FEDERAL WORKERS FORUM ( FWF )
motto:: service at all times.
email:allworkersconvergence@gmail.com

3rd Sept, 2023

PRESS RELEASE

FEDERAL WORKERS WILL BE PART OF THE STRIKE ACTION, FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SECRETARIATS WILL BE SHUT DOWN ACROSS THE FEDERATION.

We at the Federal Workers Forum are in full support of the call by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) for a two days national warning strike from Tuesday 5th to 6th September, 2023 over issues of government insensitivity to the plight of workers and the citizenry at large.

As federal workers, we are also badly affected by the economic crisis visited on Nigerians as a result of the hike in the pump price of petrol, all in the name of subsidy removal.

We had earlier written to the federal government to adjust our wages automatically inline with the existing economic realities but that has fallen on deaf hears.

It is over three months now that fuel subsidy had been removed and fuel has equally been increased twice by over 300% , with a price shift from ₦187 to over ₦620 but salaries have remained the same. Federal workers within this period have gone through excruciatingly tough times. It has been stories of mass suffering and life has been made almost meaningless to the federal workers. Everything has been nauseating and hunger is now a way of life among the federal workers. As a matter of fact, federal workers have been financially embarrassed as against the provisions of the general order of the federal civil service rules and regulations.

Federal government workers are no slaves,we therefore query this pathetic situation and call on all federal workers to ensure that the two days warning strike is successful.

We call on the federal workers to ensure that all federal government secretariats across the federation is shut down during the strike period. Workers are to also ensure that every other government offices, departments and agencies are shut down nationwide.
We call on all industrial unions, organising federal workers to comply with the directives of the NLC.
The Trade Union Congress (TUC) is also called upon to ensure the success of this strike action.

We urge the federal government to meet up with the demands of labour.
We demand also that government pay up all outstanding arrears of salaries, promotions, duty tour allowances (DTA) owed the federal workers and particular attention to the arrears of salaries of federal university workers in Nigeria.

Henceforth, federal workers will no longer tolerate any oppression of federal workers anywhere and we shall not hesitate to join any workers group in solidarity strike when oppression is noticed; our attention here is drawn to the plight of our colleagues in the federal universities.

We equally call on the NLC to pursue this struggle to a logical conclusion and stop this mass cheating of workers. The NLC must not disappoint Nigerians, the labour movement has our collective support.

In Solidarity,
Comrade Andrew Emelieze
National Coordinator FWF
Former Oyo State TUC Chairman.

Sports / Re: €200m For One Foot — Napoli Set New Victor Osimhen Price Tag by Adedokunayode: 12:09pm On Sep 04, 2023
tundetech5:
€200m will only be enough to buy one of Victor Osimhen’s feet according to an email allegedly sent by Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis

Napoli President Aurelio de Laurentiis will reportedly ask for an astronomical fee to part ways with star striker Victor Osimhen if Saudi Arabian clubs return for the Super Eagles striker’s signature.

Napoli reject Al Hilal’s advances for Osimhen
Make Osimeh cut soap for us ooo

Osimhen was the subject of a massive bid from Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal this summer, with the club reportedly ready to offer Napoli up to €200 million for the Nigerian forward.

Napoli rejected all formal bids for Osimhen however, with de Laurentiis unwilling to sell the Nigerian forward despite the huge bids from Al Hilal.

In a report from L’Equipe, the Napoli president allegedly told Al Hilal in an email, “Your bid can only buy one of Osimhen’s foot [sic]” in defiance of the money the Saudi club were willing to pay for the 2022/23 Serie A top scorer.

Napoli president sets new price tag
De Laurentiis is also reportedly set to shun future bids for Osimhen, as he stated in the supposed email that he would only think of considering a bid for Osimhen above €500 million.

The Partenopei president reportedly said, For next year, I expect you’ll be able to table €500m and maybe we’ll entertain your offer, but I say again, ‘maybe'.”

Osimhen is one of Napoli’s most coveted players after finishing the 2022/23 Serie A season with 26 goals to help the Partenopei claim their first Scudetto in 33 years and the club has made it clear on several occasions that they would do all it takes to keep the Nigerian striker with them.

OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU, GCFR

SUBJECT: THE ROT IN THE ARMY UNDER GEN F. YAHAYA (COAS)

Nigerian Army is an arm of service constitutionally responsible for maintaining peace and defending the country against external aggression on territorial land.

The personnel of this arm of service especially non commission officers cadre have suffered maltreatment in terms of welfare: social security and income support from bad leadership. The successive ministers of Defence, Finance, Justice/Accountant general, Chief of Defence Staff and National security Adviser who are supposed to check the excesses of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) on the proper implementation of govt policies have all entangled themselves in these sharp practices denying Soldiers their welfare and diverting same to personal use. This has been going unabated resulting to dissatisfaction and untold hardship among junior army officers.

The emergence of general Farouk Yahaya, current COAS has worsen the decay system in the Army. He is known to be the worse Chief of Army Staff apart from Gen Ishaya Bamaiyi since Nigeria got her independent in 1960.

Under gen Yahaya, Soldiers who are returning from Operation Hadin Kai , Joint Task Force, (JTF) North East theater have accused him of diverting their disembarkation allowances which worth more than five hundred million naira to his personal pocket apart from poor feeding, accommodation and inhuman treatment meted against his men at Jaji Military Cantonment Kaduna State in the name of "post trauma reduction" training for a period of three weeks each batch.

It would be recalled that since May 2023, almost two thousand combatants who have completed their duty in NE operation are currently undergoing rotation exercise. Each Soldier is entitled to seven hundred thousand naira as disembarkation allowance which general Farouk Yahaya (COAS) denied them.

On their arrival to Jaji Cantonment, the already exhausted or fatigue Soldiers from counter insurgency operation, they were compelled to harsh or dehumanise treatment such as eight hours tracking, inadequate feeding, poor medication and poor sanitary facilities.

Servicemen who have sacrificed their lives for the peace of Nigeria for many years in the battle field only to be subjected to slavery at Jaji, Kaduna. Even when these military personnel had endured short payment of their operational allowances in the North East for years, the authority at the Nigerian Army School of Infantry under Maj Gen O.A Olatoye (Commandant) still denied them disembarkation allowance which would have ease their transportation to their various units.

It was so bad and unethical that Soldiers who returned from war had to transport themselves to many formations/Units out of their meager salary in our unsecured roads which had become terrorists, bandits and kidnappers hub. Soldiers were used at the theatre and dumped at so called Jaji military cantonment as they scramble for food daily like refugees . It is the responsibility of the authority to provide adequate feeding, protection/safety, tranportation and medical care to personnel but the reverse was the case.

Unlike Nigerian Navy and Nigerian Air force who cares for their men, the Nigerian Army has not been taking proper care of its personnel for years in all ramifications. Most personnel live in dilapidated houses especially barracks situated outskirt of the cities even when govt has provided enough funds for soldiers welfare.

Additionally, NA since 2017 has failed to implement (MAFA 2017) Manual Financial Administration document which former president Muhammadu Buhari signed into law. In the said document, personnel salary/wages/allowances has been increased but only 30 % is being paid to soldiers despite billions of naira released to the Army yearly. Till date Soldiers don't know their actual salary as the payment varies in figures of personnel on same rank. The authority under the watch of Lt. Gen F. Yahaya had continued to impoverish their subordinates to misery. Many personnel has turned to robbers, kidnappers and criminality of all sorts because their entitlement are not given to them by the authorities concerned. This is the reality of NA as Soldiers are always being treated like thrash.

Soldiers are appealing to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a matter of urgency to direct NA authority to fully implement MAFA 2017 documents to avert the looming danger in the system.

Each year FGN has been giving enough funds running into trillions/billions naira for welfare of service men only to be shared among few generals in the army who are not only unpatriotic but never cares for the welfare of their subordinates officers. NA as an institution has contravenes its core values....courage, discipline, respect for others, selfless service and loyalty by its very leaders who supposed to uphold it.

My identity remained undisclosed for security reasons.
Mr President, NA is in urgent need of reforms for the present generation of generals have destroyed the system as it is today. Thank you in anticipation Mr President for coming to our aid in eradicating massive corruption in the system..

Signed;

A Patriot writes from Maiduguri.
