Politics / Buhari’s Al Jazeera Interview Reveals He’s A Clueless Train Wreck by adebisi000: 10:04pm On Mar 07, 2016 |
President Muhammadu Buhari granted an interview to Al Jazeera English while on his official trip to Qatar. The interview was aired on Saturday, March 5, 2016 to the chagrin of Nigerian around the globe. Here are six quick notes: • On why he should continue to fund his children in foreign schools while restricting foreign exchange for most families that have pupils in schools abroad, Buhari acknowledges its “tough luck”. • On presenting the “worst budget” ever, Buhari blames it on sabotage by technocrats, and also denies knowledge of details of his budget when challenged on specifics, such as amount budgeted for books for the VP, and the Aso Rock Clinic. He accused the interviewer of assuming better knowledge of his budget. • On security votes, which had been source of corruption, which we had been told were scrapped. he defended the need for the security votes, and promised to punish anyone found misappropriating the funds. • On why no convictions since his much vaunted fight on corruption, he queried the motives of his critics, and why similar expectations were not made of previous administrations. • On whether Nigeria will join the Saudi Arabia led Islamic Coalition Force Against Terrorism, he said YES, which is in contradiction to what we were previously told. When asked if this decision was insensitive to the desire of Christians that make up 50% of Nigeria’s population, Buhari retorted [with hate] that Christians complaining should “Go fight terrorism in Nigeria, or fight militants in the South”. Those complaining Christians he referred to as religious bigots. • On Buhari’s promise to defeat Boko Haram, he was declared a “failure”, to which he angrily declared “I haven’t failed, I haven’t failed, I haven’t failed…”. His rationale was that Boko Haram now only has capabilities to attack and kill only civilians, but not police posts and military institutions. What low value placed on Nigerian lives by the President charged with the responsibility of protecting them. By the way, Boko Haram bombed a police headquarters in Adamawa last month. • On the killing of IPOB peaceful protesters by Nigeria’s armed forces, Buhari wickedly refused to watch the video when offered. He accused the movement of “interfering with movement of troops and the economy”, and declared the movement as “joking with Nigeria’s security and Nigeria will not tolerate it”. He then cajoled them, since we are in a democracy, to organize and vote for a “state within a state” The level of inconsistencies, ignorance, and insensitivity displayed by this president, for lack of better word, is pathological. http://pointblanknews.com/pbn/news/buharis-al-jazeera-interview-reveals-hes-clueless-train-wreck/ |
Politics / Arms Deal: Group Wants General Burutai Arrested by adebisi000: 9:29am On Jan 25, 2016 |
A group known as Save The Nation Movement (STNM) wants General Tukur Buratai, chief of army staff, to be included in the ongoing probe of abuse of funds meant for the procurement of arms for the military. Only last week, President Muhammadu Buhari directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate some serving and retired military officers over procurement of Arms for the Military. However, the group wondered why Buratai, who was said to be the director of procurement between 2012 and 2015, was excluded. “Major General Tukur Buratai was appointed director of procurement DHQ in 2012, a position he held until May 2015 that he was appointed force commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MJTNF), an appointment he held till he became chief of army staff,” Steven Chilaka, national secretary of the movement, said in a statement issued on Sunday. “As director of public procurement at the DHQ, all procurements by the military between 2012 and May 2015 passed through his office. Our question is; how can you probe procurement of arms within this period without the involvement of Major General Buratai, the man who was the director of procurement? “Curiously too, only retired and serving officers of the Nigerian Air Force were said to have been indicted. “Was the army being excluded from this probe to save Major General Buratai? Or Could procurements have been made without his involvement during the period that he was Director of Procurement? “Definitely, it won’t be funny if President Muhammadu Buhari’s fight against corruption is also selective against the military as it already appears to be against the political class and the president must look into this obvious case of selective probe as a matter of urgency.” http://pointblanknews.com/pbn/exclusive/arms-deal-group-wants-general-burutai-arrested/ |

Politics / Senate Presidency: Buhari Goes Back On Promise, Endorses Lawan, As Crisis Deepen by adebisi000: 8:54pm On Jun 04, 2015 |
