musiliu Jibril, who allegedly lured the victim into Onayiga’s church where she was killed.
The self acclaimed man of God Onayiga and Jibril were among 56 suspects paraded by the Ogun State Police Command at the command’s headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, on Thursday, for offences bordering on ritual killing, kidnapping, cultism, armed robbery, impersonation, among others. Jibril told journalists that it was Onayiga who contracted him to source for a female virgin, adding that she was to be used with some fetish materials for some Internet fraudsters (Yahoo boys).
He said, “ I was able to lure the girl because she and her mother trusted me. It was the prophet (Onayiga) that contracted me to get a female virgin for ritual. He told me he wanted to prepare some charms for some Yahoo boys.
“ I delivered the girl to him in his church at Sagamu and he promised to pay me N20,000. But am yet to get the money.”
Onayiga, who was dressed in his religious regalia said, “ It is a lie, he did not deliver any girl to me in my church.” he said he was trained under an Islamic cleric before leaving to start a white garment church.
When asked what he used the fetish-looking goat horns for, he responded, “I use them to pray for those brought to my church for healing.”
The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, said in a bid to curtail criminality in the state, the command had deployed tactical and covert operatives to the length and breadth of the state.

former Barcelona defender, Rafael Marquez, and the current captain of Mexico has been blacklisted among 22 people sanctioned for alleged ties to a drug trafficking organisation announced by the United States Treasury on Wednesday.
In a statement made available on Wednesday, the Treasury will also sanction 43 entities in Mexico, including a football team and casino as a result of a multi-year investigation of the drug trafficking organization allegedly headed by Raul Flores Hernandez.
The U.S. government said " Marquez, who currently plays for Mexican club, Atlas in Guadalajara, and Norteno singer Julio Cesar Alvarez, better known as Julion Alvarez, are people with longstanding relationships with Flores Hernandez, who "have acted as front persons for him and his [drug trafficking organization] and held assets on their behalf.''
The sanctions freeze all US assets of the people and entities named and forbid all US citizens from doing business with them.
Rafael Marquez, who played as a central defender for Barcelona, Monaco, and New York Red Bull among several other clubs, is yet to react to the allegation.

Actor, Haruo Nakajima, the man inside the Godzilla suit in the original film, died on Monday August 7, 2017 at the age of 88 after a battle with pneumonia.
Nakajima wore the famous Godzilla costume, originally made from ready mixed concrete, from 1954 to 1972 for 12 films.
Nakajima began working as a stuntman shortly after World War II in Tokyo where he was spotted and cast by Ishiro Honda who directed the first Godzilla film in 1954.

A Kenyan women, Paulina Chemanang, yesterday gave birth to a baby girl while she was waiting to cast her vote in Kenya's election as other voters helped in deliver the baby at Konyao Secondary School in West Pokot, before being rushed to a nearby dispensary.
Surprisingly, she returned to vote and was interviewed by Kenya's Capital FM where she said, 'having given birth at a polling station is a blessing to me and I thank God'.
She has since named her baby Chepkura. "Kura" means ballot or vote in Swahili.