President Muhammadu Buhar’s choice of Senator Ahmad Lawan for the post Senate President, has futther fractured the party caucus at the National Assembly. This contradicts Buhari’s earlier position. He had said he was not interested in who emerges. The move by Buhari has angered the camp of Senator Bukola Saraki, who believes the National Working Committee members in concert with Buhari may want Lawan who is viewed as more credible and a core northerner unlike Saraki Buhari had said two weeks ago “I am prepared to work with any leader that the House or Senate selects, “It doesn’t matter who the person is or where he or she is from “there is due process for the selection of leaders of the National Assembly, and I will not interfere in that process. 35 out of the 59 senators-elect under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, had declared their support for Saraki. He had posted the video of the endorsement on his Facebook and Twitter pages with the caption “videos don’t lie”.The APC at the General elections won majority of the 109 seats in the upper chamber. Similarly, in a statement issued by Dino Melaye, for ‘Like Minds Senators’, he said, “Senators of the like mind are here today at the retreat organized by our dear party, All Progressives Congress, which is meant to equip and empower Senators-Elect of the 8th Assembly to prepare them toward the challenges ahead. It was learnt that a meeting scheduled to decide on who takes the spot was to hold Tuesday at the International Conference Center in Abuja, was called off. While some said the plenary was responsible for the shift to Saturday, others allege it was a ploy by the Lawan group to re strategize. In a meeting a day ago with members of the party’s NWC, President Muhammad Buhari had signaled his preference for Lawan. According to Sahara Reporters, several sources at the meeting disclosed that Buhari said he was tipping Senator Lawan because of his experience and integrity. Mr. Lawan hails from Nigeria’s violence-ravaged northeast zone. President Buhari had asked party leaders to present one candidate as a way of projecting a united front. However, it was learnt that the APC’s national chairman, Odigie Oyegun, was pushing for a primary to enable party members to choose between Saraki and Lawan. Some APC sources disclosed that Mr. Oyegun supports former Governor Saraki’s bid to emerge as the new Senate president. Politics / Togo’s Faure Gnassingbe re-elected president by adebisi000: 9:55am On Apr 29, 2015 |
Togo’s incumbent President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbe won more than 58.75 percent of the votes in the presidential election, securing another five years in office, preliminary results released Tuesday showed. According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), ruling Union for the Republic party candidate Faure won 58.75 percent of the votes, while opposition Combat for Political Alternative in 2015 (CAP2015) alliance candidate Jean-Pierre Fabre won 34.95 percent. “The national electoral commission states that Faure Essozimna Gnassingbe has been elected based on provisional results which are subject to confirmation by the Constitutional Court,” the commission’s head Taffa Tabiou said. The INEC will soon transmit the provisional results to the Constitutional Court, which is responsible for examining appeals and electoral disputes before proclaiming the final results. Gnassingbe came to power in April 2005, following special election after the death of his father General Gnassingbe Eyadema, who ran Togo from 1967 till his decease. He was reelected in 2010 with 60.89 percent of the votes. |

Politics / $500,000 Bribery Allegation Rocks APC Zoning Panel by adebisi000: 4:50pm On Apr 21, 2015 |
President-elect General Muhammadu Buhari may have been confronted with his first acid test on the fight against corruption. Members of a panel set up by his party, All Progressives Congress (APC), to propose the zoning of political offices allegedly received $500,000 as bribe from a ranking senator from the Northcentral to doctor their report. The party’s National Working Committee (NWC) had last Thursday inaugurated a five-man committee to come up with an acceptable formula for zoning political offices in the National Assembly. The committee, Pointblanknews.com gathered, on the same day submitted its report to the National Chairman, Chief John Oyegun. However, it was gathered that the contents of the report changed between the venue of the earlier meeting and Oyegun’s house. Pointblanknews.com gathered that the five-man panel had agreed that the position of Senate President be reserved for the Northeast, with the Southwest to produce the Speaker, House of Representatives. However, the arrival a $500,000 largesse from a ranking senator from the Northcentral reportedly changed aspects of the report to suggest that the committee had recommended that the North central produce the Senate President and the Northeast the House Speaker. Fumed an influential APC chieftain, “This is not 1993. The present realities do not support ceding the positions of Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives to the North alone. “What we did was to cede the Senate President to the North east and the Speaker of the House of Representatives to the Southwest”, adding, “whoever collected money to doctor the report is on his own.” Apparently embarrassed by the bribery allegation, which is reportedly being investigated, the APC leadership on Monday disowned the zoning formula published by some newspapers. The party’s spokesman Alhaji Lai Mohammed urged Nigerians to disregard media reports on the alleged zoning of leadership offices in the National Assembly. He said: “No appointments have been made and no offices have been zoned. The main concern of our party at the moment is to ensure a smooth transition and to hit the ground running, in the overall interest of the long-suffering people of Nigeria. “At the appropriate time, Nigerians will be informed of the appointments made and the offices zoned.” Meanwhile, the party’s National Executive Committee is expected to meet on Thursday to consider the tainted report of the National Working Committee (NWC) on the zoning of positions. Some members of the party’s NEC told Pointblanknews.com that they knew the persons desperate to get party positions, but said such persons would smoke themselves out. “We cannot wrest power from PDP only to hand it over to felons and criminals. Our mantra is change. Anybody who thinks it will be business as usual is living in a fools paradise. You either adapt to change or perish,” an officer declared. Politics / Strange Deaths In Ondo Town Linked With Anger Of God by adebisi000: 9:42pm On Apr 18, 2015 |
High Chief Moses Enimade, the Oyewoga of Ode Irele in Ondo State, has linked the recent death of 20 youths in the town to a sacrilege done to Molokun, god of the land. Enimade, next in command to Oba Cornelius Olanrewaju-Lebi, debunked the rumour that the deaths were caused by strange disease or Ebola virus. No fewer than 20 youths reportedly died of severe headaches and blindness in the town recently. Enimade contended that some stubborn youths broke into the inner room of Molokun Shrine on April 15. “Molokun is a deity of the land, only the Chief Priest and High Chief Gboguron are qualified to enter the shrine.’’ The chief said the youths entered the shrine and made away with traditional items in a bid to acquire extra-ordinary powers and engage in money ritual. “They were not qualified to enter the room (shrine). They had to face death penalty’’; he emphasised. The Oyewoga said it he could not remember the last time Malokun or any other gods had to strike like this in the area. According to him, there is no community or town without its own culture and tradition; what happened in Irele is the judgement of the gods on stubborn youths. “Even the Kabiesi himself is not permitted to enter the Molokun Shrine’s inner room except the Chief Priest and High Chief Gboguron. Sacrifice must be performed before they can enter. “Because these youths want to be rich at all costs, they entered the sacred place and made away with traditional items and 20 of them have died as a result of their desperate acts, “We have to appease the gods or else many will still die and we have to bury them according to tradition. Their corpses belong to the gods and will be exhumed if buried by their families.’’ He restated that the deaths were not caused by diseases or ebola as widely speculated. “The death caused by Molokun is characterised by severe headache and blindness. “Proverbs 29:1 in the Bible say: `he that had been reproved and hardened his neck shall suddenly be destroyed without remedy; so youths of nowadays must be careful’’’, Enimade said. Some residents who spoke with NAN appealed to the chief priest to make necessary atonement to avert calamity in the town. They said news of the deaths had given the town and state a bad name. Mr Saheed Osuolale said he was afraid when the news broke. Mrs Esther Bantefa said the news had given the town and the state a bad name adding that the chief priest should as a matter of urgency perform necessary rituals. “Our people in Lagos and other towns called us to get information if it was Ebola outbreak’’, she said. Mrs Tayo Akinyelure said parents should warn their children against going near shrines. “Many youths do not believe in all these traditions and customs. It is high time parents warned their children against committing sacrilege’’, she said. Politics / Amaechi Lied, No One Fired At Him – Police by adebisi000: 10:56pm On Mar 27, 2015 |
The Rivers State Police Command has dismissed claims by Governor Rotimi Amaechi that some thugs shot at his convoy on Thursday. The governor’s spokesperson, David Iyofor, had said the incident happened in Rumuolumeni, Obio Akpor area of Port Harcourt. But the Rivers State command spokesperson, Muhammed Ahmad, in a statement said contrary to the report, shots were actually fired from the governor’s convoy. The police said Mr. Amaechi merely raised false alarm to win public sympathy to back his “bogus” claim of being targeted by assassins. Read Police Statement: 1. The Rivers State Police Command wishes to react to the news that went viral on both normal and social media quoting David Iyofor, Chief Press Secretary to Rivers State Governor to the effect that gun shots were fired at the convoy of his principal at Rumuolumeni, Obio/Akpor Local Government. 2. To put the records straight, after a successful and peaceful rally under the close watch of Policemen led by the Divisional Police Officer of the area, shots were indiscriminately fired from the convoy of the Governor for reasons best known to them, as against the wispy claim of David Iyofor. No shots were fired at the convoy of the Governor. 3. The false alarm which is the usual penchant of the State Government may not be unconnected with the bogus claim of assassination attempt by his principal that is to just whip up public sympathy. 4. The Command urges politicians to refrain from whipping sentiments by toying with security issues to create needless public panic, where there is none, please. Amaechi is a desperate deadly man |

Governor Rotimi Amaechi has been Rivers state Governor for quite a while. He was PDP and now APC. How he became governor is no news. He was one of those PDP rebel governors who exited for personal reasons. In 2007 a supplementary budget of 53.2billion Naira was passed into law. In 2008 another supplementary budget of 177.930billion Naira was signed into law by Governor CRA bringing the total of Rivers State Budget for these period to 2,997.91trillion (Two trillion nine hundred and ninety seven billion and ninety one million). Using the official foreign exchange of N150 to 1 dollar, Rivers State total budget for these period is $19.999bn (USD) @ N160 to $1(USD) the black or parallel market. The total budget for these period becomes $18.737bn(USD) Total Security Vote for the 3years of governor Amaechi tenure is N27.5billion Naira …Money that will not be accounted for! In the 2010 budget again N16.3billion was allocated for General administration and out of this amount 11billion is allocated to Government House 1. 2 trillion naira collected revenue that has not been accounted for. 2. 57 million dollars for the purchase of Aircraft. 3. 3 billion naira for the construction of Eneka road project is no where to be found. 4. 150 million dollars for the Portharcourt mega hospital is no where to be found. 5. 70 billion naira for tourism centre is no where to be found. 6. 7 trillion naira Federal allocation cannot be accounted for. 8.30 billion naira for the repair of Rumuokuta- China road is no where to be found. 9. 47 billion naira for the Trans -Amadinroad is no where to be found. 10. 250 million naira spent on foreign trips…… He only travelled to southAfrica. 11. He owns 20 companies in Ghana and his people are complaining of Jobs. 12. 20 billion naira for the construction of monorail. 13 2 billion dollars for the rehabilitation of ring-road. 14. 15 million dollars was given to Amaechi for security vote , but yet people sleep in portharcourt with their two eyes open. 15 12 million dollars was paid to some US based online blogs to report negatively against Mr President. 16. 100 million naira was collected by Amaechi to organise a conference. 17. 30 billion naira for building portharcourt stadium that is still in shambles. 18. Politics / Letter To Buhari From The Grave Of The Innocents by adebisi000: 12:27pm On Mar 26, 2015 |
Dear General Buhari; I would’ve addressed this letter privately to you, but in the expectation that you may not receive it, I decided to make it an Open Letter, in the hope that you would stumble on it, read it and hopefully feel some of the pains and anguish that have been my lot. Having said that, permit me therefore to proceed with the rest of this missive from the grave of innocents departed. Last night, while I was at my modest home in Katsina, relaxing and probably half-awake, I heard the voice of my cousin who was killed in the North in April 2011 during the post-election violence instigated by your loss of the presidential election. With bloodshot sad eyes, my cousin, looking apparition-like, was wailing “Gen Buhari, why why”. My cousin’s name is (or was) Mallam Yusuf Danfulani, a bright young lad originally from Katsina State, who was slaughtered in cold blood and set on fire by youths chanting “Sai Buhari”, like they are again now chanting in 2015. Gen Buhari, in case you have forgotten, Yusuf was slaughtered in your name even though he never did any wrong to you, and even voted for you against Dr Jonathan. He lost his life just because the murderers you encouraged by your many hate speeches believed Yusuf to be from middle belt or southern Nigeria, most probably because of his bulky looks and brave, patriotic attempts to prevent the killing of an innocent Youth Corper, Ukeoma Ikechukwu. Even though he cried out in Hausa and Fulfulde, he was still not believed by those you (Buhari) managed to brainwash to see all non-Fulani Nigerians as conspiring to vote against you. In this very case, Yusuf voted for you but his ‘Sai Buhari’ killers never believed he did. Like you, Gen Buhari, the mob was baying for the blood of innocents. If not for Yusuf’s best friend who was with him and was himself nearly killed, we would not have recognized his charred body that was burnt beyond recognition. And thanks to the same friend for recounting to us the little he could make out at the last moments of Yusuf’s life, the agony he passed through and the most important words he uttered before he gave up. It is the same words I heard him utter last night from the grave: ‘Gen Buhari, why why’. Yet, to this day, you (Buhari) have not cared to apologize or show any remorse, but you instead offered lame excuses for the bloodletting you had instigated, and still instigate. I now ask you this: Gen Buhari, must you always shade blood, like you started doing from 1983, to rule Nigeria? Do you recall how you killed Brigadier Bako in 1983 just so you could take power by force from Shehu Shagari? General Buhari, Ukeoma Ikechukwu himself was reported missing that same day Yusuf was murdered by your supporters, and finally confirmed dead the following day when his charred remains was discovered in a hooded area. Apparently, your supporters had dragged him out of the open and tortured him before finally snuffing life out of him. Like my cousin, Yusuf, Ukeoma was very young and an innocent. Unlike Dr. Jonathan, they were not contesting against you. Yet, when they were killed, part of Nigeria was killed with them; the same Nigeria that you are now angrily campaigning to rule. Yusuf and Ukeoma were not alone. Six other innocent Youth Corpers were also murdered in Bauchi, where you Buhari, polled 1,315,209 votes (almost 82 per cent), defeating Dr Jonathan who scored 258,404 votes and did not even hit the 25 per cent mark. The corps members were reportedly chased to a police station where they sought refuge. But the rioters, who were raving mad with bloodlust and chanting “Sai Buhari”, overran the station and murdered the young Nigerians in cold blood. So, Gen Buhari, as you can see from the Bauchi result and it’s aftermath, your supporters even shade blood when you win; still you have no qualms. Today, you are prancing around the nation, arrogant and angry as usual, behaving like you have already won the election; and thus setting up another bloodletting if you are not announced winner. The story of Obinna Okpokiri is as heart-wrenching as Yusuf’s. The 27-year-old was butchered and burnt to ashes, in the service of his fatherland. Okpokiri’s own circumstances were as gruesome as they could be. He had run to the Corpers’ Lodge as the rampaging ‘Sai Buhari’ rioters targeted Youth Corper polling officers recruited by INEC for the election. As painful death loomed, the young Nigerians contemplated fleeing to the barracks. But they were not lucky enough. Your ‘Sai Buhari’ supporters caught up with them, slaughtered and set them on fire. Like Yusuf, these innocents are human beings and future leaders on the last laps of fulfilling their national duty before moving on to a bright future. But it was not to be because, in your name, Gen Buhari, they were slaughtered, sliced, soaked in petrol and scorched. Reduced to ashes in minutes and in the most callous fashion by those that are not better citizens or humans than them. General Buhari, while you are now busy inciting another violence, please bear in mind that in 2011, your supporters turned violent in whole 12 northern states as they burned the homes, vehicles, and properties of innocent Nigerians, some of whom are also Muslims and Northerners like you and my cousin Yusuf. Your ‘Sai Buhari’ supporters also targeted and killed Christians and members of southern Nigerian ethnic groups, who were seen as supporting the PDP, and they burnt churches across the north. One particular attack in Bauchi stood out as most heart-breaking. According to Human Rights Watch, on April 17 in Giade, a rural town in northern Bauchi, ‘Sai Buhari’ mobs attacked youth corps members in the town. The Corpers, who were mostly from Yoruba, ran to the local police station to seek refuge, but the mobs stormed the police station. The mob killed the police officer on duty and burned down the police station. They raped two of the female youth corps members and then hacked them to death with machetes, along with five male youth corps members. In total, rioters killed ten youth corps members in that town alone. A lecturer at the Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria, Kaduna State, described to Human Rights Watch how a mob of Muslims chanting “Change, Sai Buhari” attacked and killed several Christian students, a Christian lecturer and four Muslim students suspected of being PDP sympathizers on April 17: He said “Between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m., they entered the school chanting slogans and shouting: “Where are the Christians and Muslims that supported the ruling party?” They had painted their faces black and were shouting that they needed “change”, the Congress for Progressive Change campaign slogan. The mob had all sorts of weapons – machetes, sticks, and clubs. They started breaking the glass on the buildings. The students ran away but the mob pursued them into the staff quarters and they had nowhere to go. The mob beat them to death. The lecturer they killed was Yoruba“. Finally, Gen Buhari, let me end this letter by asking you this question: When are you going to apologize to me, to Yusuf’s aged parents, to Ukeoma’s parents, to parents of all innocents murdered by your brainwashed supporters, to Nigeria and to mankind? And here is Yusuf again, asking you from the grave: “Gen Buhari, why why”. |
Politics / FG Denies Report Of Mass Boko Haram Kidnapping by adebisi000: 12:16pm On Mar 26, 2015 |
Nigeria’s government on Wednesday denied reports of a mass kidnapping in the country’s northeast, as Boko Haram militants flee a four-nation military offensive. “There is no fresh kidnapping in Damasak,” Nigeria’s national security spokesman Mike Omeri told AFP, referring to the town recently retaken by forces from neighbouring Chad and Niger. Reports suggested that the Islamist militants, who seized the town in Borno state earlier this year, made off with hundreds of children as they fled the troops’ advance. But Omeri said Nigeria had no information about a mass abduction. A senator who represents the area and a senior intelligence source also cast doubt on the reports. The contradictory claims shed light on the difficulty of establishing facts in the brutal, six-year conflict, with communications infrastructure devastated in the northeast and travel restricted. Officials, the military and locals frequently give contrasting information. The militants do have a track record of mass kidnappings, however, including the high-profile abduction of more than 200 schoolgirls in April last year from the Borno town of Chibok. Details about the kidnapping were muddied for weeks by military and official denials of details reported by the affected families. The disputes over what actually happened were finally laid to rest when Boko Haram released a video picturing dozens of the hostages, who were subsequently identified by relatives. Omeri noted Boko Haram’s widely reported tactic of forcibly conscripting young boys during their hit-and-run attacks and attempts to indoctrinate them into the group’s radical ideology. Many Boko Haram fighters are believed to be on the run as a result of the offensive by Nigeria, Niger, Chad and Cameroon, who have routed the insurgents from dozens of towns. Several sources said it was possible, and perhaps even likely, that scores of Boko Haram conscripts were missing, feared kidnapped by the militants across the region. But they denied a specific mass abduction in Damasak, where the Chadian military last week said that about 100 bodies, some of them decapitated, were found in a mass grave. Senator Maina Lawan, whose constituency includes Damasak, said: “I will be extremely surprised that such a huge number of my constituents would be abducted without me being informed. “It is very unlikely that Boko Haram would have abducted such a huge number of people from Damasak because most of the people had fled months ago when Boko Haram took over.” A senior intelligence source in Borno’s capital Maiduguri said there was “no iota of truth” to the mass abduction claims. I wonder why our politicians will pass a fallacious news just to sabotage the effort of the government and the military. |

Politics / Real Reason Buhari Is Being Endorsed And Dr Jonathan Vilified by adebisi000: 9:44am On Mar 23, 2015 |
Why should I not believe the allegation of Fani Kayode that Buhari has cut a deal with Western nations to repeal President’s Jonathan’s anti-gay law in exchange for their support? That is how desperate the APC is for power. What else would they not do? What else have they not done? Whatever the case, the fact is that the New York Times will never support Buhari except on the platform of the promotion of gay rights. That is what the paper basically stands for. From the information at my disposal, I have no problem believing the “wild” allegation by Chief Femi Fani Kayode that, indeed, Buhari was approached and offered Western support and endorsement on the condition that he considers repealing the anti-gay law signed by Goodluck Jonathan. This matter could even have been in the works long before Fani Kayode released his bombshell. But I must confess that I thought Fani Kayode was a little crazy when I read what he initially said. I felt maybe he must have taken pawpaw with some onions and gotten such a bad stomach upset he needed to release the stress. As an honest Muslim, I have no doubt that Buhari is facing the moral crisis of his life because of this. He is suddenly face-to-face with evil and he has to make a choice. He has come to understand, even more than Dr. Jonathan, the extent these people are willing to go to have men having sexual intercourse with other men and forcing others to clap instead of being naturally repulsed. The problem is that Buhari also wants to be president. He now knows what the endorsements are about. From the way things are going, under the pressure of wanting to be president, General Buhari may have already caved in. The giveaway in this orchestrated campaign is the New York Times. Nigerians should hear this: knowing what it does in America and what it has come to stand for, there is no way New York Times will endorse Buhari (especially in view of the facts on the ground and Buhari’s human rights albatross) except in the belief that Buhari will be an asset to the gay agenda. Anyone who doubts this should pray and fast and that Buhari wins and just wait and see what happens next. 1 Like |

In 2015, Nigerians will be making a choice between a bloody civilian and a retired military general. In 2015, Nigerians will be making a choice between a man that was once elected by majority of Nigerians and another man that has always been rejected by majority of Nigerians. In 2015, Nigerians will be making a choice between a man that has never won an election in Nigeria and another man that has never lost an election in Nigeria In 2015, Nigerians will be making a choice between a man that has deepened democracy and another man that destroyed democracy over 30 years ago. In 2015, Nigerians will be making a choice between a man that became Head of State without the blessings of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, and another man who became President only after he was sworn in by the Chief Justice of Nigeria. In 2015, Nigerians will be making a choice between a man that cancelled a railway project he did not initiate (even after the state that initiated it had paid a whopping $50m as counterpart fund), and another man that initiated, sponsored, and has actually built railway lines linking the north of Nigeria to the South of Nigeria and intends to do more. In 2015, Nigerians will be making a choice between a man who is so scared of criticism he forbids anyone to say anything not favourable to his government and threatens any who attempts to do so with jail without fair hearing, and another man who is so confident in democracy and confident of himself that, in view of his legion of enemies and their ownership of media houses, not only signed the Freedom of Information Bill into law, but has publicly averred that no Nigerian will go to jail for criticizing him. In 2015, Nigerians will be making a choice between a man that believes (by his actions and utterances) that becoming Nigeria’s president is his right, and another man that is grateful for the privilege to serve this great country as number one citizen. In 2015, Nigerians will be making a choice between a man who, through his actions, resembles a hater of education and enlightenment than anything else, and another man who will go down in history as the first to consider the plight of the millions of uneducated street urchins parading street corners in the north, and who actually began to do something to change their story by building 150 Almajiri Schools for them, even though primary education is not really the responsibility of the federal government. In 2015, Nigerians will be making a choice between a man that violently stopped the September 1985 National Conference of the National Association of Nigerian Students, attacked a press conference of the Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities, ASUU, and even banned the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, and another man that has opened the floodgates of freedom of association and whose government has no political prisoners. In 2015, Nigerians will be making a choice between a man that did not build a single institution (tertiary, secondary, or primary) throughout the time he was Head of State, and another man who loves education and loves to see others educated so much that he has given evidence for this by building 14 federal universities in just 4 years – an unprecedented record in Nigeria’s history. In 2015, Nigerians will be making a choice between a man who is directly responsible for denying young people their right to life by retroactively applying a decree just to make sure they are killed, and another man that loves young people so much his government became the first to seek out young people and give them grants as much as N10m through his YouWin initiative and several others, just so that they can live a better life. NOTE: These grants are grants: they are not loans to be repaid. In 2015, Nigerians will be making a choice between a man who has a tactical and reactive approach to fighting corruption (even though corruption is only a symptom of a more serious disease) and another man who has a strategic approach. This man has called corruption by its real name – stealing – and focuses on the diseases that lead to corruption by implementing a strategy of rapid education, infrastructural development, women and youth empowerment, and curbing actual corruption through the deployment of technology to make corruption impossible. DETAILS General Buhari is a military man. He was trained to destroy – to fight. This is why the General is always saying he is going to fight. He wants to fight corruption and guarantee security, which he will achieve by fighting. Even his economic plan is not based on key development initiatives but fighting waste. If there is more money, then, every other thing will take care of itself. Many people believe that General Buhari built our refineries, but he did so under the orders of another administration – the first Obasanjo administration: many also believe General Buhari built roads and several other infrastructures; but, again, he did so under another administration – the Abacha administration. On his own, the man seems a better destroyer than builder. It is on record that, all through his 20-month reign, General Buhari did not do much more than basically fight. Or is there a road somewhere I missed; or a hospital, or some tractors he bought, or a school he equipped, or even a barrack he built between December 1983 and August 1985? I will honestly like to know. During his brief stay in power, General Buhari was busy fighting. He fought politicians, he fought journalists, he fought drug barons, he tried to kidnap Umaru Dikko from Britain, he fought the Nigerian Medical Association, he fought ASUU, he fought NANS, he killed young people outside the law, he jailed respectable politicians, he harassed traditional rulers, he humiliated elected leaders, he fought ordinary Nigerians and had them whipped on the streets, he fought free speech and he fought freedom of association; he even attempted to fight men in green like himself, which was what led to his untimely ouster. Now, it must be noted that the fight of General Buhari is always for the common good – or so he always believes. This is what makes his brutal actions somewhat forgivable and I have no doubt that the man means well. The problem is that, in spite of his good intentions, it takes a lot more to be a leader. Together with the fact that the man is personally abstemious, not materialistic, and almost Spartan, it is no wonder that Buhari has some magical effect, especially in the north and especially among the peasants, who cannot be accused of any kind of sophistication in their mode of reasoning. When politicians associate with Buhari, it is always as a result of this secondary advantage of his, which means some secured voters. Democracy does not discriminate between the vote of a complete illiterate who does as he or she is told, and an employer of labour in the thousands who contributes to society and understands economics and the dynamics of politics and societal development; so, notwithstanding, Buhari has real electoral value. Why has General Buhari suddenly become so important in the Nigerian polity? Is it even a mystery? Maybe it is an issue of memory. Until November 2013, Buhari was only important in the sense that he was tending towards a Guinness World Record – as the man that had contested and lost more presidential elections in history than any other. He had contested against Chief Olusegun Obasanjo in 2003 and lost; he had contested against Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar’Adua in 2007 and lost; again, he had contested against Dr. Goodluck Jonathan in 2011 and lost, in an election adjudged free and fair by members of the international community as well as by local observers. Although the General did not accept the result of that election and even, unwittingly or otherwise, made statements that led to the deaths of several Nigerians, the point, for now, is that he lost. If Nigerians have rejected this man at least 3 times, why are they suddenly in love with him? Or are they? “It is becoming apparent that the recent replacement of Service Chiefs is part of President Jonathan’s plan to use state apparatus to scale the 2011 presidential hurdle. Anything short of a Northern President is tantamount to stealing our Presidency. Jonathan has to go and he will go. Even if he uses the incumbency power to get his nomination on the platform of the PDP, he would be frustrated out.” “The North is determined, if that happens, to make the country ungovernable for President Jonathan or any other Southerner who finds his way to the seat of power on the platform of the PDP against the principle of the party’s zoning policy.” When someone challenged Kaita that northern Christian were going to vote for Dr. Jonathan in the 2011 elections, this was his response: “What you may call Northern Christians are concentrated more in Benue State where they may constitute about 90 per cent. In Plateau State, if you study that carefully, the Christian/Muslim population is 60 per cent for Christians, 40 per cent Muslims, so Plateau State is not an entirely a Christian State. The only state in the North that is substantially a Christian community is Benue State.”1 One wonders if this is why we often read of raids in these two states by Fulani herdsmen who are armed beyond the average Nigerian soldier. Consider the following facts: Some people in the north did not want Dr. Jonathan to be president beyond 29th May, 2011 Some people in the north felt so bad about Dr. Jonathan’s ascension they damned the consequence and the possibility of prosecution and openly threatened to make his government ungovernable Some people in the north felt cheated by Yar’Adua’s death and felt Jonathan was an opportunist Some people in the north did not believe that Dr. Jonathan deserved to be President even after Yar’Adua’s death Some people in the north felt it was the right of the north to rule for 8 years, in spite of the fact of Yar’Adua’s death Some people in the north have never spoken a word in condemnation of the Boko Haram insurgency Some people in the north have never sympathized with the Nigerian government and military in their fight against Boko Haram Some people in the north have never offered condolences to the families of those slain by Boko Haram’s bullets and bombs Some people in the north have risen to the defense of Boko Haram at least once Some people in the north have said that Boko Haram (which must now be seen as ISIS) should be treated by the government of Nigeria the same way the government of Nigeria treated Niger Delta militants Some people in the north have accused the government of killing “their people” when the government launched an offensive against Boko Haram Some people in the north have been so incensed by the killing of Boko Haram by Nigerian troops that they threatened to take Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff (General Ihejirika) to the International Criminal Court at The Hague. Some people in the north vehemently opposed the state of emergency declared by the Nigerian government in some northern states, to help the military establish command and control to deal with the Boko Haram insurgency Some people in the north have stated their preference for Sharia law, which is also in tandem with Boko Haram’s objective http://pointblanknews.com/pbn/articles-opinions/response-to-barrister-keyamos-article-endorsing-gmb/ 1 Like |

Politics / Letter To Buhari From The Grave Of The Innocents – by Bashir Yusufu by adebisi000: 3:39pm On Mar 22, 2015 |
